Try low parameters for MP3. They sound far better than AMR, and it is less than 1 Mb for a full song. I use Wavepad (free) for the encoding (VBR). I have used AMR Mobile Converter (free), the output file size is about the same as low MP3 but result is really bad.

I got mine last dec (2005), quite disappointed coz i just sent it in to service centre again. It's already the second time BLANK SCREEN. I dun use much of it's feature and basically for calls and smsing. My sis-in law and bro had the same phone. Sis-in law had the same problem and bro had software problem. I am surprise that someone finds it good. Maybe you are just lucky to get the good piece. In our family, out of the three pieces, all got sent in to service centre within a month. i am very relunctant to let it go but i can't afford to visit Nokia Care Centre every month. I ask the service staff at care centre if the phone was good, she just briefing reply " i will see you again" I guess we all know what she meant.

Mayb u r right, but y not get the best quality of .AMR instead of lowest quality of .MP3? already discovered that .amr is way clear n better than the lowest quality of .mp3, a full song size of .amr is roughly bout 600KB - 800KB , yes don need to use the media player, but ehey~~ u can play full songs from gallery instead, if inneed of media player, like others suggest, MP3 player, hehe.. oh ya anyway to convert to .AMR format, i use "AMR Converter Pro" ,

I've had my Nokia 6111 for 2 months now, and love it.
To Ruthie...the speakerphone is actually really loud, but obviously sounds slightly distorted if on full volume.
The phone looks very sexy, but when you're using the numbered keypad, it sounds and feels a little bit 'plastic-y' - for want of a better word!
The battery life is quite short, but, as an example, I keep my mobile on from first thing in the morning, til late(approx 16 hours a day), and find that if I only use it for short calls and texting it will last about 4 days without needing a charge. If it's had a real hammering that day ie calls totalling over an hour, it would need charging that evening. The battery is smaller than my old Nokia 3220, so it's bound to need charging more frequently.
I don't feel this is a problem, and unless your away from a power supply for a long period of time, you probably won't find it a problem either.
If in doubt, get another battery for backup!
I can only fit about 3 songs on the phone, so if you're thinking of getting it because it's an MP3 player, my advise would be to look elsewhere.
Overall, if you just want a sexy looking phone for everyday use, this phone is spot on.

Hi, i've been looking at the reviews for this phone as i really want the white one but reviews have been written to say that the speakerphone doesnt have good sound quality and when you are on a call even on normal volume, the call isnt very loud. Can someone verify whether this is true or not??? thanks !!

To Azzy
Nice idea to use AMR instead of MP3 to save memory.
But I think you can achieve the same result still using MP3, with lower setting parameters (mono, low bitrate, low quality compression)
Moreover, the Music Player of the 6111 won't play AMR files.
But still it may be good for ringtones.
