Hey Dranz - No probs with questions at all - keep them coming!
Ah, NO, the W810i is not as slow as the 6600. I had one for about 4 months, a long time ago, and that was a struggle! The W810i is definitely much better and much much quicker than that.
The battery on my brother's phone is lasting approx 2.5 days - but that's low usage on calls. He, however, uses a lot of gaming, a lot lot lot of MP3 playing and quite a bit of texting too. So i suppose for an average user, the battery should garantee you a couple of days' juice...no probs. Cheerio Dranz! rog.

Is it as slow as nokia 6600/7610?

also for the battery will it last for at least 2 days?

I'd give it a 8.5 - There's always room for improvement!
The version is 3.70 - I believe this is the only one out still.

Hey Dranz, The W810i is a good choice too. The menu is slow, but not that slooooow that you would fall asleep while typing a text message.... Oh, and the batteries are comparable to each other duration wise. Very good indeed.

Hey Dutch -You're right! I didn't see it because i removed my free memory card and inserted a new one I purchased - therefore missing the good freebies on the original card. Cheerio!!!! Roger

Roger!! My man! haha! The size of my memory card is 64mb.. not a bad size. i would prefer bigger as i take alot of photo's!!! I think 30 quid is about 55-60 dollars aus.. anyway i might just take you up on that offer of you posting one out to me.. email me for more details :) Cheers P.S Rock on 6233!! love this phone!

anyway as for my decision, i think i'd pick w810i, i dont mind the slow menus, but when you mention slow, you dont mean THAT slow right?

And which battery will last longer?

On my 6233, the "wireless presenter" feature can be found on the 64mb memory card that came with the phone.

menu ==> applications ==> memory card ==> extra ==> predefcollection ==> presenter

I haven't tried it, but i understand that it's for powerpoint and other windows applications.

You need a blue tooth adapter on your PC / notebook, and you also have to install the Nokia Wireless Presenter PC component from the software disk that came with your phone.

Hey Mac88,
I will try and help on a few points here. I am sure Surferguy and others here will also have a say to help out with your queries.

The body is mixed. the front is really solid and without creaks, the front outline is protected by a band of steel / chrome looking like material, very solid.
The back is a plastic leathery feel to touch, including the battery cover.

I haven't seen anything on the phone that presents itself as a wireless feature. Perhaps someone else has any ideas as to what this may be.

The feature you are talking about is called "Wallet". This phone was left out of this fine feature I am afraid.

The phone does not open word/excell files as it is not symbian - apparently only symbian operated phones actually provide that facility. I read somewhere that there is a software available that would enable you phone to perform such a task, however I have never tested/tried it at all.

The phone, when connected to a computer, appears as a phone, at least on my pc. You'll need the pc software package to enable it to see machine to machine.
Therefore you wouldn't be able to use your phone as an "external drive" as such.

will appreciate response to few queries about 6233 :

gsm site says that the body is of plastic. cnet asia site says that the body is of steel. what is true ?

i read somewhere that 6233 has a feature 'wireless presenter'. is this feature for moving pc powerpoint slides forward / backward ? is this feature available in 6233 ?

does this phone offer the feature wherein you can store important personal information with password protection. what is this feature called ?

does this phone offer option to open and view word / excel files ?

does this phone appear as an external USB drive when connected to laptop ?

Hi Dranz - Well, let's see.
I had a sony K750i for 8 months, then the W800i for 2 weeks and then the W810i for 2 months. Loves every single minute I had them. However, I'm a nokia kind of guy - the menus are faster, clearer, easier to use, simpler, better.
The Sonys are top of the range phones, no doubt about it. For example, the W810i you mentioned....Has an outstanding sound output, fantastic radio, even better camera with the autofocus and flash. Memory is fast too, and the package comes complete with a 512mb card to get you started. BUT the W810i is very plasticky, feels very...uhm....poor in built quality, if you know what i mean. Now, the 6233 - this is something else with the built quality, but has its downsides when put against the W810i. The cam is not as precise, lacking autofocus and flash. There's no memory included in the package (if you can call a 32mb card a memory extension freebie from Nokia anything but annoyingly useless garbage). moreover, the nokia offers such a great menu user friendly facility that blew me away. The phone captivated me in every way. There is no perfect phone in the market, we all know that; however we have learnt that we can cope with little nags in every handset. I honestly say i loved my W810i, in black, it looked the business. But the creaks and little noises coming from the battery cover made me think this was made from recycled material found in a dumpster - THIS IS definitely not the case, but do you get my meaning? I love the 6233 just the same, but because of the menu, built, design, and so on....I prefer it to the sony one. But they are certainly 2 phones worth having a good look at before making a decision. Perhaps you have a friend or someone who has a W810i you could have for a few minutes, even an hour, to play with before making your choice? It's not like I'm tempting you into the Nokia side, but have a good look before you get either. As a comparison gauge, my brother now possesses the W810i I had. I basicaly sold his old phone, gave him my w810i and got a 6233 with the money from his sell. HE is in love with the Sony,a dn wouldn't trade it for the nokia even if i gave him an extra 50quid on top to close the deal...So there you go. Specs wise, they are very similar, however the W810i's menu is slightly slower than nokia's. The cam on W810i is definitely better, even though they are both sporting a 2mp cam. I find that i prefer a bigger screen too. The 6233 has a slightly bigger screen, and better clarity. Well, as you can see, there are many variables to consider, but whatever choice you make, be certan it will be a good one, they are both excellent phones!!! hope this helped you in any way. Hi Shamsul - I think that the direct download of firmware is normally set by your current service provider...At least that's what I've always believed. Nokia has no way of doing it themselves....However, even if your service provider does it - they will provide you with an info text to advise of future occurrings on your phone system. Weird, no?
Also - Hey SAMA - The camera sound is set ata different level to the phone's itself. You'd have to have the camera shutter sound set at on or off constantly to ge the desired sound or not - know what i mean? If you have the shutter sound ON - Then setting the phone on silent won't set the silence the shutter - and obviously when the shutter is silent, whatever you do, you wont get a shutter sound....Did that help? Sound confusing to me too! sorry - just trying to help.... Ah, Surferguy had it in a nutshell - The sound will go or not go regardless of your menu settings, so as long you had the shutter set to a desired position.
Also - PUF - unfortunately Nokia always does that - this time, the charger is similar in shape, but much much smaller in size - so no, you need the specific charger to charge your Nokia 6233. Anyway guys - Peace! cheerio. roger
