Hi pals, i bought this phone 2 weeks back, its simply AWESOME.Here are some detailed discriptions of every feature I experienced in the phone;
Handling and Design:
Its great..no doubt its a touch lcd phone so has a bigger dimensions,but the phone with touch screen must hav large lcd so dat u can perform ur tasking..it has 3.2" lcd which is great, secondly about the design which is also good, or u can say it could b little more elegant..this feature lacks in it.according to the price of the phone.but may b they hav kept its simple look bcoz its a phone for pro class users only.
Touch LCD:
Now there is some thing that has created some questions and doubt abt the sensitivity of its LCD to some users as compared to the dat of iphone, I want to clear that, i hav used iphone and simply there is no clear cut difference in the lcds of both these phone..the lcd of iphone is made as such it is only responsive to ur fingers and nothing else as pen,stylus or anything..it wil only respond to ur finger touch..but the 5800 lcd is designed to respond to anything..and the more the thing is pointed the more accurate will be the response (as u know users, dont forget to calibrate the lcd from settings > phone > touch input) and it is SUPERB..and abt the clarity of lcd its awesome..with the pixels of 360 x 640 and 16 million colors..u can clearly think..its GREAT.
Software and applications:
I bought it with version 21 installed and hav not yet updated it, using the phone for almost whole the day for 2 weeks..and havnt yet experinced any firmware issue..regading hanging, crashing or restarting of the phone..the tasking is very smooth and satisfactory.
Messaging:
Now comes the most important thing our generation likes to know..sms stuff, dear readers..the texting of this phone.regarding typing speed and overall functionality of messaging is very good..u can use 4 different ways to type msg..by full screen qwerty keyboard, mini screen qwerty keyboard, handwriting (no doubt with the supplied stylus) and alphanumeric keypad (as in usual phones) the last option is very fast for typing msg of all others, and the full screen qwerty keyboard method as well..but there is only one problem on which nokia must think before releasing their up coming firmware for this phone.."the addition of sms counter and graphical smiley options" which lacks in the messaging options of this phone...its very important..and they hav missed in it,. and now I want to discus something abt the memory of sms that it can hold...u know frm the specifications already mentiond in the gsmarena that it has 81mb of internal mem and 8gb mem card supplied..
about 2500 text messages make 1 mb...u can imagine how much msgs it can hold...u select phone mem or card mem from the options..the effective phone mem is 70 mb which is more than enough for this purpose..and abt the card..its no need to say...its UNLIMITED
Camera:
The camera of the phone is satisafctory i'll say...as mentioned in may reviews its not as good as some one can expect from 3 mega pixels and carl zeiss lens..is quite true..they must do something for the betterment of the camera..from the next firmware update.
Music and sound:
SIMPLY GREAT.it has stereo speakers.very clear and loud..also supplied with 3.5mm jack, u can attach external speakers as well.
Memory:
It has 81 mb internal phone mem and 8 gb mem card..which is more than enough to hold lots of music files, videos, images, applications and much more..u will never regret the phone memory.
Battery Life:
As u know it has 1350mAH battery installed, which is very powerful, but if any one complaining abt the quick draining of the battery...u must know that if u buy and new electronic accessory with rechargeable lithium battery...must follow this:
use the item uptil the full draining of the pre charge of the new battery and then recharge the phone while off..then use the phone till again the battery fully discharged and again recharge it while keeping it off...repeat it once more...i mean total charges u do by keeping the phone off are..first 3 charges...later do next 2 or 3 charges by keeping the phone on..but perform full charges as well this time...and later after whole this procedure..u are ready to use ur phone or accessory with ANY TIME ANY DURATION recharge phenomena. and ur accessory battery wil work with is full efficiency.

I was one of the lucky persons to buy 5800XM for the first time in Bangladesh (on the very first day of launching.But i am not happy with the operating system. There are so many limitations of the new version of operating system.
Whenever i set my home screen as shortcut bar mode or basic mode, the dial and contact folders of homescreen does not work.
Even my green button does not work as re-dialer, I have to go to call log for redialing.

im a facebook - pet society addict... however, i cant play the game on my nokia 5800 saying i need a newer version of flash player... i just upgraded my firmware to v.21 and still cant play it...
any knows how and where i can update my flash player so i can play and view flash on my nokia5800

last week i had this mobile and this driving me crazy . it has amazing features but i would like to how can i go for Document viewer (word ,exel and powerpoint) where from i can get this software????????????????????????????????????????

No doubt this set is very good as campare to others.But one of the main problem of this set that when you withdraw the mem card without switch off in this case distrube the all data and others files and also hange the phone so in this case you again the restart the phone.

hey guys can anyone help me i wanna know mostly the menu of this phone shows 3 icons in a row but can it be custimized to have 4 icons in one row (im talking about the main menu) cuz in the video shown below i see at first the lady shows the phone and it shows 4 different icon shorcuts in one row in the main menu and next time she shows the menu theres only 3 shown in a row ? any ideas . i dont understand what shes speaking though .

James , 04 Aug 2009I primarily bought this phone for the fact it offered a 3.5... morethey maybe providing u limited accessories cuz ur getting it from a contract phone provider (o2) otherwise it will come with all the accessories and i must say most contract phone providers do provide all the stuff that comes with the phone i dont know about o2 though .
plus i think ur mistaken though u can minimize or aka make the mp3 player run in background and still check any other option in ur phone without intterupting ur music .

Tracey, 04 Aug 2009I haevn't had a Nokia for years but so glad I switched back... moreyes it comes with usb cable for sure . plus with the stand , the charger the cds , the manuals the headset with remote .

My previous phone,... moreYou get 5 days... I hope you put into equation all the abuse that Im putting into my 5800. Can that mobile handle that for 5 days? just a bit curious. And It will actually last me atleast 2.5 days or more if i didnt force the battery to drain on the 2nd night.
If i did not do all those abuse, I will definitely say that the battery life will at least more than 5 days.. and to think that touchscreen devices consumes a wee bit more of energy than the usual mobile.
Anyway mate, I don't want to argue with someone who cannot give me any factual infomation. Because if that's the case, I can also just say that my Nokia 5110, 3210 and 3310 lasts me more than 5 days.. YAWN.

I just bought this phone off craigslist and I LOVE IT. I checked to see what firmware I have and it says -20.1.014- Now, is it nessesary to dl the new firmware? Or could I just wait til the new one comes out? I've read that the latest fw (30) is not a big upgrade. Also, what are the settings for OTA upgrade? I like in the U.S and am with T MOBILE. Thanks in advance.
