to EVERYONE: people who say that the battery,sound on this phone isnt very good i dont know where u r coming from, my phone was made in hungary n after upgrading v5.00 firmware my battery is very good n so is the sound quality, ive been listening to music with the nokia 3.5mm adapter n using sony dynamic stereo headphones n the sound is loud i have to turn sound down to volume 8 coz its deafening to the ears!!

i want to ask that can i change my battery to bl-5c instead of the bl-4c...because i have heard that bl-5c is much better...but can anybody tell that will it improve the battery life?and is it safe??will my phone be ok if i insert a bl-5c battery???please helppp

6233 is much better (sound, battery, keys). And cheaper too. These new slim phones are elegant and trendy but an everyday working phone should be at least 15 mm thick to be comfortable in your hand. And of course, thinner phone = less battery life

I REALLY want to know which phone would be better to buy the nokia 6300 or the nokia 6233?I hear that the nokia 6233 is the better phone but has very low phone memory.So plz tell me which 1 I should buy?

Then you should go for a phone that has irda connection if it bothers you that, no problem for me coz most people i know have bluetooth devices

Infrared is important for transfer of files to non-bluetooth devices like w200i,k310i,6070etc....

in our country we get the batteries made in china with the fones...do u think china batter will work ok???please some body tell about the battery life...i wanna bu this fone...i love this fone..but i m afriad of the battery prob....please help...

Nokia 6300 is a great phone. Solidly built and user friendly. I had a Samsung before, Samsung Trace, it was a piece of junk. I am extremely happy with the Nokia. Camera is the only thing that needs improvement, but it's a phone, not a digital camera. Overall, I would definetely recommend the phone.

Get the 6300 and ensure it has firmware v5.00. That will put an end to your battery problems

hello...can any onne tell me 4 that which fone i should go 4.....among..noia 6151 and 6300..i m confused...6151 has a very small scree...while on the other hand i have heard that 6300's battery life is really very poor...i need a fone with gud battery life but i like the style n features of 6300..what should i do..?please help....

To the PERSON WHO CALLED ME A LIAR:
I will reply in the same order you stated your problems.
1. BATTERY
I have NO complaints about my phone. It came with firmware revision version 5.00. The first day I got the phone I charged it for 24 hours, that's right I left it charging for 1 full day. I used it non-stop from the moment I turned it on. I did just about everything you could think of from viewing photos, watching 'MP4' videos to playing games. I used the phone continuously until the battery died. I got 7 1/2 hours worth of continuous use out of the Nokia 6300 battery which many people complain about being weak and running out after 5 hours or in your case 1 hour. I repeated the 24 hour charging cycle 2 more times.
Yesterday morning I charged the phone and left home for work with a full charge. I was on repetitive calls throughout the day, some calls were short, 5 mins. and 10 mins. I was even on a particular call for 45 mins. and that was during the day. Last night I was on a call for 1hr. 2mins. and this morning my battery was a little below half. I would say that is damn good! So as you can see, NO BATTERY problems for me!
2. IrDa (INFRARED)
Not having IrDa is NOT a big deal for me. My previous phone (Nokia 6230) had it and I ended up using bluetooth more. Bluetooth is taking over from infrared slowly but surely.
3. MEMORY CARD LOGO DISAPPEARING
I have over 500MB worth of files on my 1GB memory card and NOT ONCE did the logo disappear.
4. OVERHEATING PROBLEM
When I first charged my phone for 24 hours NOT ONCE did it overheat. In fact, after the first 24 hour charge, I felt the back and to my surprise it was cold, as cold as ice. Where calls are concerned it has NEVER OVERHEATED either...not even last night when I was on that 1 hour call did it overheat in anyway. When I'm finished my calls using the 6300, my ears are probably the coldest part of my body. NO OVERHEATING problems for me whatsoever!
5. SOUND VOLUME
I will admit, the Nokia 6300 is not the loudest of phones but it's loud enough. Some people complain that it can't be heard in noisy environments. Well that goes for every phone and that's why there's a feature called VIBRATE. The toot of a truck horn is louder than ANY phone no matter how loud that phone is! Even my previous Nokia 6230 was very loud but was not audible everytime in very noisy areas. Overall I find the ringing volume to be ok.
As for earpiece volume, it is fine as far as I'm concerned. I can hear the other person on the line even in very noisy places. Try using the Palm Treo 650 in a QUIET environment, even in a quiet area the Treo 650 hearing volume is very low AT THE HIGHEST volume. Compare a Palm Treo 650 to the Nokia 6300 and you will see that the Nokia 6300 is VERY loud even in noisy environments.
I would suggest that you upgrade your 6300 to firmware v5.00 to resolve all your problems.
After doing that you will see that I'm NOT a liar. Peace to you son.

