Regarding 2GB MEMORY i have it installed in my 6300 and there is no problems with speed and it does not cause any hanging as it works very well.

I have this fone and it's consider the best fone. Everything is good...I think Nokia has been doing well in the industry but now...I am into Samsung more than Nokia. Samsung has its touch screen but Nokia don't have! And I feel this fone Nokia 6300 is the best fone ever!

Everything is perfect!! SMS, ringtones and volume are loud~ Good phone and I should recommend u to purchase this fone as it's still new...=)

          To MOBZZY:

The 6300, 6500 classic and 6500 slide are all similar. The only main difference with the new 6500 series is the enhanced s40 OS which is now at it's 5th stage. The differences between the OS is minor. One of the good things about S40v5 is that you get a 2,000 contact phone book, opposed to 1,000 contacts with s40v3.

The 6500 classic DOESN'T come with a memory card which is a big turn off for me. Even though it comes with 1GB internal memory I still rather phones with card slots...for various reasons, with the main reason being that you can increase memory capacity when you have a card slot.

If I should get a 2GB SD card for my 6300 then right there I have twice more memory than the 6500 classic.

In my opinion the 6500 slide is a better buy than the classic as you get a tad bit larger screen, adequate internal memory + memory card slot. A higher megapixel camera at 3.2MP with VGA video and autofocus, 3G (even though many operators still doesn't support 3G) and TV out and a battery which is supposed to give you up to 6 hours worth of talk time. That is 2hrs. 30mins. more than 6300.

The only disadvantage with 6500 slide is that it weighs quite a bit more than 6300 and 6500 classic.

If you can tolerate a weight of 125 grams then get the 6500 slide.

6500 Classic - Nice Fashion Phone Only.
6500 Slide - Great Multimedia Phone.

              6300 is Equally Great.

                      To DR. SQUASH:

Since you aren't familiar with sending tones tell me which site you got the Santana tone from...if you got it from a site.

                        To DR. SQUASH:

Don't worry my friend. When you send a tone a copy remains on your phone.

So the only 3rd party tone you are currently using is 'smooth' by Santana right ?

The others you use come with the phone, correct ?

@....Original_Jamaican I am using "Roadster.aac" in my profile called ( Disco )"With Rock.aac" as my message alert tone on this profile with vib on.
The other loud ringtone is called "Pick it up.aac" I am using Rock.aac as my message tone on most profiles because it starts out soft and builds up to a nice loud finale.
I am using "Smooth" by Santana mp3 as a ringtone on my general profile.
To be honest i have not learned to send any tones as yet and i have never been sent any.
If i send them will they be deleated from my phone ? Sorry as i am not p/c or phone literate, as i am new to civilised life as i have been living in the bush.

when i buy my 6300 that memory card that was given to me is 512, much higher to the normal 128 mem available in the package, however i still want a bigger memory...since it says it can support a 2 gig memory, will it be a good idea? since the sales person told me to buy only 1 gig because it may hang if i use a 2 gig memory....is that so? but why it says it can support a 2gig?

No it doesn't support .sis themes. The Nokia 6300 only supports themes in .nth format.

is the volume of this phone that extremely low like a nokia 6070?

and everybody is complaining about the cam. of this phone

                                    is it bad?

Despite Nokia talking about Yahoo! Go supporting Yahoo Messenger, I haven't seen it in my 6300.

When I start Yahoo Go all I see is mail, news, weather etc.

Anybody have Yahoo Messenger in their Yahoo Go ?

                                        To KATHLEEN:

My 6300 is less than a year old. I got it August 31st.

I don't know of any software upgrades which will rectify this problem. Maybe they will listen and create an software upgrade to deal with the problem.

However, it's not so much of an issue for me...at least not to a great extent because it only happens when there is minimal lighting. In bright enough artificial lighting or adequate natural lighting to very sunny areas, you won't see the green glare.

In reduced lighting, regardless of the time of day, you can try night mode. That should help take away the greenness for low lit areas.
