a good fone for a starter. but for me its really a waste of money. you could be better off with a 7610, having also 1mp and the clincher, its a smartphone. my gf bought it a week ago and already it had problems. it always turns blank when it wants to. as if it cannot coup up with the task its been given. sometimes all the settings you've already changed turned to its original settings for example the settings for the profiles and themes. so you have to start all over again setting this and there. and when you go to the templates in the messaging and play with it, it will crash. not to mention that its choosy in the audio and video department also. it will accept all mp3 files, but will only choose a certain wav files, and that also goes to mpeg4 files. it cannot record mpeg4, only play it as it says in the manual. unfortunately to this day, my gf still cannot played any in her 6111.
do you have the same problem?

When I first looked at this phone, I loved the appearance so much because its so small and looks exactly like a digital camera.. But after reading the comments posted about it .. about the screen going white and the ribbon tearing im having second thoughts about it although i do love the design a lot..
Was just wondering for users of this Nokia 6111.. if you had friends with the nokia 6720.. would u recomend the 6111 or 6270 or is the 6270 as bad and unstable??
havent read any positives about this phone yet...

I gave up waiting for the Nokia 6111. Apparently it's out next week through Optus but they've been saying that for months.
I ended up getting the Nokia N70 - It's fantastic and I'm so glad I didn't get the 6111! I was having second thoughts at the end anyway about the 6111. There seems to be lots of problems with it.
The camera quality is amazing on the N70, and although I have a 6.1 megapixel camera, I love having a 2 megapixel camera on my phone, it's great for catching spontaneous photos. Plus the memory on the 6111 would never be enough (yes, I eat my previous words about memory cards!), plus the screen is too small on the 6111.
Anyway, if you can afford it, the N70 is fantastic! I'm really glad I stuck with Nokia in the end.

Had the phone 2 weeks. The problem with the dial "0" connecting to the Internet (and "1" connects to VM), is caused by using a large pic. Reduce the file size on photoshop and reload to phone, then you can dial "0" or "1" ok. Everything else is ok - battery, slider, camera. Volume is a little better than my old nokia, but maybe not as good as other phones. Keypad is too small for heavy texting. Feels ok, looks great.

alansm, your is a well known problem of this phone.
Some people resolved it by taking off the personal picture set as desktop.
Just try that way! ;)

Well, my friend just bought this phone a week ago.
Here is a serious problem he encountered. While trying to dial up a local telephone number that start with 'zero' e.g 02-xxxxxxx,
the '0' zero keypad will activated the Web Service. (It's actually a shortcut key). Normally, this feature should only be activated when the user press & hold the key.
Unfortunately for Nokia 6111, even the slightest press will cut straight to Web Service. No way to go around the problem. This could be a firmware error or else; could be a fatal problem. Please let me know if this is only a one off probelm in my friend phone. Thank you:(

i have been reading all ur comments about this fone and it really puts me off, and now finking twice about geting it. wud any1 kno if the white screen and d ribbon being torn knos if nokia is fixing it? cos i lyk this fone

Well, I've waited this AWSOME phone for months, since I first saw it in early 2005.
For Xmas I got it has a present, and started to use it on Dec 26.
In one day of massive use, the screen turned blank several times.
I brought it back to the shop, they're going to change it with a new one. Lesshope the new one is better, even if I fear it's a natural bug of this phone.
Ev'ryone interested in Nokia 6111, this is a Great cellular, but my opinion is to wait before buying it for some months, i.e. the time the finnish brand will need to fix this bug.

I got the 6111 a couple of weeks ago and haven't had any problems with white screen or anything like - but - does anyone else get a clicking noise from the keypad when using the zoom on the video? It's driving me mad and makes the phone feel cheap.

i reaaaaaaaallly want this phone but ive heard alot about the ribbon tearing and the screen going blank, whos phone has NOT done this? I am hoping to buy it 1st Jan but im worried about this... HELP!

I got a nokia 6111 for christmas and was so happy because this is such a wonderful phone.
There's only one problem i'm having. Sometimes when i want to go into a certain
application, say for instance, into messages
or gallery or whatever my screen goes blank.
And throughs me out, to start again.I have this phone now for only few days, is this normal?

My son bought the Nokia 6111 on Ebay about two weeks ago. On December 23rd the slider mechanism started making a clicking type noise and the screen went white. Since we bought it off Ebay there was no warranty, so we took the phone apart. The connecting ribbon was torn, it looked like the spring may have torn the ribbon. Does anyone know where we can buy a new ribbon? We would like to fix the phone.

i have this phone, it is great! there is only one small problem...when u have a photo as a wallpaper when u press 0 it takes u straight to the internet, it is a bit annoying! does anyone no if there's a way to fix this?

for UKers I had a go on the nokia 6111 in the link and the phone was really nice so much better than the dummy models that are in the shopsat the moment :D Really like it think Im gonna get it but really have no money to get it at the moment. :(

Are there also users who are happy with their 6111 and have no probs?
Still got 2 questions:
- how is the speaker volume? Some say loud enough some say very low...
- Is it available in Silver Grey?
