To the Guy who says battery explodes:
I don't think this small milli-Amp capacity battery does explode and would KILL you. Please don't tell lies to these people, unless you've proven it. I played a lot of these batteries and I haven't seen one that EXPLODE. I did my own modification myself and copper contacts or battery cells are very far from the affected modified parts. Now, I get double battery life than the original BL-4C.

Key pad: comfortable although small. definitely better than N73's key pad.
Screen change: good speed. changes screen very quickly.
no hangups.
no miss calls.
no offlines.
Sound is good.
Speaker is lound n good enuf for a phone this small and cheap. Nothing like N73's speakers but it's good.
Usually, good things no cheap, cheap things no good. However, 6300 is different.
Overall: Cheap and Good. (This is rare).

One of the best phones i'd ever used since 6230 n 6230i. So far, haven't used an N series phone that didn't give any prob. Expensive but full of problems! And yet ppl buying them like hot cakes.

I'm a 6230, 6230i user. Loved it very much. No prob wif it except that 6230 screen change is faster than 6230i and that speaker of the earlier was louder too. Subsequently upgraded to 6280, 6111, Samsung D900, Samsung Ultrathin 8.3mm, N80, N73, 7390. All of it gave problems in one way or another except Samsungs, but i just couldn't get used to it as Nokia's functions are still better and more user friendly.
Nseries hang, hang and more hangups plus restart, shifts screen, unable to save words created in the memory bank, etc, etc. (but stereo speakers are good, so were the pictures taken, they're even better).
6280 is the worst. Not performing at all to what is advertised by manufacturer.
7390 gets messages from network provider that so n so tried to reach u but u were unavailable when the phone was ON next to u all the while!
Then 6300 came along. Been using it for a week now. No complaints at all with regards to all of the above. Only thing is the phone starts to heat up when using it for 5mins n more. This is similiar to 6230i, it heats up when communicating for more than 5mins too. I'm quite surprised with this as the SAR level is only at 0.5. N73's SAR is at 1.2 (max allowed is 2.0) but it doesn't heat up at all! Neither does N80. Used to think that the phone heats up when SAR is too high. Looks like I'm wrong. Anyone to feed me more info on this issue? Thanks.

It is kinda risky "cutting" away the plastic protective portions on the batteries.
It can explode..... Batteries does explode on the handphone.
Really nonsense that folks can resort to so drastic measures to improve talk time and usage.
READERS BEWARE :- MODIFICATION ON BATTERIES (ANY BATTERIES) AS THEY CAN EXPLODE. AND CAUSE SERIOUS HARM.
IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE.

I currently have a 6230 which I have been hanging out to upgrade as I like Nokias but have not liked any of their prev phones. Can anyone advise whether this is a good upgrade from the 6230. I rarely use the camera but do like the radio/music facility -would upgrade to sony walkman phone but don't like them and wanted to stick with Nokia.
Opinions welcome

the BL5-C battery is wider (fatter) I used a scalpel to cut back the black plastic/rubber at the sides of the battery at the top.

Hi Guys,
I'm a bit confused by the capacity of the BL-4C and BL5-C. The BL-4C that came with my phone says 860mAh on the back, but on the nokia site it says the BL-4C has a capacity of 820mAh. The BL-5C is listed as 970mAh on nokia's website, but much lower on some resellers web sites. Can you explain why this is? I have bought a BL-5C but it doesn't say a capacity on it.

Dear MXAE,
I think there should be some people to "audit" the phone companies for their lies, especially on the Batteries. Since the comsumer are the ones who get ripped off by the phone manufacturer.
I really wonder why they cannot make decent battries. They should know that their reputations are important.
Anyway, that is life. You Hate to love them and love to hate them.
btw, I saw that the BL-5C is actually 1-2mm thicker and about 2-3mm longer than the BL-4C. Are you sure it can be "cut off" to fit the 6800. Let me know....Please
Thanks

no problem with my bl5c batt, leaking i have 2 6300 phones both have bl5c batt in them impossible for mine to leak only took half of millimeter of it nothing exposed but i see your point if you took to much off it it would leak ,me personaly am really happy with this phone all my friends have this phone now nearly left nokia as for last 2 years nokia phones have been to big and ugly and not well built but this time well built no softwear problems and brilliant screen i realy cannot fault this phone alot of phone for little money .but can i say one thing about nokia they are known to be tuff and phone holds on to a signal more than most phones i will tell you why i wasnin greece 2 years ago hired a little motor boat engine cut out on us we drifted quite a way out to sea then realised know one knew we where in trouble my girlfriend started to pannick her sony ericcsson phone did not have a signal mt nokia 6230 phone still had 2 signal barrs left and we where on same network so nokia phone saved us i think it probabley saved our lifes so 4 me nokia is still the phone for me tough reliable and holds onto that signal, but as for people who like other makes of phones i dont dislike them im happy for them but feel sometimes in this forum some people diss a phone when someone writes a opinion thats like going back to school days and saying my football boots are better than yours obviously we all like phones so why dont we try to get on with each other instead of been bitter with one another and try to help each other out if ever i changed brands i would ask people in here about the phone as this is a good forum thanks .

Dear All users
I heard from the reviews that the 6300 can be use with the BL-5C battery by trimming the battery a little (even if you know what you are doing). Actually, this is a VERY RISKY thing to do. Although, the BL-5C is a original battery from NOKIA, trimming the battery can actually expose the metallic parts (or chemical leaks) and therefore can cause the battery to burst.
There was several cases (in Hong Kong) users "modified" the batteries. When the user was using the phone, it exploded. The guy lost his ears and part of his face got burned. It can also happen if you use "non-original" batteries.
I think I would rather have a phone that has lousy battery than having injuries to myself.

hi to the guy in the u s a , the phone is really worth waiting for i have no problem with it ,eg i made 3 hours 40 mins of calls today and it does not heat up .and as for batt , problems i never put bl4c batt in i bought bl5c all you have to do is trim a little off 1 end of batt , it took me 3 mins to do it, the phone still has 30 percent of power left after 3hours 40 mins of calls, heard that end of year they may be a 3g version of 6300 , imagine that. im happy with mine menues so fast does not lock up and i am useing a 2 gig memory card .

Fantastic design, weight and feel features are up to speed BUT the speaker is very poor in the headset and the loudspeaker too, ive just got rid of a 6233 and the only problem with that phone was the low number capacity of 500 names.I am taking mnie back to the shop tomorrow to get it replaced...
