Cause their won't be any cheap phone anymore, isn't it? Even the cheapest Symbian device is more then 100 euros. and doesn't have all the things a future phone has. 1ghz cpu, gorilla glass. Take c5-oo for example. It has almost nothing that a future phone has. but is still at higher price... at least was:). To sell cheap devices they need to make the cheap. So Asha are well done for the price and Symbian cannot replace that. Asha, also andoid will never replace Symbian, of course. So they bet on WP:)

AnonD-105091, 25 Jan 2013Symbian is officially dead, 808 PureView is the last of its kindsymbian is dead but that doesn't mean symbian phones esp 808 will stop working!! Nokia 808 maybe the last symbian phone but it can give a good fight to the current smartphones!! This phone is amazing and i don't have any problems so far thank God cause i so much love this phone.. I believe we will still get support until 2016.. At the present this phone is cool enough.. I'm planning to get lumia 920 though and i'm gonna keep them both.. :))

lets see now with all these lumias around what will happen. We must not take for granted that lumias and wph will rule. Things can change from one moment to another, we have seen that a lot of times. Its their turn now to make their move. Until 2015 we have plenty of time. For 3-4 years we'll see a tons of lumias and/or other brand/boring devices.....but so boring.....

Two years later, the burning platform is officially no more. As part of its Q4 financial results, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer announced that the Nokia 808 PureView is the last Symbian phone. Nokia managed to sell close to 2.2 million Symbian phones presumably spurred by demand for the camera powerhouse that is the 808.
“The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.”
Stated in the financial report, Nokia makes it clear that the company will no longer be developing any phones based on the archaic operating system. Sales have been dropping steadily for Nokia’s S60 based phones making the company go through a tough transitioning period to the equally unstable Windows Phone platform. While the company has managed to sell 4.4 million Lumia smartphones in Q4 2012, Windows Phone market share remains alarmingly low. It is a bit sad to witness the demise of what was one of the first smartphone operating systems but seeing that it just couldn’t compete with modern day competitors, the 808 seems like a fitting end. So long Symbian !

kwisatz, 25 Jan 2013Symbian is (officially) dead. Fine. But why all the biggest... moreNokia should come with android if he want to become no. 1 again.Because I don't think that windows defeat android.
So, nokia should keep both OS.

AnonD-1097, 25 Jan 2013Hey if u want I can send it to u frm bombay...its in stock ... moreGrattitude friend. but i already ordered it through flipkart. I think this will be one of my best choices. I started using nokia phones in 2004 with 1100, 3220,5700, 5800 n86 etc. In case of sound clarity i love my 5700 which iam using for the last 5 years without any compliant. Iam expecting same sound clarity from 808 also.

It is a simple phone and it's not even in asha series. For what it is, is quite a nice phone and has quite allot of futures. So, for a spare phone, i'd say it is enough. now, what to recommend to you in your budget, i really don't know. Maybe you have to save some more if you want a better one, like 206. There are plenty cheap Nokia's like: 100, 101, 103, C1-00, C1-02:) but i'm guessing you are not interested. If you want a recommendation... i don't know. I haven't used mobile phones since 2005, and even then i used them just for a while then i came back to smartphones:)).

Symbian is (officially) dead. Fine. But why all the biggest names in mobile phones market decided to produce both Android and Windows Phone mobile devices, and Nokia didn't? Why Nokia hates Android so much? Is Android that bad?
