I love my Nokia 6230. I've had it for a year now and the phone company have offered me a new model. Il be really sad to let it go! The only wierd things are that when I first got it it couldn't detect the headphones but another nokia 6230 could use the headphones from mine. Also it crashes when your playing music, videos and games. Finally after a while the phone couldn't detect memory card so if I wanted to play any music on it I had to go in to the memory card and play induvidual tracks instead of using the media player. Even with these flaws its still an excellent phone and I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you dont get a lemon like I did!

of course you can connect PC Suite via Bluetooth. Just click on te icon "manage Connection" in the PC Suite and select Bluetooth.

And the great thing about 6230, it can send ANY TYPE OF FILES thru BT, even mp3. Even as you're playing Mp3 files thru the Digital Music Player, just press "option >tracklist >options >send>via BT" - and the mp3 files is sent.. on the fly!

This is the best model in nokia cause it has every function that u can have in Nokia 6600. Smaller and smarter than Nokia 6600. Very suitable model for guys cause can kept easily in pocket not like Nokia6600.

The quality of the mp3 music im sure is really as good as ipods (like what NOKIAMIA said), i cant see any major difference between my pals ipod and my gr8 6230. The only thing worth mentioning is that the 6230's mp3 players volume is satisfactory but it really needs to be boosted in volume, solved with a Boostaroo amp, it doubles the sound output. also you really need a 512mb mmc card or bigger to have lots of songs! but for a phone the mp3 is out standing

Just 2 boxes down, you could see a my wish-list for my beloved 6230 replacement. Then suddenly, news broke out about Nokia N91. Out of my 4 wishes - N91 covers ALL of it!!! To me, for now, only N91 is worth it enough to replace my 6230. Until N91 comes out, I'd recommend anyone the 6230!

dc, yes, it has a speakerphone. but for listening mp3, use a headphone. music quality of 6230 could even suprise ipodders.

                          Does this phone have speakerphone??

                          Thanks!

Worth the jump to the 6230i?

I got this phone a few weeks ago, it is exellent, compact, looks good, full of features and very practical. The Mp3 player is Fantastic, only problem the max volume is a little quite but i solved it by buying a Boostaroo Headphone volume booster which doubles the sound out-put now the mp3 is much louder. The MMC card slot is fantasic i have a 512mb one in it, it works great. The video recorder is pretty good a little pixelated but u can easily see whats happening. The screen is exellent quality compared to older 4k color nokia screems. I reccomend this phone to anyone. 9/10!!

                              Agree with you Sola.

For those who have been in this forum for the past year, should know that I've been with the 6230 for so long now (even my wife has a 6230 too)... and I'm still loving it. BUT I will still not go for 6230i just yet... until a replacement that has below improvements, then i'll get that new phone...

                              1) the phone has an "airplane" profile... meaning that it could be used in airplane where the phone-radio (NOT FM radio) is turned off, but i can use the phone e.g. to listen to music, read SMS etc.

                              2) i can create a playlist for the Digital Music Player. Meaning i could select the my playlist instead of the phone playing ALL of the mp3 files in it.

                              3) able to hook up a 3.5mm headphone jack - this is a MUST! Serious businessman wants quality in everything, even when listening to music.

                              4) file management includes multiple-select, copy & paste functions. With memory card of 512MB - this is critical.

All of the above AND -- using the simple Series 40 interface - not Smartphone e,g, Symbian or any other. And of course, looks as elegant as a 6230.

Until this imaginary phone comes out (please Nokia), i'll just stick to me 6230 - which is blossoming with firmware 5.35 and 512Mb card.

To Luke: The functionality of 6230 is only matched by its simplicity and practicality. The easiest way to boost memory is to install a higher capacity memory card. A 128MB card would do fine but if you desire bags of space, I'd suggest you upgrade to 512MB like I've done. Although I've heard that 6230 can take up to 1Gb, I'm yet to try it out however. Ever heard of Nokia PC suite? You can download and install it from the nokia website. It's a cinch to back up data from your phone memory into a PC/notebook via cable or bluetooth coonection with the pc suite. I recommend the bluetooth option. It is blazingly fast with 6230. Attach a bluetooth-to-usb device to make the PC compatible first.

this is easily the best phone ive had. i had a nokia 3100 and samsung X600 (the samsung broke so i went back to the 3100) before this. and the similaraties between the 2 phones are obvious from the start. all modern nokias are very similar. in the menus the way the phone looks the way it sounds etc. obviously on the more expencive models better features are added. this phone to me is like any other nokia phone. very reliable, nice clear sound in calls. easy to use menus. From experience nokia is probably the best phone brand along with motorola. there phones are solid and reliable.
i had a samsung X600 as mentioned aoe the phone kept freezing for no reason when writing msgs. sure it was nice lookin had a good screen good ring tones but it could be quite, it would only vibrate and ring on certain ringtones. the nokias dont have any of these problems.

over all i think the phone is very good. sure the display isnt as fancy as some of the competition. but over all its a very solid bright high qaulity screen. and with a large capcity memory card this phone can be used as an mp3 player. the camara is pretty good qaulity. altho the lack of digital zoom can be annoying. the phone can handle true tone ringtones quite respectivly. I got mien on a contract and id definitley recomend anyone else to considerthis phone. although nokia are bringing out the 6230i out very soon. which improves quite a few aspects on the phone. including a new 1.3 megapixel camara

But over all its a great phone!
