Has anybody used their e51 as modem connected to their laptop w a cable to surf the net? If so, how was it? How was the download speed?

snr380, 20 Jun 2008hi there.does the E51 supports MP4 videos?? or only 3G vide... morethere is no such format called "3G". its the technology the phone use. this phone will play almost any video format if you install the proper codecs or a player like "divx". and if there is a format you cant play on the phone you can always use a good converter to convert the videos that is supported by the phone.

does the firmware... morewell i didn't have a green tint on my cam from the beginning. but after the update i feel that everything has become even faster than it used to be. and the battery life has increased as well. other than that there aren't any noticeable change except a few tiny features like "automatic find" etc.
the bottom line is "if you update your firmware, you will feel a difference in your phone i a good way".

I tried updating my soft... moreI saw someone had posted saying it could be your computers firewall is blocking it. thats not true. the actual reason is that nokia has not released an upgrade for your phone yet. so be patient and keep checking. do not just update your firmware because you might get an older version than the one you're having now. make sure you find the proper update.

hi all,
i am using e51 for last 2 months its just superb its sleek just 100 gm .i tried almost all softwares on it ,it runs pretty well instead of nokia maps i prefer google maps because i felt them more precise and friendly
now nokia have done something terrible this phone supports only the latest s60 compatible sis files and not the older one but its ok we have to just find it out.i tried downloading songs from sites that to 4 songs at a time and surprisingly i downloaded it fast (thanks to edge network too)i use both the nokia browser and opera mini so at same time i can access my office mails and orkut scraps .music is great and good when we wear headsets and without headsets too its good but wont have that much volume as n73 i have configured google as default email through phone its cool no need to type passwords just
fill to and message and just click send
i felt its economic too i am using a 2 gb card and till this time i felt no problems no hanging etc
defects i felt is camera its showing a green tint

Hi i've been using e51 for about 2 months w/ sun celular network. I've noticed that sometimes(or every afternoon around 4pm onwards), "3G" appears below the signal bars. When it happens, I can't able to make a call even if the signal bars are full, it says "connection error".How will i disable it or does it mean i have no signal?

I tried updating my software using nokia software updater and my phone didnt find any upgrades.. mine is now 100.34.20. wat do i do?

When you can install lots of applications to make your enjoy most of your phone capabilities.. Well, i can say that sonyericsson phones do great on loudspeaker sounding. But personally i think that the sound through headset, depends on the type of headset used. Considering the E51, which i own one, i use a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter, and use the earphones that i like. I cant say that the sound is just great.. Now that the phone uses a symbian platform, you can install other media players and obtain greater function and an improved sound as well. hope that it helped you.

I own a SE wm300 and K800i. Yes, the SE came with pretty good WM ear piece and good equaliser software in the phone. However, the speakers on the phone are only average to better than average depending on which WM model.
Nokia phones suffer mostly from the crappy earpiece that came with it. E51 I got the earpiece is really sad. However, it came with equaliser software which can only be appreciated with better headset/earpiece.
One expert review said that the 3D tones does not seems to boost the music/tones. At first I agree. Now I realise it does make a difference. How so? It is the speaker in this phone. It works wonder when lay flat on table. Try it and it will simply blow you away!
Or else one would have to go buy a good compatible stereo earpiece. For SE, that is easy as Sony already had a whole good range of WM earpiece which can plug into the mic of the SE phones. Nokia don't make so many earpiece.
But hey when without any earpiece, this little guy sound so good when lay flat, who needs anymore earpiece.

Hi all,
we all know that E51 is a business phone and its sound can be compromised , especially media player performance with headset.
Do any of nokia(media player,headset)can beat the performance of a sony ericsson walkman series.Am a great fan of nokia phones and been using nokia only,but am asking this to u friends coz so many people with sony ericsson phones told that it has a stunning sound performance, especially with head sets.I juz want to know the opinion of u ppl.Thanks for all the replies in adv..

Did anyone notice the speaker on this little guy is REALLY good esp if you lay it flat on the table. Definitely better than the Motorola e398, ROKR.
The earpiece that come with E51 is just crap compare to the walkman earpiece from SE walkman phones but the SE walkman phones speakers are just average.
But the speaker on E51 wow I must say blow me away when lay on the table. Even better than my notebook ALTEC LANSING speaker. Well thought engineering!
Slim phone but big on engineering.

omg! it has been so long since i came in here. glad to see e51 old timers still going strong! guess what - i have NO intention to change my E51. for someone like me to changes phone every 7-9months, that means a lot. it shows that E51 is truly a GREAT phone.
i just updated to the new firmware. not really sure whats the new stuff it comes with. all i know is that when i turn ON the phone, there's a sound.
anyway, long live E51!
