My friend just bought one yesterday. Nice looking phone, but it makes a kind of grinding noise when you push the screen to open the phone. Definitely there is a problem with the sliding mecanism

Well, I just want to say thanks to everyone who's been posting on this forum thing recently. I got my 6111 at xmas but read the reviews after I'd got it as it was a present etc. So when the stupid thing started making a disturbing clicking sound when I pushed the screen up I knew that its life expectancy had plummeted to Not Very Long. After three days of this sound, I pushed it up just now and the screens gone completely. If you hear a clicking sound on your phone please *please* save all your numbers immediately while it still works. Other than it now not working at all, it had plenty of glitches before then as mentioned by other people here. For example, resetting itself, and not letting you use the 0 key when you have a photo as wallpaper.
All in all, not a happy bunny with Nokia.

SJ - The first charge of the battery needs to be at least 8 hours and you still wont have full battere charge until the battery has completely discharged and then charged a couple of times. It needs wearing in.
I've had mine on for 2 days with limited talk time but have been playing games and have only just lost the first slice of battery.
Mark Burton - The video will record longer than 10secs. Check video setting and set video clip length to maximum.
Donna - has now stopped screeching thank god, must have worn itself in.

I had a quick look at a friend's 6111 and as far as I could see he was only able to record 10 seconds of video at a time - is that the case or can that be changed?

I currently own a Nokia 6600. After reading all the comments posted I am unsure as whether to buy the Nokia 6111. What is the overall consensus, yes to the Nokia 6111 or do the cons outway the pros? Appreciate any advice and opinions. Cheers.

Recently I purchased this phone from www.saberpoint.com and when I first got it I was alittle doubtful but once I started playing around with the phone I really started to love it. Great external display, cool slider design, very nice camera, and easy to navigate menu. This phone also has great reception and call quality I am using it with T-mobile. I would give the phone a 5 but the materials seem alittle cheap that nokia used.

I purchased my Nokia 6111 this afternoon from carphone warehouse and after an hour charging it, I turned it on, goes to the time set-up and then the screen goes blank. I rung carphone warehouse up and the guy said to me it's some sort of "safety feature" on the 6111 and won't work 'til the phone's at least 75% charged. So anyway, it's been on for a further 2 hours now and is still going blank when it gets to the time settings. *sighs* ...and I though buying a new phone and setting it up was easy!!
Anyone got any suggestions? Anyone elses take ages to charge before it worked properly?

Mat,
My phone screeched when I opened it at first, that seems to go away after a while.
Donna,
I am the same, love the phone but battery life is shocking. One 1 min call and a text message and I have lost a quarter of the battery.
Has anyone found whether after the half a battery shows it slows down a bit and you get more battery life in the 2nd half, like you did in other Nokias?

I'm tyred of waiting.... and the fact that there are so many negative reactions. I dont believe the phone is worth waiting for. I think i will buy the Samsung D720.
Good luck Cruz...

Had the phone for a few days now and have not had any of the problems spoken about before.
I did have to wait a while for the phone so maybe I received one of the new batch of 6111's.
Battery life is good no worse than any of my previous phones.
Looks, feels good.
Only 1 slight picky fault. When sliding its starting to screech a little but i can put up with that.
Overall very impressed!

keeping in mind that this phone was released for women, the only hitch i can think for now is to open the cover for charging the phone, if you dont have nails, your goin to find it tough......

for all those people who are complaining about low battery life, get your phones checked. I bought the phone last evening, changed all the settings possible, charged it for just 40 minutes, made a few calls, tranferred files and my entire phonebook via bluetooth and the battery is still good. Maybe certain batches came with a faulty battery, but on the whole this fone has a good battery. you can record 1 hour of video, if you dont have other images and songs stored, all based on your freespace.

Can any1 tell me how long the 6111 can record for a vid and music? The reason is because im deciding between a 6111 and a pebl. Ive heard the pebls camera really lets it down and i was wondering if i would be better off buying the 6111? Cheers , Scott
