In fact I still feel that something more has happened to Nokia than we may think. Maybe the real tech savvy's of Nokia have left them

Everthing else is good got latest feature update today too , but there is a problem with my nokia 7.2 proximity sensor since i purchased it, may b hardware problem, do not know if any one of you got the problem or not, the problem is:
When i continue a call more then 2 or 3 minutes and remove the phone from hear the screen does not show up, this is caused due to sweating or hair oil on sensor , but when clean it by tissue paper or double push power button then screen shows up, i have used many nokia before such issue never happened, any one got same issue confirm me, if not then I will claim the hardware warranty. This sensor should not need cleaning for little moisture, it should show screen auto even it got sweat or hair oil moisture, sensor should not be too waek

old cpu with plastic frame why nokia is behind other competitors??? every year they produce a flagship cellphone with an old cpu it is ridiculous

Would anyone buy a HMD phone without the "Nokia" brand? The quality of HMD phones are what you would expect from "HMD", nowhere near the quality that "Nokia" phones are imagined to have had!

Pixel device's software is different from Android One software. There are plenty of differences between the two. There are lot of algorithms specifically made to Pixel devices (Camera specific, Facial recognition, etc.). Even their launcher is different. When coming to security updates, Pixel devices gets its due consideration/care first. Needless to say, Google would give utmost importance to their own Pixel devices than any other Android One device, the reason as to why they (Pixel devices) stand tall.

Sometimes online reviews are biased and subjective at best. Almost all the reviews I have read about the Nokia 7.2 paints a sub-par experience of the phone.

If you believe that Android One is bug free, it should too be the case with Nokia 7.2. All Android One devices contain the same software.

To your second question, pushing performance updates is not only the RESPONSIBILITY of Android One devices but for every device that comes with SOME software that can be updated.. To be more precise it can be termed as the WISH of the manufacturer. Take for example our satellite TV set top box which gets updated frequently. Even a NON-Android One device might very well get performance updates if its manufacturer wishes. As per the books, Google promises to provide security updates to all their Android One devices for a span of three years. This definitely includes performance updates. To check where it is the same as it is done for Pixel, you have to experience it yourself by comparing it side by side with a Pixel device.

I plan to buy this mid on next year. Is camera and video quality that bad? And is the performace go well, esoecailly after update? Also camera quality after update.

How is the software experience on this device? Is it bug free?
Will Nokia push performance updates like the one on the latest google pixel to this phone?

Subramanian CN, 18 Dec 2019Thank God. Knowingly or unknowingly you've admitted everyth... moreI do not have to admit something that is clear and in plain sight. You do realize those were high end devices that cost more the 600 Euros, right? Just asking as it seems you keep comparing a 290 euros device with a 700 euros (Lumia 950xl) device and it makes no sense. I had lumia 950xl and the build quality was a shame to say the most. Microsoft never respected NOKIA's hardware quality... not that i did not like the device because i did, i actually loved it, but was never near Nokia i have owned in the past. Was quite cheep build, the screen was great tha camera and cpu and internals also, but the case was most probably a 5 euros to build. Going back to HMD, If you want a better display and a better camera, buy nokia 9. Or pay 1000 euros for whatever other device. But this one here, is made for budget, not to be compared with Lumia 950 or 2000 euros iphones..or whatever.
As for the camera, i have already detailed the matter, it seems you still do not get it, further i cant help.
And to end again: For the price the camera is good, the device is good. For others maybe there are other devices that they consider better. I take a look further then a CPU.
Anyway, because you keep bringing camera into matter and screen, have you ever actually hold this device? ever test the camera? I bet you would never know it has an IPS LCD if you wouldn't read about it (as it is the best in class at this price) and also you would have not complain so much about the camera if you would have not listen to all 2 cent reviews and the army of trolls in GSMarena.

