I had this phone for 2 weeks, and it's a pleasure.
Font size is fine, though I can understand if there are people who struggle. Fortunately there is an application to assist with this (many other posts refer to this).
Browsing is absolutely marvellous! Lovely! Superb!
Love the way I can make my own theme(s) on ownskin.com and download it.
Only problem is that my screen saver (power saver) has stopped working... anyone got any ideas as to why that might be? I have downloaded the latest version v7.1.
All in all, I would recommend this phone to everyone.

Hi all,
I am a proud owner of Silver E50 since 6 months. Silver E50 gives you a good professional look and feel unlike black one which looks cheap. Earlier the sms sending was so slow but after I installed free SMS accelerator on my cellphone from Nokia site, it has become so super fast :). I love its blinking light for 5 mins (yes, it has settings for how long would you want the light to blink) which gives me a signal that a new message or a miss call is waiting for me when i leave it on a table :). I know some owners have complained that the font is so small but I've no issues with the small font size. My phone lasts 3-5 days on standby mode. If you use it wisely, it'll last more than 4 days ;). I generally switch off bluetooth when not in use to save battery. I've no pbms with the phone so far. Overall, it is the best phone i've ever had.

By design and features the phone is really is good that why I choose it but its really slow functioning phone. The main problem is sometimes loudspeaker automatically starts upon receiving a call, after finishing the call the phone is hanged up and I can't even switch it off and switch on. I have to remove the cover, then battery and restart the problem. I've been jerking around NOKIA Care for last 5 months but they don't have any solution available yet. This is the family bug of this phone.

I had no problem installing Nokia Maps (aka smart2go) v1.1 wk23 b04. I read that you might have to uninstall the old version first, but in my case I didn't do that and it installed just fine.
I have 1GB microSD in the phone, no problem so far.
If you install too many themes, > 28 I think, they could disappear from app manager list. To uninstall the unlisted themes from memory card, you have to delete them manually by connecting the phone in 'data transfer' mode that set the phone as usb flash drive (or just use a card reader), and browse to '\Private\10207114\import' (might be hidden, so set folder options in control panel and set 'show hidden files and folders'), then delete the theme folders you want to delete.
As the previous poster said, you won't be able to install the manually deleted themes again by normal installation because the bug in symbian 9.1. If that is the case, you must manually install the themes to your memory card by extracting the .sis theme file using pc program call unsis 2.5 or later version (google it). Then copy the extracted files and folder to '\Private\10207114\import' folder in your memory card.
To increase the fonts' size, look for Psiloc Font Magnifier v1.1. It works beautifully with E50.
Hope that helps :)

Nokia E50 is the best phone I have ever had. My other phones that I'm still using are SE K750i cid36, Moto E398@ROKR, Moto V3x, and yes, E50 beats them all in term of overall usefulness.
To realize the full potential of this smartphone, you need to install third party applications. Just google for "Symbian OS 9.1 App binpda" (without quotes), and you'll find many interesting links. You can always buy the apps later if you really like them and you want a clear conscience ;)
To get you started, here is the list of the best available apps for S60V3:
http://www.handango.com/SoftwareCatalog.jsp?platformId=4&osId=920&siteId=1&N=4294920364
If you live in developed countries, chances are nokia has complete map for your country. Nokia has one the best mapping S60V3 app called smart2go, which is a freeware. Even without bluetooth gps module it's still very useful. I have Holux 236 BT GPS, and it works flawlessly with it. Get smart2go here:

Get the best themes for E50 here:

You need to periodically update your firmware to get rid of the bugs, which you can do it yourself for free from nokia site. Be aware though, the latest one at the time of this writing (v7.13) has phonebook problem, read about it here: http://discussions.nokia-asia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&message.id=14023, so do a research before you upgrade and weight the pros and cons. I'm content with mine, v6.41.3.0, so I can wait until a better firmware is released.
