I have a friend who has his own telecom company and he can get these phones £280 sim free - beat that. Problem is that he has been advised stay well away from them because they have some major problems with them and nokia are thinking of recalling the model. But no doubt everyones phone is working fine??

It's really confused, only a few months,Nokia's been producing a lot of different 8800's models(apart from from the original Silver 8800),basically,they all the same phone with more or less features, look a bit different and carry a different names and ofcoz different price tags, the real problem is Nokia will not stop there(until they have a new idea on the drawing board). We love to see an upgrade of the pre-love Silver 8800,we really love to see a better version,we really want to see Nokia fix all the Silver 8800's problems.

apart from the s/s cover what else has it got other than its hefty price tag.
            answer, nothing new or unique.
truly not worth its price tag.

would like to say a few things, i own a 8800 black and a sirocco black, just bought it today.
                Sirocco.
                Positives
1.the battery is bigger, but will only last for a while longer comparing to 8800
2.the housing is very well polished comparing to 8800.
3.the camera is better comparing to 8800
4.keypad easier to use( I have big hands)
                Neg
1.the housing is so well polished, your finger prints gets on it really easily.
2.eventhough the camera is better, but i would rather use a real camera for pics, as lets face it ,the phone is for showing off in front of others.
3.the keypad is easier to use, but the answer phone button and hang up button is not elegant enough for a phone of this class. the button are carved out, which does not go well with the rest of the keypad which the numbers are kinda printed on it. the 8800 black is better in this area as the whole keypad matches.
                4. this is personal preference i think, the housing of sir is so well polished, it kinda lost the feel of metal for me.

Well I got my handset this morning i got it on the voda network for £99.99 800mins 500 txts £50pm tariff on a 12 month contract, I just wanted this one, as I am just used to Nokias, (i have been using their smartphones for years 7650,3650,7610 and N70) so far it seems ok. I have not had any major issues with it. I popped into my local Phones4U to see what they could offer, nothing close what so ever. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bluetooth headset included, my mates think it is a really nice phone as do I.

The camera has a digital zoom, night mode, self timer, image sequencer, effects ie normal, greyscale, sepia and negative; white balance ie auto, daylight, tungsten, flourescent and horizon, you can set the picture settings to either basic, normal and high, you can set the picture resolution from 160x120 up to 1600x1200 (just under 2Meg) It will not have SE worried on the cam/phone front, as when you zoom in on any pictures and want to read any text forget it!!, but for taking pictures when you're out and about, it will be fine

This phone is a lot worse then 6230i. It is too costly and even if someone buys it. It doesnt look anything extraordinary. No good feature worth mentioning. Nokia is sucking blood out for such crap phone.

This is a good looking phone. I just got one. The price is completely worth it. 2 megapixel is a big improvement for the 8800 series.

We are selling Nokia 8800d Siroccoa for the last 2 weeks. For prices etc check http://www.soundtech.com.cy and I can assure you that it is a significant improvement versus older Nokia 8800. New batteries and no software problems (i.e. w/restarts etc). The Luxury package comes with a lot of goodies; BH-801 new Bluetooth you can save $100. Also it comes with 2 batteries and extra Desktop charger. This mobile is a beaty and you can not consider it as a technological toy. It feels good in the hands and of course it is a prestige mobile. And, of course I forgot to mention that it is a 2MPixel mobile so no need for Camera. The only thing that one needs it is the HF-35W Bluetooth Car kit (very small) and you are set to go anywhere!!

Come'on guys, please stop fighting, all we need here is user's opinion about the phone and i mean from someone who actually owning the phone not just read what gsmarena said then making some unvaluable commences(we can read it too,do not need your help for it).To Adam and Gibiilo,I'm an Aussie too and have been waitng for the Sirocco to release so I can try it but no one in here got them(Vodafone/Optus/Telstra/All phones/C2/B/etc...not even a dummy),about the information that Allphone shop has it,I'm really doubt it coz I've been searching everywhere for it...never found one and about the rrp for the silver 8800 is still Aud1245.00 in all stores(outright price),I don't know how you can buy 1 for less than $800.00(unless you go to Ebay.com.au auctions and taking the risk). The only Sirocco available to buy for all Auusie are from some of the shops which have connection with HK's suppliers(mostly on Ebay.au and you can get them for around Aud 1450.00 plus shipping cost).
Enough said,so people please stop making all the stupid commemces if you don't know or too sure about what you're saying,it makes people whose really keen to know how good the phone is....confused.I think it's time for gsmarena cleaning up their backyard so this forum is more enjoyable and we're able to know what we're going to get next.
