hi, is there any difference to upgrade the firmware by PC or through mobile device update? Should i get the same thing or there is any risk to upgrade firmware from mobile typing *#0000#? please let me know.

hey who wants quickoffice? i have the unsigned version. If anyone wishes, I would share. its more than 5mb and installs on your phone memory automatically.

price of n5800xm today is estimated to be 210 EUR..(used the ovi app named currency to convert) it may be lower depending on region.
well the v50 is 5800's best firmware. Its not perfect but great enough for its price. Kinetic scrolling all over except on reading sms(haven't checked mms) so you can copy text. its pretty fluid than previous FW and more stable. Can't sometimes think that this phone has already this FW. Now I'm not envy on 5530 and x6's UI..
as for my phone.Haven't experience blurring display. it is the first time i've read about it.

hey all,
I purchased this device some time back...and its pretty good... Its economical and excelles in its own ways... Anyway, i have a serious problem.. I am kinda hard user.. So, once when i unlocked the key pad of the phone the display was very blurry and crap.. It came back to normal in a few seconds.. Also this happens when i get off a call..as in, after talking it off my ear the display stays dark and is supposed to come back..but its blurry and comes back in a few seconds.. when i took it to the care centre they said that all 5800's will face this problem once..its the display ribbon..after making it, it never goes.. However, i just wanna know if any of my fellow users ever came across this?
Also, how is the v50?

I like v50. It is faster in my opinion. I had many issues with v40.
Like the browser, much improved. Auto fullscreen, smooth kinetic scrolling, better response.
This version is what v21 should have been.
Now they need to open it up and give us control over the UI

hey! im back and thought of something so please be aware it is just my opinion.
i think that opening music player, realplayer, messages and any app with lists will take it seconds depending on the list if it shorter or a long one. i can see that this buffer time is used to load files in the list. for example. opening music player will load up to 3 - 5 seconds. but opening its 'all songs' list will just load for a second or faster because it has already been loaded when you opened the player. so as the other apps. Can someone get me?

Nicholas, 22 Apr 2010Guys and girls i updated firmware to version 50, looks pret... morewell, did you reset your phone? mine i did. maybe the contacts bar is kinda slowing the phone. yeah it takes awhile to open apps.but not with the camera.it is faster now. mine lags because i use opera mobile that eats all of the ram. do a hard reset and see if it changes. then don't use heavy themes. it slows your phone.
ill try opening apps later and see f it is slower as you said..

well lucky u, i've an answer for it. there is tis software called Bluetooth receiver. it is in chinese but they hv translated in english. before receiving it, on this app and automatically it'll ask u where to save the following files. its an easy interface. used it n it works, but mind u, if ur transferring alot of files, this software will prompt you where to save each file. so its a lil bit of hassle if receiving alot of files.

of course u can downgrade the app by uninstalling the latest version of quickoffice. quickoffice has word,spreadsheet and presentation software (like a mini microsoft office). u can actually edit and view the files. so its basically an office software (business software they call it).

I am just updated to v50 and it is looks good but vibration of the phone while touching is disgusting....this firmware is available over air....and it is 20mb....

Today i updated my version to v50 and yeah i can see kinetic scrolling on all the menus but no quick office and im not sure whether i updated the firmware correctly because i did through the nokia ovi suite and it took only 10 mins to update the v40 to v50 so im not sure whether i did a complete update or not?? Please help me...

Guys and girls i updated firmware to version 50, looks pretty good, nice music player album art and kinetic scrolling. Also now i have 69MB internal memory even after backing up than the previous 49MB. People say the os now looks stable, it does but i think that is due to the slowess of the new firmware. I really feel that the phone is much more slower than it was in version 40, opening menus, music player takes 2 or 3 seconds longer now. Did nokia underclock the 5800 with this update????? I think they did. No hate guys, i'm a hardcore nokia fan. Please share your experience with version 50. Thank you!!! : ))
