Hey guys there is not much of a difference between the latest nokia 6630 and the nokia 6600 with all the possible application downloads that you install in the phone.
if you have a limited budget buy the 6600. if you have more then go for the 6630.
nothing special in the 6630 because like the 6600 they both have 65k colors and they both have the same looks in the phone. its the few additional features of 6630 plus its fresh so its more expensive and just slightly better than the 6600.
to all you people wanting to buy a nokia cellphone with symbian os just go for the 6600. if nokia uses a 262k color display then that will be the time that u go for an upgrade nokia cellphone.
for now 6630 is just like any symbian os nokia cellphone with a few additional features.

      No problem, chcker.
Another advantage that folks with the 6600 upgrading to the 6630 is that all your contacts and contents of the gallery can be directly copied to the 6630 from the 6600 through bluetooth. Really cool feature. My 6630 was up and running 15 minutes after I got it, with al contacts copied! Nokia sez messages can be copied too. I checked this option at the time of copying the contents, but the messages didn't get transferred.
And about the reboot thing, you could be right chcker. The only things I installed after I got the phone are two games, a profile and a few skins for the movie editing app from the Nokia site. I haven't installed any third party apps yet.
      Thnx.

Hi, Anup, thanks again once more. We need ppl like u to comment on the phone. I be getting my nokia 6630 at the end of the month. [I think the reboot issue may be due to junk software being installed.]

chckr, thanks for reminding me of another good thing about the 6630. MP3s play louder than most phones on the speaker. The bundled stereo earphones also give reasonable volume. I'm not a volume freak, but I find full volume minus two clicks comfortable when using the earphones.
MP3s can be saved as ringtones. And they play much louder than on the 6600. The 6600 actually converts ringtones to WAV while transferring, BTW. The 6630 keeps the MP3 format. (If you have an audio utility like sound forge or nero wave editor or creative wave editor, you can boos the volume level of the sound snippet you copy to the phone to make it sound louder. I did this to get really good results). The polyphonic quality is also much better than the 6600. For example, I use the rooster ring for my messages on the 6600. The 6630 also has a rooster ring. It sounds *so much* more realistic on the 6630.
If you're moving from a 6600 to the 6630, you'll be getting most of the features you REALLY wanted in a 6600, but couldn't.

I forgot to mention: The voice clarity is the BEST I've heard in a mobile fone yet (i've owned a 3310, 3330, 8250, 6100, 6220 and 6600). Both the earpiece, and the loudspeaker. I actually need to *decrease* the volume by a couple of bars from full while making calls. MUCh better than my old 6600.

Hi, Anup, thanks a lot for your subjective comment of the phone. I am using 6600 now, so m thinking of buying 6630.... By the way, is the mp3 loud or mp3 ring tone loud when played? Thanks a lot ...

I'm from India. I bought the 6630 a week back. VERY satisfied.
I've been using a 6600 for the past year, and let me tell you, the 6630 kicks the 6600's ass to the artic circle & back!
VERY fast menu and camera. Camera does not give good results indoor, but shooting in natural daylight outdoors gives great results.
My fone has the firmware dated November 2004, not Dec 2004. But, it hasn't hung or restarted on me even once (been using it for a week).
The preinstalled web browser is almost as good as Opera. Only gripe is no keyboard shortcuts for the browser.
MP3 clarity is great. Even from the speaker on the fone.
I agree with the reviewer about video recording. I would have preferred higher resolution to recording time.
The RS MMC (64 MB) filled up too fast (pics, Vids and MP3s), and no upgrade seems to be in sight (it is a DV RS MMC and not the regular kind).
The keypad is a real delight to use. Just the right balance betwen softness and firmness. Keys are big enough to be useful. The edit (pencil icon) ket has been shifted to the right side of the pad, rather than the left side like in the 6600. I think the 6600's placement (Left side) was better 'cos it's easier to hold the edit key down with my left thumb and use the joystick to select text with the right thumb (while using the phone with two hands). Same for selecting items on the phone to move, copy etc.
The bundled PC Suite is MUCH better than the 6600's. Better graphical interface. And the Image manager is back. (I got too used to the image manager to make wallpapers while using my old 6100 and 6220). Would have been nice if PC Suite could display all the contacts and messages in the phone like it used to do in the 6100's and 6220's.
I have mixed feelings about the brightness sensor. The display brightness keeps changing at times. But if it gives linger backup from the battery, I guess it's ok.
REasonable battery backup, by the way. I get 1 & 1/2 day's backup, even with a bit of MP3 listening, loads of browsing, bluetooth syncing, 20-25 calls of an average of 2 minutes each...
I was debating between the 7710 and the 6630 for a week before the buy. The 6630 won out because of it's compact size (in comparison to the 7710 of course :-)), Better cam, 6X zoom (for cam and camcorder) a keyboard, EDGE, and 3G. Maybe we'll get 3G in a year, before I change phones .
                Thanks.

Hi, nokia 6630 owner, like to check with u...
                  a) How long does it takes to "boot up" the phone?
                  b) Does Symbian 8.0 has all features from Symbian 7.0?
                  c) Can this phone read and write chinese?
                  d) Its processor is double than of 7610, 6670, 6600. So when used in this phone on Symbian 8.0, is it fast?
                  e) Does picture taken has blurish effect as that of 7610 and 6670?
                  f) When viewing picture in the best resolution taken, is it instant or have a wait for few seconds?

                  Thanks...

                        Dear Insider,

Good to hear that you are having no prob's. My fimware version is 2.39.15 dated 11/11/04
Find below the problems i am facing.

                        1) Synchronize (bluetooth and cable) - I get an error check your SyncML settings, something to do with remote settings. What have you entered in remote settings on the phone.

                        2) Bluetooth modem: I am able to use Nokia modem using cable, but on bloetooth it does not work. I have installed One Touch access, it says opening port, then connecting to modem and then it says cannot connect to phone. But the phone is connected.

Does your bluetooth switch off automatically. I do not have switch off problems.
If these 2 problems can be fixed, I would give this phone 9.5/10.

Is the ring tone, (Mp3), mp song played in this phone comparable or better than 6670 and 7610 in terms of its loudness not mono/stereo? Thanks...

I got the Zitron Malaysia release of the 6630 2 days already. The firmware was version V3.45.110, dated: 02-12-04.

it's very stable & i have not have ANY restart/reboot at all. I have talk on it for more 10 hours, using EDGE/GPRS for 2 hours or more, tons of MMS/SMS. I have sync my 1000+ contacts over. I have play NGAGE sonic & SmartMovie 2.47 & UltraMP3. All of them have NEVER crash on me at all. No wonder in Malaysia the zitron fellows refuse to release the firmware version b4 this one.
This phone have the best camera picture quality in the market (slightly better than S700 in auto mode). Per picture with lots of colors/black is about 700K, imagine all the details!!!

Guys - I've had my 6630 almost 24hrs now. Overall I'm very impressed! The camera's great as is the sound quality although not very loud but it plays my mp3s on Orange very nicely thankyou. Only downside so far is that it's decided to restart about 4 or 5 times.

It's really makes me confused... some people commented very good, some people commented having a lot of problem. I guess, it's better to drop the idea of having a NOKIA 6630 for me now, as such an expensive phone seems like a expensive bug to me. Might as well save up the money when 3G phone are more mature.... or go for other brand which are have less problems. Afterall, I would not want to buy a BUG for such a high price.
