To be honest, I am quite positive that the "Made In Hungary" versions do not suffer from the SW bugs. My very 1st Slide was "Made In Singapore" & it lasted 12 days before the SIM card reader failed.
I got another replacement, & by chance it was "Made In Hungary" & it had no problems at all, but I lost it a couple weeks ago.
I just got my 2nd, (3rd technically) slide from Ebay UK, & it was also "Made In Hungary", & again, it was perfect. No build problems, no SW bugs.
If you really want this phone, you must buy a "Made In Hungary" version. It might cost a little more, but well worth it.

i am thinking about getting this phone.
but after reading all of these comments i am not too sure.
i do want it badddd though :)

My Nokia 6500 slide is the best phone I have used so far, believe me i've used many, from China to Europe.Remember we Nigerians enjoy using good 'toys'. It's trully sleek, trendy and concealable. The other day i erroneously attempted to download info direct without using the pc suite and the phone refused to cooperate. This is an evidence of a well programmed software. However does it mean the front camera cannot function except during video call? I need to know.

Major software issues.
No it is not touch, and is not capable of word or anything like that.
I have had this phone for a few months now and I dont like it. I think Nokia is starting to go down hill, and I never thought I would say that. There is a software upgrade available for this phone, but it doesnt work.
I really regret getting this phone, I wish i had stcuk to Samsung. They have never once failed me.

Make sure your phone is an original one from hungary not from china or Nokia,othrwise its super

for those who have 6500slide that is always hanging:
>Upgrade your firmware!
For those who have disconnected memory card problem:
>There is a "primitive" solution to that:
1. you can try to bend a little the hook which locks the memory card (bit risky if you bend too much)
2. put a rubber/papertape between the memory card craddle and the casing to fit it firmly into place (much safer than bending)
for those who have virus problem:

This phone is truly lousy. It hangs very often and the memory card disconnects automatically on its own which results in all your wallpaper and ringing tone settings erased. Not to mention the speed, it's really slow. Keylock function takes ages, message sending stalls and even opening pic files, it stands still for a long time too. I have checked and the software is definitely updated but still it sucks!

hey guys....i jus brought this wonderful phone jus two weeks back..n i must say i am totally satisfied with this phone..well i feel the battery life is a bit bad ..but the over all performance is good. i was using a sony ericsson w850i before, and i feel my new phone is far better than the w850i.

it's a bad phone.
always hanging.
cannot customize its look, simply because it turns as default without any permission!!
the most useful thing in it "Camera"
there's no realplayer for it.
no power off/on key
Bluetooth bad searcher
cannot save your contacts of messages on PC using this phone

i have had this phone now for just over 2 months, i think its a fantastic phone with a great 3.2mp carl zeiss optics camera, music quality is also great. excellent phone, classy and one of the few nokias with good features

The phone is beutyfull but it loses it,s memory it cannot pick up my memory card and all my pictures and musick is lost and i dont know how to retrief it.I sometimes pick up my memory card and in few minutes i loose it again."BEAUTY BUT NO BRAINS"

I just bought this phone yesterday and true as said the software works slow as when I was trying to view the photos in memory card it is much slower than my earlier phone.
Also when I feel I should have read the reviews as it scare me now about sliding and marks on the phone. anybody out there with better experiences?????
