Hi Sukhbinder,
Thanks for your valuable inputs. They were really helpful. My mobile both as per numberingplans website and the code you mentioned seems to be a july maufacured one. I am actually surprised that still it has older firmware. I shall get it updated soon to 3.30 to solve the hang issues.I also read somewhere that 3.30 has fixed issues with phone not identifyinh aac music tracks. I have confirmed that the latest in India is 3.30 as of now.
I would be careful before I upgrade to 3.40 as some people say it does not have the audio enhacement option in the menu. this is problematic if it does not by default is switched on in this firmware.
I have been seeing your posts for quite some time now and I know is very horrible if you land up with a defective piece. The guys in call centre and service centre as just useless. Hope you get a proper replacement soon.

    He Kewl,
The problem that u say about the phone freezing while playing video is an issue with v3.25. its said that in v3.25 the phone tends to hang when using the camera/Music player/video recorder. this issue has been fixed in v3.3. Its said that v3.4 is out but i don't know if its available in india. i've had 3 6230i phones, one was the one i purchased and the other two were the replacemnts i got from nokia. I'm not sure but Kewl i think u should check up the warranty code of your phone (type *#92702689#) to see ur phones maufacturing date or check using its IMEI number on www.numberingplans.com . it happened that i got mine on 9th may with v3.25 and the date on the box was arpil 05 but the warranty code and IMEI number analysis gave the date to be 6 Jan'05. I had the ascending ringtone problem (well i still have it even in my 2nd replacement) i updated to v3.3. I got my 2nd replacemnt on 30 june, manufacture date 6 Jan'05 v3.3. My third set i got on 5th August with manufacturing date 1 June'05 v3.3. it happened that the nokia service centre replaced my v3.3 with v3.25 and i experienced the phone freezing and rebooting in the videorecoreder/player. i suggest u check the manufacturing date and if its a Jan'05 phone i highly recommend u getit replaced as the june'05 phone is quite improved in performance than the Jan'05 one. Contact the nokia office and HCL service at bangalore promptly for it. Please check for the ascending ringtones and SMS tones when the volume is set to max. i've been having this issue since i got this phone and after 3 replacements its still there. Nokia says that v3.3 has some issues with hindi SMS, if u don't use hindi SMS then its fine t go for v3.3. check up this forum for earlier posts where u can get a list of issues with v3.25 and the improvements with v3.3

      Hi,
I am from Bangalore, and I have finally brought a new 6230i just day before yesterady.
Manufacturing date says july 2005, but the software version is 3.25.
But I did not face any issues as such. After a days use including some video recording, fiddling with the different oprtions and bluetooth transfer for about and hour, there just 2 bars down.
I dont use the highest volume level and I have no ascending prblem also.

The phone did freeze once after it played the Nokia Demo video from external memory. Can some one list the fixex in 3.30 wrt to 3.25.

Hi guys, i agree with kaiser that the ascending rintone problem may be a feature. Well i was checking up my handsfree, and it seems that the ascending problem exists even for the handsfree. In my opinion as generally the handsfree and speaker hardware driver componets are independent to each other, this ascending thing is something that has been programmed as such in the phone. If its a problem, then surely its a software problem, and not a hardware one. Whats ur opinion guys?

          hi everyone

i have a 6230 and a 6230i.. the latter bein the new 3.3 version. i still find my 6230 more louder than the 'i'. i couldn keep the 6230 on full volume cus it wass too loud in public! but the 'i' is hardly audible. plus the increasing volume prob on max control. guess we all have to adjust to tat. hey do u guys know how to get a theme makin software for the 'i'?

Very rare applications are there for Java phones. Sis files are for symbian phones so there is little hope of getting applications for this phone and if you get them they will be of minimal use.

Try to connect to S.E.HBH-600 bluetooth, but can't connect if bluetooth is already paired with other any phone.

its interesting everyone comments about the ascending ringtone when the volume is set to 5. everyone thinks its a problem.

but most likely nokia will think its a added value feature and not a problem. perhaps their thinking is that no one will jump when the phone starts to ring softly first then to max. vol.....

and added feature? perhaps? we just cant get used to it?

Hi guys, still stuck with the annoying ascending rintone proble at max volume. Contacted Nokia, they say resubmit handset, and go all over again. Can any one get me the fax numbers of nokia's regional headoffice in singapore and their headoffice in finland. i thinking of dropping them a fax about this problem, it may not be very encouraging but here in india the Nokia people are very slow and just don't know anything about their phones. i tried the numbers in the nokia website but those numbers just don't seem to exist. Even the numbers in india's website are old and have not been updated.
well some one asked about the sound quality of 6230 and 6230i, 6230i is better but 6230 does not have the annoying ascending ringtone problem. try a handset made in Hungary, the place where nokia developed the 6230 and 6230i at its research center. it seems that the Ungary made sets have the least complains. Here in India we have only china made sets, that also i think at the low quality ones.

strange thought they should just have a function that says no theme selected.

anyway its a great phone.... just little things that makes me wonder why its like that
