sorry my nokia hated still exists
if you actually read the review they final note stated frankly that the t9 was very poor...
yet you state that it is a phone and for talking and messaging... why would you include messaging when the t9 is very poor...
more nokia junk for the trash pile of never ending nokia crap pile

Guys remember what we have here is basically a phone. Let us not judge the 6230i for its lack of some features because its intention is really bringing us means of communication such as talk and messaging functions. Whats great is that it has tons of features yet its not considered as a smart phone. It even outperforms some of the smartphones available. I think this is the phone for practical users because all of the basic phone features are there plus a lot of extra multimedia features can be found. This is indeed a good purchase.

others are right about this phone, it is a mobile phone and not a home theater or digicam...but at least it has almost all the features needed by a mobile phone user, it's compact with all the important features and latest technology...
nothing is perfect in this world so don't expect that phone manufacturers will create the perfect phone...not making a perfect phone is a marketing strategy, so for now, let's be happy that nokia creates phones like the 6230i...

I have spent some time researching the 6230i, K750i and W800i on the Internet, and I am gonna share my thoughts with you. I have been a Nokia user for about 4,5 years, and are up to make a decision on buying a new phone (preferably Nokia)... I think the features are very advanced on the W800i / K750i. The pictures made by the K750i are of a great quality, and SE announced improved sound features. I guess that the improved multimedia features are due to the co-operation with Sony. To me, though, in the end a phone should primarily work as a mobile phone. With this in mind, and the experiences with Nokia, I think the phone quality and data features are better on Nokia's 6230i. So, this must be the trade off: features and size of memory, then SE, quality of phone / data, then Nokia. But, as with other "i" models of Nokia, this model will serve as a bridge between old and new technology. Nokia is most likely preparing for a completely new phone, with all the advanced features (an indication would be the freshly released 8800/8801). I anticipate that Nokia releases a succesor of the 6230i in Q4,2005. Including the Microsoft Media Player features... So, when you decide for the 6230i, it will be outdated at this time next year! What to do?!

Hey everyone. I think the major flaw of this phone is a lack of a microsubwoofer and a surround sound sistem for a better sonic recieption. And that`s not all-also I think it would be nice to enhance a screen to around 12" like a small laptop screen, but to make it folding to be able to downsize when necessary,ah? And how about a 10xzoom+5
Mp camera? Sounds good now? LoL..You-tech addicted geeks, you forgat what the phone os for at all...All Nokia phone are the best in reception and that`s their best advantage over others. This is phone, dammit, not a camera or a home theater sistem...Keep in mind, it will help you keep track of reality, guys. Good luck.

Enchancements seems to be just improvements to picture and video quality. I thought the price diff btw this and the 6230 was abit big compared to the amount of enchancement so even if the 6230 was bit old I still went ahead and bought it. It is still an excellent phone and ranks very high everywhere I've gone to from Asia to Europe. I got it for about US320 with waranty from UAE which I think is the cheapest place to buy phones. Not to mention that these are Nokia made in Germany or Hungary. Asia is getting expensive and Europe stays expensive for good phones.

I just got mine today. Man i wish i had been able to see it in person before buying. There's hardly any improvements at all. The menu is still boring and low-tech, there's lots of noise in the pictures, the email client is terrible and you can't make your own playlists for the mp3 player. You have to skip through all the mp3 and aac ringers to get to your music each time you use it. Nokia better pull their heads out because they are seriously lagging behind. This phone is my biggest disappointment from them yet.

Yeah ... Nokia 6230i was released ... what a sad day ... like the 6610 and 7250 Nokia has a passion for "i" ... no major improvements ... the same phone with a few functions + ... People buy because it is a Nokia phone ... for example if a phone is realesed today with good functions .. a top model ... after six months nokia will release a "new" model that it's allready on the market with a new function 7250 vs i : picture call and noght mode ... but the price of the phone it's much expensive then the base model ... and in this time the "new" model it's allready outclassed... Best regards ...

I had exactly the same problem with the echo. Actually it is the 6230 as this doesn't happen on any other mobile phone i use. I have a D500, 2650 and have sold my 6230 i have had 3 6230's replaced and each one of them echoed. Also to rule out it being the recievers phone just talk into the 6230 when you call a number and hear the dial tone, you will hear a echo of your own voice come through the speaker.
