the networks give you fantastic deals for 18 months,
but we have all been in a phone shop where the consultant makes it seem like there in no choice but to go for the 18 month.
its only later done the line when we realise our phones are broken or there is a better deal we seem to be stiched up!
bring back good deals on 12 mnth contracts!!

Becky, you were ripped off.
You could have got a much better deal even if you had bought the 6500c direct from one of the other operators, which almost always works out more expensive.
You should have been more ruthless on the phone to them - if you have been with them for 6 years, they are going to want to keep you and they would have pushed the boat out for you.
They have tucked you up and f*cked you up - you should have put your foot down!

Crappy phone, had it for one week, then it shut down by itself and never worked again.
Plus, it's so slippery you cannot use it properly.

hi, i have just had this argument (about 12 or 18 month contracts) and they were trying to get me to move from a 12 to an 18- with 02 online- i have got:
200 mins, 400 texts for £30 pm.(12m)
they offered me the same on an 18month contract for £25pm. after working i out i realised the 12m would work out better so went with that! i have been with them for about 6 years so i was gutted that they couldnt do better, but i suppose its ok!
thay did try to get me to have an older phone- and give me credit?! but i wanted this phone so.....

A VERY STRANGE THING I've found when using this phone for a week now. I've transfered about 850mb of music to the phone and plugged the Nokia's headset that came with the phone. As soon as I pressed on media player, a "Searching" and "Updating library" signs came. What does that mean, why do they have to "refresh" the library with the stereo plugged in? It doesn't happen when I want to play the music via the speaker.. Any ideas?

Has any one among you been able to extract all the default contents(themes,ringtones,games etc) from 6500 classic. Any good soul who done it, pls post it.

* by "slightly cheaper" with the 18 month contracts, I mean per month, not over the entire 18 month term, which then does work out more expensive than a 12 month contract.

That's fair enough mate, but I suppose it's just whatever is easier.
I definately agree about the 18 month contracts and how all the operators are basically forcing consumers into going for these over the 12 month contracts (slightly cheaper, loads more allowance, etc).
I think this is wrong and unfortunate, which is why I was so happy to find the deal I got.
I think this started to happen around a year ago (the "forcing" of 18 month contracts) when the operators realised years of subsidizing on the 12 month contracts wasn't getting them any money - and those extra six months means they finally profit - the first 12 are used to "pay off" the phone...
And I think over the years it will get worse - especially if people don't buy content (tones, MP3s, games, apps, etc) or add ons like Web Access.
Already you can see operators desperately trying to claw back profits - all 08 numbers are now charged - some of them excessively.
They are not included in your allowance and ALL of the operators charge for them - with O2, they charge up to 35p p/m with some 08 numbers, which I find disgusting considering most service numbers (to businesses, banks, ets) are 08's...

Hi m8, thanks for that reply. I know what you are saying about an 18 month contract and I wasn't over the moon about getting one, but it seems that they are all going that way no matter the network! :(
I did think about buying the phone and getting a £15 a month sim, but it would work out at £240 for the phone plus £15 month for the sim = £420 for 12 months.
As it stands I get the phone, 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited O2-O2 calls and 512k web browsing for £360 (yes it's over 18 months) but broken down over 12 months it's £240.
Like I said before I tried to change it back to a 12 month deal, but they offered me 200 mins less and the price went from £20 a month to £25! When I said why less minutes and yet more cost, they said it's to do with the discount we can offer that is taken over from your last contract!!! Apparently my average monthly bill was £16.90 yet I was only paying £15 a month!
At the end of the day a new O2 customer would be paying £35 a month for the contract I'm paying £20 a month for, yes I'm not 100% happy it's an 18 month deal, but I'm sure there are people out there that would bite my arm off to get it for £20 a month!
I could have stayed on my 200 mins and 100 texts contract for £15 a month, but the free upgrades were cr*p, so for £5 a month more it works out I get the phone for £90 (over the 18 months) plus a load more mins and texts.

This 6500 is 10X better than the 8600 Luna ....at only half the price, no wonder Nokia call it classic!

great phone - just got it and no probs - except - how do you get rid of the stupid gallery at the bottom of thr screen when you are doing a text message. it really is annoying as i just want as much room as poss to see the text i am doing without any stupid gallery at the bottom. help

You'd have been better off rejecting O2s "generous" daylight-robbery offer, buying the 6500c sim-free and finding yourself a very good £15 p/m sim-only 12-month contract.
Basically, before parting your money with a contract, you should always do the "Am I paying more than the value of this phone?" test. It's the easiest way of working out if you are getting the best value for money - or for working out if you are being ripped off...

Yes, £18 is via cashback + additional instant cashback. Also, my phone is UNLOCKED. So it really is an excellent contract.
Cashback has worked for me over the past two years with no problems at all, and 30 minutes of my time three times a year (sending the claims off/cashing the cheques) is well worth saving £250 - that's over £165 an hour... Find me someone who earns that, because there isn't many.
Plus, I simply REFUSE 18 month contracts at all - it is too long to be lumbered with a phone which could at first seem great, but eventually shows its horrendous flaws after a while (like the utterly b0llocks Samsung D900). Plus 18 month contracts are all a rip off if you do your sums...
I only take 12 month contracts - and even though you are paying £25 per month on an 18 month contract without having the "trouble" of redemption, I'd much rather save myself £84 (over my 12 month contract) PLUS an additional 6 months @ £25 for the sake of sending a few bills recorded delivery three times a year...
18 month contracts are in fact very, very bad value for money too, even if they do try to (successfully) "trick" people into thinking that 50% more minutes compared to the 12 month contracts are "better" value.
18 months @ 25 = £450. The 6500c costs around £240 unlocked. You are being ripped off a MASSIVE £210 - even if they do offer you a "free" upgrade to mediocre phone, which will probably not be worth £210 either - hell, this could buy you another brand new phone. You have been robbed, seriously.

not sure what u mean by 'call volume' but if you mean ringtone volume u can : settings -> profile -> choose profile -> personalize.
On the other hand, if you mean the volume coming out of the earpiece when in a call it is: *When you are in a call* push the 'up' key on the d pad. If you have not modified this function, it's default volume is half way.. which is quite soft...it took me a while to find that =) Hope that helps!
