Let us get a few things straight. Please don't compare "feature" phones with so-called "smart" phones. Each mobile user has his/her own preferences.
For the given specifications, this Nokia device is a really good attempt by the manufacturers. It will work best for those users who need reliability and ease of use - for basic operations like calling, surfing the web or listening to music. Stuff like gaming or multitasking makes much more sense for computers. We shouldn't expect phones to replace computers anytime soon. Further, most of us can't carry around a brick sized tablet with us everywhere we go. A compact device makes sense.
To sum up, this Nokia device makes a lot of sense (to me), because it is ideal for basic operations. I have had a positive experience with Nokia so far.
It would be wrong for me to comment on other brands. I have pre-ordered this device, and will post a hands-on experience when I can.
