>>> When it comes to design and quality, don't cheat yourself by demeaning 6233. It's made of high quality steel against w810i's plastic...

dont mislead readers by saying the unit is made of high quality steel. The only steel part is the border part design of the fone, which i think makes it heavier, the rest is plastic too like the w810i.

yah, 6233 phone features are ok. but, as what i said in my previous posts, i was not pleased with its reliability and the ringing/message tone bug even with upgraded software.

Also, higher value to cheaper one, for me is a downgrade. :-)

peace

      Hi Rob,

I noticed that on the Nokia site too, but it's not correct. You can connect the phone to a USB port on a PC using a CA-53 data cable. You can then use the phone as an external storage device, meaning the microSD card appears as a drive on the PC, and you can use Nokia PC Suite. Hope that clears things up!

In my opinion, this seems like the perfect phone...if only it had a front camera.

Can the phone connect to a PC via a USB cable? From the pics, it seems there is a USB port, but the Nokia site syas there is no USB connectivity. Kinda confused about this.

          Hey bayani,

Upgrade doesn't necessary mean getting a more expensive phone. In term of most functions (not to talk about camera) 6233 beats W810i. Even when it comes to mp3 software, i personally prefer nokia's as it can sort playlist by folder's location and song title remains on phone's standby screen unlike sony ericsson's which will only flash by on the top.

When it comes to design and quality, don't cheat yourself by demeaning 6233. It's made of high quality steel against w810i's plastic.

I've ever own w810i and while I'm impress with it's camera and the nice black walkman earpiece, what i need is more to a reliable phone.

Music player go ipod or creative, as for camera, having photo taking as a hobby, none, not even k800i can take a decent picture compared to my 4 year old panasonic lumix which is only a entry level digital camera.

          My 2cent. Peace too.. :-)

I am having an 6233 with lots of problem not happy with it. Understand my firends E60 also has problems further not all the softwares for the functions are released. Nokia with higher end phones are definitely not reliable.

                    Hi all,
I have just purchased this phone and have some lame Qs to ask:
                    1) Is MicroSD & transflash cards the same, but just different name?
Because, some sandisk cards have "transflash" written on the card, while others have "microSD", does both work on this phone?
                    2) Are sandisk or kingston cards better?
                    3) What is the correct wallpapaper picture size to fit the ph's sreen? (ie: 100 * 200 etc)
                    Thank you!

                      >>> Well.. unlike you 2, I upgraded to 6233 from W810i

Upgrade? i dont think so... here in the Phils. SE w810i costs P15K while 6233 is P12K, both brand new. And one thing, the price of 6233 drops faster than than w810i.

                      tsk.tsk... you did a downgrade :-) peace

even if you upgrade to v4.52, which i believe is the latest as of now. That ringing/message tone problem will not be fixed, just dont set the tone to max. Or better just trade to a diff model if that tone prob annoys you :-)

well i have this mobile black colour (very graceful in this colour)for the past one month and it is really good no problems yet with software or funstions. sound quality is very goood gives sensational feeling when ever is put on the stereo speakers people near by do get amazed with muzic quality. one more thing the data trasfer through bluetooth or other sources is directly to card memory no restriction of 6 mb internal memory thats great. i uploaded 11mb of video from friends SE750 and no problems. its look is very very stylish specially black one.

I've had the phone for a few days now and really like it alot. Very nice to use and well made for a change. Only problem I have is the sms alert. When I preview the alert it's quite loud but when I receive a sms it's that quite that I can't hear it go off if it's in my pocket. Firmware version 3.70. Does the newer firmware fix this problem?

I bought Nokia 6233 5 days ago and ia still having problem the ringing tone when i make call is not loud and when someone answer my call his voice is also not loud. I have set up the volume to the max (10) but the problem is still there,

                                >> It's just a small number of faulty handset

Afraid not. None of the v3.70 can edit contacts before sending sms, can set the up arrow shortcut to inbox, can use currency converter from the home screen, can have the 6233 guess words like the 6230i, video calls contacts randomly instead of voicecalls, voicemail icons re-appears randomly in shortcut list.

I've had two, branded and un-branded, and both did all the above.

810 works faultlessly, is rock solid, and if there is any updates, I can do it OTA via the web from my home Pc :)

Well.. unlike you 2, I upgraded to 6233 from W810i. Everything from the bigger screen, external speaker, price and cheaper memory card is beats SE's model. It's just a small number of faulty handset that's meddling, otherwise my 1 month old 6233 still work like a dream.

Had this phone, after less than a month, no signal!!! Phone repaired by nokia care phils, broken ic-crystal, they say. Lucky for me, warranty of 1 year. Updated version to 4.52. But still, when ringtone set to loudest, actual ring when called is rather soft for a few seconds then becomes louder. Very annoying, bug was not fixed. Try it with your units.
Decided to trade the fone before the value gets too low!!! Got the se w810i, which i am happy so far.
Btw, i noticed that nokia service center, packed with people having their fones repaired. Wat happened to nokia reliability, heared that its worse with the N series.

                                        Hey all!
I'm back! Got my phone today from Carphonewarehouse. Surprise surprise - Nokia could not fix the bugs.
They claim to have reloaded the v3.70 firmware but it did no good - so they supplied me with a brand new phone, free of charge, of course.
HOWEVER, this one still sports the V3.70 firmware, and not the new one some of you seem to have.
Nevertheless, this is slightly better than my other 6233. The sound/voice output is louder, and it has kept the network in check, not dropping it like it was before. Also, It has not restarted itself at all yet. Bear in mind though, i've onl had it for 6 hours.
I am gonna play with it this weekend and see how it performs - I'll come back on monday with more insights of this new phone.
I wonder though, what is nokia gonna do with my old one, which was brand new anyway? Probably box it up and sell it on...hehe, mad people!
                                        Take care for now,
                                        roger
