I bought this phone last week from Bangalore. I don't have any problems with the ascending ringtone as mentioned here by other guys. I have not tried with mp3 tones yet, but my other tones start at volume 3 and ascends to 5 in abt 3-5 seconds. So no problems with that. As for message alert tone, no problems at all. It's audible without any problems. My firmware version is 3.3.
So far I've quite liked the phone. But the downsides are poor battery life & slow menu. Add to it, no sms distribution list. But still can cope up with it. On the up side, camera is much better than what i thought, after i read all the user reviews. Serves my purpose, but the night shots are grainy. The sound quality is also good. So satisfied with the phone up till now.

Thank you very much Paul and Rep. I've got it. I've used "ImTOO 3GP Video convert" to convert WMV and AVI movies file to 3GP movies. And that file can play by the phone. But the quality is not good. The video goes behind the audio. So, I disappoint about the video player function of this phone. But, that is better have no one! Thank again!

i stated that "ON 6 BARS THE PHONE COULDNT POSSIBLY LAST U A DAY"
iam well aware that the phone has 7bars.
next time, do all of us a favour and stop pointing out errors on peoples msgs that are not valid "THINK BEFORE YOU INK"

New "designed problem" again...other than the sick ascending problem, I've encounter that the volume button at the side require "quick" press inorder to increases volume as otherwise, it will switch to the PPT mode. BUT, when in idle stage(when listening to radio) no matter how quick u press, no use!!? Just wonder the designer thinking going backwards...

Hi guys, i'm still stuck with the ascencing ringtone problem. Even my new replacement set has this problem. As per my opinion nearly all phones in India which were of the April-May'05 batch have this problem irrespective of the firmware version. The replacement i got was a loose set without a box so i cannot find its date of manufature. Does some one have any way to find the manufacturing date of my handset. The ascending problem is only when the ringer volume is at level 5, this even exists for the SMS tone (i tried a longer duration tone and found this flaw). i've checked out with midi files also but still the same ascending problem. Does any one else in India have these problems?

The phone is the greatest!!! Russia is going crazy for it! It's almost imposibble to get it... Huge lines!!! Got it yesterday!!! So happy!!

I think it can only play 3gp and mpeg4 formats.I tried 3gp,the quality isnt good,in fact,K700's video playing is of better quality.NOt sure about the mpeg4

This phone cannot play .wmv or .avi or .mpg files. Please convert the above formats in .3gp format for the phone to play. You can use ImTOO 3GP Video Converter for the purpose. Regards.

i dont know which phone to buy,,, the Nokia 6230i or the sony k750i? sony k750i has zoom and flash and is alot better rite??

Hi everyone!
My phone have upgraded to 512Mb memory card, and I've copied 'wmv' movie file to my phone but it cant play that file. After that I've used the "WMV to AVI MPEG VCD SVCD DVD Converte" to converte it to "avi" movie file, but my phone still can not play that converted files. So,Does my phone have problem or Are those files not the format of the phone? Thank you very much in advance for your answer my silly question!

Mike, what a joke? you are still asking whether to buy 6230i ot k700. K700 is an outdated VGA camera phone, no memory card slot, no need to go further.
Nokia 6230i is the one of the best phone that Nokia created and hard to be beaten. Sonyericsson is still far behind.

All other applications working well, except the radio which never gives stereo effect. Even my cheap walkman sounds great during stereo reception.

Hello, I have a N6230i, it`s perfect, if u have the right money, buy it, BUT i have a problem with movies, I transferd movies and video clips in my phone and it says "file format not supported"(i tried .avi and .mpeg)what can I do?

i have a 6230i and i must say that the battery really sucks.6 bars on the phone couldnt possibly last u a day (well offcourse you gonna use the phone a lil bit) but still.i fully charged my phone the previous nite.b4 i went to bed,it went down to 6 bars, when i awoke this morning i had full batery life again. weird huh!!
but overall GREAT phone, you cant go wrong.
well theres my opinion.

What's the Nokia 6230i's battery stand-by time?I don't know what to choose beetwen Nokia 6020 and Nokia 6230i as regarding the battery's stand-by time?
(And please do not tell me the official site number of working time hours!!! I wanna know the real working time from the 6230i's users!!!)Thanx A Lot!!!

Hi Kay, u just git a replacement for your 6230i,well does your handset still have the ascending ringtone problem, well mine still has it and the same is evident for the sms tone also( i tried with a long duration tone ans found that its ascending just like the normal ringtone). i checked out with midi tones also but still the same, i just can't make it out that does the new batch in delhi still have the problems or was my repalcement from the older batch. Can any one help me out ? are all 6230i users having the same problems?

Hi guys, pls help me. I'hve bought a 6230i just last day. But not even made a call on it. Because it is not staying on screen, it goes disappear in 5 to 10 seconds. And after again reboot I'hve the same problem.
