Hey guys,
Update - I was "second hand" shop today, buying a sim card, when I saw a nokia 6233 in silver colour. This phone was definitely second hand, visibly clear by the massive dink on the chrome top area. some people here were saying the chrome might be reinforced plastic - but i guess they're wrong...So there you are.

No, you cannot fast forward videos. Not in my nokia anyway...

No, it cannot record calls - but you can fast forward music whilst playing - just keep the fast forward button depressed. One click will jump to next song.
And no, It did not come with a data cable.

Hey Austine,
You can receive large files, provided you got enought space on your mem card to accept such large file.
The video/audio recording capacity is dependant on your mem card, too.

Hey Carl,
It may sound silly, but have you got all your contacts saved on your phone's memory, as opposed to the sim memory?
Also, it is always an idea to do a full reset of you unit, maybe this will help.
If all fails, then the best option is to take it to a shop and get it flashed (re run the firmware)

Hey Davi,
Noisy pictures is normally related to extended zoom. Are you using the full zoom option? That, combined with hand shake, can cause noise/pixel defect.
Have you looked at your pics on your computer?
That sounds weird, and i guess you sensed right, a firmware reflash, or upgrade, will do it a favour.

the phone is quite quick, i compare it to the old 6230. The 6230i was sluggish, much too slow. The 6233 is a powerful little toy.

After your entry here, I checked out with my phone. I get what you're saying - but mine is not soooo bad. It is not brilliant either. It appears to me that rock songs have a higher pitch capacity/output than our little toy can put up with.

the internal mem is a drawback but if you are planning to have a mem card, then the external mem card and the internal mem will work in conjunction with each other. Neat!

Hey Kunal,
Have you tried resetting your phone?
Did you have the calculator option from new, then it just vanished? In this case, it could mean a problem with firmware. Give it a try, reset the baby and see what you get. If not, then reflashing the firmware is your best option.

    Looks like a very good phone. I would have bought it for sure but :
    - No flash (how can you take a picture in the dark ?)
    - Bulky size, as big as N73
    - The design is so boring, looks like a cheap phone

    With a little luck Nokia will release an improved version of it, like they did with the 6230/6230i

        yes, the 6233 has a calculator ( scientific ), 4 games, 2 in the unit and 2 in the micro sd card that came with it. i find the SE 750 easier to use, but thats because the 6233 has more features which you have to learn, and because 6233 fonts are too small. its like come on guys ( nokia ) this is designed to be a business phone - which means this could be used by guys older than 40, so the fonts and the color combination will be an eye strain for them. I hope they can fix this

          can it record calls??? if not can anybody any software for that??? and can we fast forward a track while listening to it???

            Hello guys, this is to all 6233 users:
            Please can anyone of you guys tell me if the 6233 can recieve an MP4 file worth of 20MB through bluetooth or infrared and how long does the vidoe and audio recording last.

              To Mobilguru, Yes my N6233 has problems with showing caller ID. Mine does not show on messages and even on calls most of the times. And I am sure its not a problem with the provider since my other N1100 shows all the time. How to fix this problem? I hate when I have to guess all the calls coming in or saved msg.

                  i've juz bought 6233 a days ago, i think the multimedia in this phone is perfect, plus is already 3G.

                  i have a slight problem.

                  everytime i take a picture theres like a dead pixel/ a lot of noise after i preview the image.

                  can we fix this w/ firmware upgrade

                  i will gratefull w/ any reply..thx

                    as for the random video calling, i solved that problem by choosing GSM on the network mode. the default setting is dual mode and it automatically changes to 3G whenever 3G signal is available thus causing the random videocalls and the text message failures.just go to settings>phone settings>network mode>GSM...hope this helps

                            incase this information is useful, ..I have 305 messages stored cumulatively in my inbox & sent items folders. I m deliberately not deleting them to test the capacity. ..these 305 messages have consumed 174KB of space. ..Will keep you updated on this.

                                Somebody mentioned in a previous post that this phone shows caller id for sms. IS it so? Mine does not show. May be I am missing a trick? Please let me know

                                  does anyone encounter a sound problem where you play rock songs with high volume? It has a 'creaking' sound for me. But when I play other song like hip-hop or pop songs, the creaking sound is not there. Is this normal when playing a rock song?

                                        I'm also planning to buy a Nokia 6233 to replace my 6230i. My only concern with this phone is it's low internal memory (6MB).
