MAC,
When you plug in the DKU-2 cable it will ask you "use phone as storage data?". If accept, no drivers as require and you can use it as separate drive to store files.
However, if you press reject it will become "data enhancement connected" for the usage in conjunction with the Nokia Suite. It didn't work properly for me until I installed the drivers as provided by the Nokia suite CD disc.

Rich,
If you read my comments carefully, I never said anything about being in the screensaver mode at all. The lights just comes on at random times out of the blue at power saving mode and not in any screensaver mode. None of my other 5 Nokias in the past ever done that b4. And I've read through the manuel, it doesn't mention about the display lights come on a random basis.
Quite a lame excuse by Nokia to claim the ascending ringtones is a "feature" and/or to protect the phone's speaker. Than why is Nokia 3120 ringtone can be so loud? They telling us that 6230i are installed with an inferior speakers?

The screensaver will activate after the "standby" screen light's off with the specify time(can preset). The powersave mode will overwrites all after a "fixed" time(cannot be set) that's why users doesn't understand why backlights on & off by itself. Infact, it stated clearly on the manual, maybe spent sometime reading will helps to clear several doubts.

i read from some people here that the light comes on and off for this 6230i....
i realised its nokia way of saying... hey the screen saver is switched on now... :)
anyway the fireware is not very stable. i have set mp3 songs as my sms ring tones. but that day some how or another when a friend of mine text me, the ring tone was the default nokia tone.... strange...but now its fine...

I've actually called up Nokia several times on some of those feedback, but they claims so far no issues, maybe user doesn't know how to express it, ascending is to protect the speaker, battery worn because user play with it offen....etc, they just deny on all the defect in it!! True that Nokia is going down slope already, sooner will be taking over by Samsung or SE. Sometimes really felt that its headache to get a high end phone rather than just a simple one.

Hi Rich,
I have the same 3.30 version too, and also have the exact same sms scenario as yours when I set a song as the tone. The sms tone is ascending when I set my tone to maximum level. :(
The user who stated that his/firmware is 3.40, do you experienced any of these problems regarding ascending sms/ringtones? Problems with muted ringtones too? If not, I hope Nokia can offer upgrades for us 3.30 users.

Opsi, forgot to mention that this sudden muted ringtones happens to a number of my user groups. Tired deleting them etc, reset and so on, still missed calls as the result of the sudden muted ringtones. In the previous set of Nokias, it was restricted to 5 user groups only, but with the 6230i, one can create many user groups. Improve feature, but it lacks functionality. Pointless Nokia!
Their so called "support" ain't no help either, ignores them or tell me they have "noted" my complaint. Blah!
And yes, this ascending ringtones is annoying, especially as its not even loud in the first place.

Hi Fred,
Just tested what your written and its true, it happened exactly as you described. I've complainted here before about the sudden muted ringtones, it usually (but not always) happens when I use a bluetooth and then I disconnected it. But it doesn't always happen, still cannot figure exact reason why it rings perfectly one moment, then the next, no ringtones, no vibration (even though it is set on). Really very disappointed with this phone as I pre-ordered this after seeing the many features. Hopefully they will have a software upgrade soon to solve this, otherwise this will be my last ever Nokia I will purchase.
As for the battery life - as other users mentioned - take note that the phone's light comes on every now and then for no reason (even if the battery saving function is on), this could attribute to the poor battery life. Another Nokia software problem.

There is a manufacturing defect in this model. If the ring tone is set to max (5)it will ring at only level 2 or 3 after having used the voice dail function. The phone settings have not changed yet it still rings at a low level. If you check the ring volume it will still say 5 even though it is not.
The only way to fix this is to turn the phone off and then turn it back on again. However, the problem will occur again next time you use the voice dail function.
I tested on several brand new phones and they all have this problem. Nokia was not aware of the problem and currently do not have a fix for it so I ended up returning it and buying an different brand.