Cool phone!! Excellent brightness!!! Perfect color! Superb music quality for a s40 phone!! Nice smart key pad!! Mini Usb so do a lot more by this!! Camera ? Its fantastic!!! But just one and only problem and that is the battery life.its annoying!! Bt if u dnt use dnt the music/video/camera function it will end up for 2+days!!! I love it!!! Just go for it if u need style and superb performence!!

to ORIGINAL JAMAICAN: phone probs (cont) battery now last for 5/6 days just texting n making calling not doing media action i.e playing music videos etc, CAMERA: camera had minute green lines in view finder v5.00 has rectified that prob camera now has no more green lines,DISAPPERED FEATURES. with v4.75 when pressing # u cud change profile, with v5.00 the has key has no actions what so ever, still a mystery why thats happened but no great deal

to ORIGINAL JAMAICAN, ok mate heres the problems with v4.75 bfor i upgraded to v5.00, i must also stress phones made in other countrys may have more probs, coz my hungarian make has never had overheating problems n the sound output has always been very loud n the upgrade never altered that, v4.75 PROBLEMS: calls wud hang, v5.00 rectifie that prob no more hanging calls, BATTERY: batt wud not only last n was crap, v5.00 has rectified that problem

To EVERYONE:
Those of you who complain about the # sign key (aka pound and hash key)...all of you who complain that this key doesn't work anymore shouldn't feel too bad because this key does MORE than silent the phone, it will prevent calls from coming through as it switches the phone to LINE 2 and the average cell phone user only uses one line. How many people of you realised that this silent feature is dangerous ?
However, it works FINE on my phone even though I have v5.00. I guess because it was done at the factory.
Once again, this is a DANGEROUS feature because it switches the phone to LINE 2 so even if you subscribed for both lines, whoever calls you on LINE 1 WON'T get through to you.
This was of silenting the phone should be used with caution or you may miss emergency calls from loved ones or friends.

To WAZOMBA:
Do me a favour and tell me all the problems that 4.20 or 4.71 had. As I told you, I recently purchased mine so it came with v5.00 from the factory sim free and unlocked straight from Nokia Hungary.
After reading what several opinionists wrote, I have learnt that there were overheating and battery running out too fast - problems, with the older firmwares. Can you please list all the problems you had before you upgraded to v5.00 ?
I am yet to see a thorough listing of the problems which existed with the older firmwares. Lastly, did you find the sound output from the ring volume (when set to LEVEL 5) and music player volume (when set to LEVEL 10) to be low when you had v4.71 ? I ask because I want to know if v5.00 also increased the volume. I have no idea what problems existed before because my phone came with v5.00.
Please just list all the problems you experienced before you upgraded to v5.00. Thanks WAZOMBA.

heating problems, what heating probs? even when my phone had the old firmware it never overheated, must b the make of the phone, coz i STRESS the HUNGARIAN make doesnt have heating probs what so ever, now onto lack of infared port, this phone does not need infared , it has bluetooth which we all know outclasses infared in every area, also with miniusb u dont need the DREADED INFARED!!!!

to the GUY who sent the last POST, u need to get ur facts right mate, i agree that it is a bad phone with v4.71 firware. what firmware is ur phone? coz once u have v.5.00 its solves alot of problems, i know coz when bought mine it had v4.75, battery wud not last for a day hanged up calls, memory card probs, but after downloading v.500 firmware im amazed how the lastest firmware has rectified those problems, my battery now lasts twice as long
