About the short-life battery.

Please make sure you charge your battery for at least 10 hours for the 1st time before use! If you haven't done so on the first day, you still can charge it know for 10 hours. You will see the difference with a positive reusult. The battery's life is good, and it's not as bad or as short as you think! You just have to charge it once for at least 10 hours to optimised the battery's capability!

To the guy who have been playing with batteries.

Well, I do not really care, and of course it is none of my business. But remember. NOT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!!!. + It documented on all batteries that DO NOT DISSEMBLE OR MODIFY.

You're right, the batteries are small AMP. I DID NOT SAY IT WILL KILL. I just say it does DAMAGE to your EARS, FACE & HANDS.

Anyway, do whatever you want. I do not care, it isn't me who is getting hurt.......But when they do......don't come and cry.

        Cheers man !!

P.S: you shouldn't need to apply too much force from the bottom, so don't overdo it!

will check back in the morning (9pm now).

its a nightmare I know, I had exactly the same problem. it took me lots of trying first time. I nearly took it back...

                  Just try this again step-by-step:

                  1. Push the back cover up as far as you can get it, so you have the gap at the top and the overhang at the bottom.
                  2. Look at the gap at the top of the back cover. There are two white bits on each side of the phone at the same level as the gap. These are lights that change to blue when you turn the power on. You are going to apply pressure just above these white lights->

                  3. Squeeze the metal back cover from the sides with one hand. Push the cover up with the other hand. **You are squeezing the back cover from both sides ON the curve - just above the white lights **

If you take the back cover off completely you can see that just above the white lights there are two tiny metal clips, the idea is that you are pushing these in when squeezing the cover. This should allow it to slide up.

Let me know how you get on....

thinkjim, i've been trying that and putting as much force as pos but it just won't slide up! was it quite easy for you or did it take some effort?

don't want to take it back and look a fool!

                    many thanks

ref the over-hang and the rear cover not sliding to the top; I had this problem:

Just squeeze the sides (where the white bits are) and push the cover up. It will slide into place properly then.

hi, i recieved my 6300 today and love it! the only comestic problem i have is the back cover. it doesn't seem to slide all the way to the top which means there's a slight over hang at the bottom. can anyone tell me if they suffer from this or is it just my phone? if so then i'm gonna take it back and get it replaced.

                        many thanks

You should be very careful if you do modify the battery as I have tried. Although I haven't had any problems you could void the warranty an injure yourself.

When I said I had cut away part of the battery, what I meant to say was that I trimmed a porition of the plastic section at the top of the battery, as tried by others. This was only in the region of 2-3mm, in total and has not exposed any metal or any other part of the battery.

AS others have said you, need to be very careful if you try this.

To the Guy who says battery explodes:
I don't think this small milli-Amp capacity battery does explode and would KILL you. Please don't tell lies to these people, unless you've proven it. I played a lot of these batteries and I haven't seen one that EXPLODE. I did my own modification myself and copper contacts or battery cells are very far from the affected modified parts. Now, I get double battery life than the original BL-4C.

Key pad: comfortable although small. definitely better than N73's key pad.
Screen change: good speed. changes screen very quickly.
                                  no hangups.
                                  no miss calls.
                                  no offlines.
                                  Sound is good.
Speaker is lound n good enuf for a phone this small and cheap. Nothing like N73's speakers but it's good.
Usually, good things no cheap, cheap things no good. However, 6300 is different.
Overall: Cheap and Good. (This is rare).

One of the best phones i'd ever used since 6230 n 6230i. So far, haven't used an N series phone that didn't give any prob. Expensive but full of problems! And yet ppl buying them like hot cakes.

I'm a 6230, 6230i user. Loved it very much. No prob wif it except that 6230 screen change is faster than 6230i and that speaker of the earlier was louder too. Subsequently upgraded to 6280, 6111, Samsung D900, Samsung Ultrathin 8.3mm, N80, N73, 7390. All of it gave problems in one way or another except Samsungs, but i just couldn't get used to it as Nokia's functions are still better and more user friendly.

Nseries hang, hang and more hangups plus restart, shifts screen, unable to save words created in the memory bank, etc, etc. (but stereo speakers are good, so were the pictures taken, they're even better).

6280 is the worst. Not performing at all to what is advertised by manufacturer.

7390 gets messages from network provider that so n so tried to reach u but u were unavailable when the phone was ON next to u all the while!

Then 6300 came along. Been using it for a week now. No complaints at all with regards to all of the above. Only thing is the phone starts to heat up when using it for 5mins n more. This is similiar to 6230i, it heats up when communicating for more than 5mins too. I'm quite surprised with this as the SAR level is only at 0.5. N73's SAR is at 1.2 (max allowed is 2.0) but it doesn't heat up at all! Neither does N80. Used to think that the phone heats up when SAR is too high. Looks like I'm wrong. Anyone to feed me more info on this issue? Thanks.

It is kinda risky "cutting" away the plastic protective portions on the batteries.

It can explode..... Batteries does explode on the handphone.

Really nonsense that folks can resort to so drastic measures to improve talk time and usage.

READERS BEWARE :- MODIFICATION ON BATTERIES (ANY BATTERIES) AS THEY CAN EXPLODE. AND CAUSE SERIOUS HARM.

                                        IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE.
