You are holding the 0 too long, if you just tap it, it works. If you press and hold 0 it is a speeddial to the web services, as 1 is to voicemail.
I think people are just so paranoid about this phone now, they are finding faults.
Apparently, the ONLY fault that has been confirmed on this phone is some firmware may make the screen go blank or reboot.
I had that on my Nokia 6600 and a firmware update solved it. (I havent had that problem yet on 6111)
I have had the Nokia 6111 over a week now. The battery life is fine, once you get used to the fact it goes down to half quickly then takes 3-4 days to move again. People just panic when it halves cos I admit is isnt the best battery indicator.
I love the phone. The amount of heads it has turned is amazing! Everyone I have shown the phone to have gasped in awe.
I dont deny that some people have had problems, this can happen with a new release phone. But it can happen with ANY phone.
If you like it, I would recommend it. I still have the pink one on order too and am now selling my pink 6230i on ebay, as I have road tested this enough now.

Just been down my local shopping centre to buy the 6111 on orange pay as you go only to find out it is not avaliable yet. In all the shops i went in they hadn't got a clue when it will be avaliable on orange payg? Has anyone else had this problem or know any more information? Thanks.

To the person who comments they've only had the phone the few days and can't understand the complaints about it... give it a month.

you need to resize your pictures. it can be done by using the Nokia PC Suite software that comes with it.

hi i've placed order for the silver color as there's no stock.. but now hearing that there r so much complains i'm rather dishearten. Is it true that the sms doesnt shows time and date received? also.. can't make calls after changing wallpapers? If there's any of u who doesn't have this problem pls voice out.. at least i won't feel that hopeless then.. thx.

The new firmware V 3.45 is avalaible at the Nokia Service Points.
I'dont know what the changes are from V3.41(the original) firmware?

I just bought this phone. anyone tried changing the wallpaper to your own picture?? if you have, you will notice that now you CANNOT make any outgoing calls because when you dial a phone number starting with 0 or 1 it will go to web/voicemail!!!!
apparently this is a firmware problem on ALL 6111. you have been warned!
ps. anyone who has successfully changed the wallpaper please let me know- thanks!!

(RE: SJ - The first charge of the battery needs to be at least 8 hours and you still wont have full battere charge until the battery has completely discharged and then charged a couple of times. It needs wearing in.)
It still doesn't work, so I took it back to the Carphone Warehouse on Wednesday and they have ordered me in a new handset, which i'm going to make them test before they send me away with it this time!! Lol. SJ x

hey I Bought this phone 2 days ago I and like it very much. My one has no problems, and I hope it wont! lol =) anyway the only negative thing about it is that the glossy black back side of the phone gets scratched very easily because the material is very sensitive and that makes me crazy!!so if u cant decide what colour to buy get the silver or pink one, but the black one is still the most chic one !

I have had the Nokia 6111 for a few days now and I just can understand all the negative things that people are saying about it? It looks GREAT! Slides open and closed very easily! And this size of it! Well, very sexy indeed! It is a phone that EVERYONE admires, male AND female! It is not the most sophisticated phone on the market but who wants all that in a mobile phone? In my opinion I would tell everyone if they are thinking about buying this phone to go ahead and buy it!

BTW - Anyone brave enough to copy this whole page of complaints to Nokia who insist (seriously lol!) that there's been no adverse comments made to them!?

I did really want this phone as it's a pretty one at last for us girls (in the pink) until I read these reviews. I am a little perplexed though :o/
I'm sure Nokia can't afford to deliberately put all these phones out if they're faulty, only to get them all back, perhaps th first lot out had the problem, and the rest are ok, as I've emailed Nokia twice and they have not recalled them or intend to.
What d'ya think guys? T x

Hey,
Get rid of your 6111. It has a major defect, that's why they didn't get it out on time. The ribbon cable connecting the two parts of the phone breaks easily and with time. Also Nokia knows that and its warranty does not recognise these default. It's one of the worst phone Nokia has put on the market for a long time from the technical side. Buy the Samsung instead.

I have had mine for over a month now and I love it to bits. No problem with features and battery life or ribon, etc... screen quality and usability are very good. A very stylish phone and very good working. I don't understand why some people complain!

nice phone, but alot of problems with the slide mechanism catching and ripping the ribbon that connects the circut board to the screen. wolud recomend the samsung D600 or D500 if you want a good slide phone.

I have had my 6111 since it first came out and i love it.. the features are great, the sliding mec does not screech or make a noise and i have had no problems with batt life or anything.. No downfalls to buying this phone and you will be extremly happy with it.. Dont listen to all the other reviews they probably dont even own a 6111.. good job Nokia..