Carol, 17 Dec 2019I do not hate companies, i just do not agree supporting som... moreThank God. Knowingly or unknowingly you've admitted everything HMD has done to Nokia 7.2. The most important point to be noted is that Nokia was in different hands at the time of N8, N9, 1020, 950, etc. At that time the brand Nokia was taken care of properly through Good Quality Control and effective Product Management. Is it not HMD's responsibility to assure that the Zeiss Camera implemented is at least on par with the older generations of Nokia?

Now coming to display, Microsoft (Nokia) 950 xl display is far more superior to Nokia 7.2. There are more older Nokia devices which had great displays over Nokia 7.2. Moreover, if you'd like to experience an excellent IPS display, you may check Asus Zenfone 3 ZE520KL. But, generally the present IPS displays manufactured are not up to the mark. Technologies should help improve quality of products. But, they are after reducing costs by murdering quality.

We can talk of build quality and price, only if other aspects of a mobile does their excellent jobs. For example, one may say " Everything in this mobile is so... good except build quality". But in Nokia 7.2 everything is average (though not bad) except build quality. This word "AVERAGE" makes Nokia fans to say it is a balanced device / good overall device. If the device is really good, consumers wouldn't look into the marginal differences of pricing.

"Why people talk too much about Nokia 7.2?" would be the excellent question to ask. Because, everyone including myself had too much anticipations about it, because, it is an Android One device. It is just the mental agony that makes everyone including myself to speak about it, when it failed to meet the expectations. If a Chinese brand fails, people will just ignore it by saying, " What can you expect more from a Chinese product". But when a Good Brand like Nokia fails, it would become the Headline News. To be honest, I think I am the only one who talks too much about Nokia 7.2. Others have simply ignored it. As I have already said, I talk here to help Nokia, because everyone still believes in Nokia.

As for xiaomi, i compared it because it seems that you and everyone bashing Nokia compares one of their copyclones with this Nokia. And of course it puzels me to see people complaing about one small thing, CPU that actually works pretty darn good but do not complain about quality, of a devices screen, its build and so on. Henche the comparison. Balanced means they tried to put as much as possible for the money in the devices, they took a bit from the cpu but labeld a good camera with zeiss. They took a bit from the aluminium and used plastic but installed a great screen (even tough for some an amoled with 720p, in their mind, is better) and so on. Is not the greatest, but is one of the most balanced in this price range as they did not get exteme low on some parts just to go high on others, as xiaomi with their mia3 did. The price for that device is like the price for this one and all you get more is a bit (insignificant bit) better CPU. Well, to each his own.

Now to ... moreWell, apparently you first need to know what Lenses are (zeiss, or whoever does lenses still) and what the camera sensor is (manufactured by aptina, omnivision or sony, their are others but let's keep it short). Sensor is the module that takes the pic and team up with the software to get a fairly good one. Lenses are the one that make sure the sensor will not be "blind". Best comparison will be the eyes that see bad are corected with glasses, right? The better the quality of the lens of the glasses are, the better the eye will see, the cleaner the lens are the sharper and more defined the image will be projected on the retina. In camera world their is of course a difference between what i have said, as a sensor will never be as good and powerfull as the eye. But to sum it all up the lenses are not everything, i do not know what sensor HMD uses but am pretty sure at this price, it does not use the best sensor ever made. Add to this the software algorithm HMD seem to have some problems with (apparently they can't do it properly, i agree with that) and you can do more damage to a picture then good. So this might be why you say others do better, even tough, to tell you the truth i do not see where xiaomi does better... as their pictures are nothing to brag about...but your opinion is your opinion. As for to compare 9.2 with lumia 950. Well, that device has a better bigger sensor while lumia 1020 has a huge one. Hope it is more clear for you.

Some hidden facts for which I need more information/ clarifications...

We know that Sony manufactures 48mp Camera. But they don't employ it in any of their devices. WHY?

The great leaders of mobiles, Apple and Google-Pixel don't entertain 48 mp camera. WHY?

If there will be a day which dawns with a technology with a 48 bayer - 1 mp camera?
