Anyway I'm just holding onto this phone as my primary until I can get something better, I plan to purchase either a Razer Phone 2 or a Xiaomi Mi 6 as my last resorts. The main reason I look at both of these phones is because they are IPS with 16:9 aspect ratios, no PWM induced headaches or stupid rounded corners.
Neither of them have a 3.5mm headphone jack so that's a negative in comparison to Nokia 8. But I am leaning towards the Razer Phone because it has that 120Hz refresh rate display which should be insanely smooth whilst scrolling.

Minu, 31 Jul 2021Oh I thought you returned it since you don't like the ... moreNah I couldn't return it because I bought it second hand. Well I was planning to sell the phone, but my ZUK Z2 because so unbearable that I had no choice to switch to this phone. Performance is a lot better on the Nokia. It's weird about the colour balance setting being a regional thing.
Yeah, so I found out there is a new tool that can unlock the bootloader for free on the TechMastro website. So I did that and it worked, cool! At first I tried the Android 11 custom ROMs but I had some troubles with encryption so I switched back to the stock ROM. And then I flashed the AIO boot image which gave me Magisk and a custom kernel so I could adjust the display colours with EX Kernel Manager.
I also have heating troubles like someone else mentioned. The back gets very hot to touch whilst gaming especially when the weather outside is warmer. Battery is not good, see the comment I made earlier today about that?

P650SE, 13 Jul 2021Well after keeping this phone in storage for several months... moreOh I thought you returned it since you don't like the display. Surprisingly the colour balance setting is region dependent. Btw how did you install custom kernels and downclock the CPU? And how is battery life for you?

ANIKET, 29 Jul 2021the worst experience ever using nokia 8. comes with poor ba... moreI agree about the battery. I have to charge mine up constantly. I checked the battery health with AccuBattery and it's down to 80% so can't expect it to be amazing, but even considering this, the rate at which the battery drains is really bad! In fact I just underclocked the CPU by about 20% to try and make it better.

the worst experience ever using nokia 8. comes with poor battery - have to change battery 2 times and again 3rd battery is down. battery is built under display, so every time we replace battery display needs to be changed too.. in just 15 months i suffered a lot.

I didn't mean to seem too negative on this phone in my comment, because I am using it right now and it is great for the most-part (ever since I installed Twilight I have had no burn-in problems) but I just wish they got the colour accuracy a bit better. If anyone has previously used an IPS phone with excellent colour accuracy (like iPhone 8 and XR) then it seems really oversaturated and poorly balanced when you later switch to this phone.

Well after keeping this phone in storage for several months, I decided to start using it as my primary device... I'm just disappointed because the display on this phone is awful IMO. You leave any image on the screen for 2 minutes and it's burned into the display no matter what brightness you have it. There's this awful reddish coloured staining around the entire screen, most visible on grey backgrounds.
Now, I found out that if you download a screen dimmer app (like Twilight) and set the intensity to 0% and screen dim either 5% or 10% it drastically reduces the problem to the point where it is barely noticeable. So it's fine now. But here comes the second problem:
The colour calibration of this panel is horrible. Colours are far too oversaturated and not remotely accurate... The colour temperature is also very blue-ish which is uncomfortable to look at indoors. Futhermore the manufacturer doesn't give a SINGLE option to adjust the display colours. There is no sRGB mode. The display calibration was so bad to the point I unlocked the bootloader just so I could get access to a custom kernel with KCAL support.
But turns out this was mostly a waste of time. With a custom kernel you have RGB sliders, as well as sliders for saturation, intensity, hue, contrast. Now, you can improve the colour temperature with these options at least - but turns out the saturation slider is useless since it doesn't actually reduce the 'neon-like' vibrancy of the colours...
All of this is a shame because everything else about the phone is nice. There are not many compact phones anymore with 16:9 aspect ratio. And it has QHD resolution too which is great.

Minu, 05 Jul 2021How is your screen on-time with the original battery btw?Hey, max screen time yesterday was 7 hours 57 minutes (I was charging it a little during the day). Screen usage since full charge: 1 hour 58 minutes. Notice that I reset it to the factory settings several days ago. It's now much faster with animations turned off, but still I experience occasional reboots, although more rarely.

Additional problems I'm currently facing:
- When you have a static image on screen for several minutes an then you change it, you can see the remaining traces from the previous image. Sometimes it's pink, especially on a black background. Pretty common problem with matrix among these devices as I found out on other forums.
- Overheating for no reason.
- Lags, freezes, camera stops working.

I've also encountered a problem with random reboots which is related to the battery. So it seems that it's not that simple to replace it with a new one without breaking the screen... And yes, the price for that is really high! A real disappointment right now... I think I'm gonna buy a new one.. I've been a longtime fan of Nokia, but I guess I'm losing my faith in it...

This phone is very bad. I change the battery with original in authorize service centre.. TWICE. Yet the restart problem come again after several months. I never buy Nokia phone again.
The cost of battery also ridiculous. I can buy low end android phone with that price. But i'm in love badly with Nokia. I need to wake up and leave all good things with good old Nokia behind :'(

Phone has been good for trips to US, Japan, but battery is now knackered - only holds charge for a couple of hours. Pity the battery is such a pain to replace, as phone is fine apart from that.
