Hold the phone face up and pull the bottom section down (I find it's best to grip either side of the keypad). As I said, the first time it's tricky, but once you have done it, you will realise how easy it is. I was the same, I didn't want to break my new phone, so I was handling it like a baby. It just needs a bit of force :-)

The 6500 battery cover is fine, it's just that when you literally open it for the first time it's tricky as you don't know how much force you should use. But as I said, once you have opened it the first time, everything becomes obvious and there is no problem the 2nd time....

Hi, could you give me any tips on how to do this... Having tried all kinds of tricks on it I'm tearing my hair out with it now... oh and a bit concerned that I'm going to snap my lovely new phone!

      Cheers

"The practise required to open the back cover is a "finger power training practise" ....what kind of a lousy design is this? there is no excuse for this!"

Would you prefer the crappy K850 battery cover that cracks rather than a sturdy one on the 6500? The 6500 battery cover is fine, it's just that when you literally open it for the first time it's tricky as you don't know how much force you should use. But as I said, once you have opened it the first time, everything becomes obvious and there is no problem the 2nd time....

Noticed there is a Nokia salesman in this forum always trying to defend; and give stupid excuses just to defend this phone!

I'm getting rid of my black 6500 classic & also my 6120. The trade in price is only a little bit more than 50% of what I paid for them!!!
I'm going to trade them in for the Sonyericsson W910i. I'm very happy with the SE T650i which I brought last week.

I have managed to get this phone free, delivered free, on 12 month contract, redemption via a renowned distributor (who doeas actually pay out) - for £18 per month.

On O2 with 400 xnet anytime mins and 500 txts.

Bargain and certainly makes the phone a bit more realistic when it comes to price!

This does include a £60 affiliate cashback deal through Quidco.com (who also pay out) - so all in all, a frickin bargain and well under my max cost per month for this phone of £23.

Anything more than that, and the operator is simply ripping you off.

Remember this phone is £240 sim free - so if you are forkin out £35 per month for a ballsy contract with this phone (which is the minimum contract offered by most operators (direct) to get this phone free), they are ripping you off £180 over a 12 month contract.

£18-20 per month = a max of £240 over 12 months, which means that is what you should be aiming for without being ripped off.

Hope this helps. Got my phone from dialaphone for your information.

Do not use any other sites apart from carphone, e2save, onestopphoneshop, mobiles.co.uk, mobileshop, mobiles2yourdoor and phones4u - any others are probably a bunch of cowboys wanting to (and probably will) rip you off/rob you.

PS. I haven't been this happy with a phone since the 8850. Functionality, usability, size and conservative style have finally been put into one phone again.

                    Hi all,
Ok, I've had my 6500 for about 24 hours now and generally speaking I'm fairly happy with it.
I've read some comments that it's a 'fashion' phone. Personally, I consider it to be a utility phone, conservative but with some stlye, minimalist if you like. For me, the smaller the better so it doesn't get in the way and I can forget about it until it rings or I need it. The speaker is impressive for a phone this thin, better quality and range than the K800i, but not as loud as the K800i. Standard ring tones are good with a few nice basic ring-ring styles to choose from.
Charging socket (micro-usb) is (strangely?) located at the top. Great for your cable coming from the back of your desk but not so good for the car, and desk stand chargers probably aren't gonna happen with this configuration. Some after market micro-usb chargers are now available which is handy for office and travel. Maximum stand-by time is only achievable with 'sleep' option enabled which blanks the display totally after a timeout (ie., no clock/date etc). This feature can of course be disabled. Display is *not* protected so if you press it then yes, you will see distortion (I decided a case would be a good move for mine). Despite being a considered by some to be a 'fashion' item, the phone is also highly practical; small, lightweight, all the good Nokia features/software (calendar/converter/easy-to-use-calculator, Opera Mini, world clock etc) and fully functioning profiles which is a relief after a year of the K800i, and everything is easy to access - practical shortcuts and the Goto menu.
Call quality it very good/excellent, but not top notch. Phone is a little strange to hold during calls, but I expect I'll get used to it. Buttons have a raised silver lip which is good for when you need to see where you're going while you're texting. It is however still possible to get the wrong button occasionally.
I've not been able to find any car micro-usb chargers, but there are car USB chargers and Nokia supply a USB to micro-usb cable.

On a more personal note, having had various phones in recent years (6510,6220,6230,6230i,Samsung E900,K800i), I'm now genuinely happy with my phone. Feels to me like Nokia have finally done something right again.
With regard to uploading phone numbers to car stereo head-unit, I did encounter some difficulty, but that was mostly cause by the head-unit, NOT the phone. Upload was otherwise fine.

Lastly, I've tried to be objective with most of this, but last time I was 'objective' I got flamed; so here's a reminder - this is an *opinon* forum! Thanks.

"How long should I initially charge this phone for?"

Until the battery is full, once full it won't charge any further!

"No front camera?....what a cost saving & techical inferior phone from Nokia!"

Who makes video calls? Most networks don't even support them!

"ican tell u that this telephon is very baaaaaaaaad"

                              Elaborate?

"keypad sucs! its difficult to press only one button! Nokia needs a new ergonomics designer !"

Maybe your brain can't cope with something so trivial? The keypad is fine.

How long should I initially charge this phone for?

The instructions say 2 hours - but I am confused as to these modern day batteries.

Several years ago, your first charge took 14 hours, for some bizarre reason.

I would have thought modern day batteries do not require such excessive first-charges.

                                    Can someone enlighten please?

                                    Thanks
