Apps will surely become more hardware intensive over time as developers build more sophisticated apps to compete with other apps. I think it's just human nature to want a device that is not only functional, but cool also. That will drive apps to be more hardware intensive. It's hard to know what exactly what apps will be like months or years later. Most likely, it they will use more hardware resources than apps now. If the hardware is just good enough now, it may not be good enough in a year.

Very few will edit office documents on their phone because today the small Netbooks are so much better. My Samsung N210 has a betterylife that is much, very very much, better than on any phone.
N8 will be useless for office editing because the onscreen qwerty-keyboard covers most of the screens already few pixels 360 x 640.

hayato, 02 Oct 2010I will credit your comments if it were from a first hand ex... moreActually I can admit some things symbian has done right, they made it alot easier to tether data before android and iOS tether(android tether is actually quite easy now, just download an app). Symbian push email was also pretty good(Nokia Messaging, not the one that came natively on the E71). I enjoyed it while I was using my E71. I won't deny credit where credit is due, however I see no innovations and I merely commented on specs. Remember the others were to attack me first, based on my belief about nokia's hardware, case in point user by the name of Samsung Stop Trolling, who referred to me as an "i.diot" because he wouldn't come up with anything to refute my comments.

You say bioseen is all about connecting the average users and getting them involved, theres already applications available for doing such things as connecting other individuals and sharing photos. Its called twitter, blogging, myspace, facebook. Your choice, your pick. So Bioseen again, is pretty much another useless thing Symbian is trying to come up with to attract users. In fact its quite contradicting, as it will make users want symbian less. Why not market facebook natively? Since facebook is THE MOST widely used social networking platforms.

You say symbian has had amazing photo editors in the past, then why a new concept for a new one? Why not improve on the old one? Again this is the thing that is going against Nokia and Symbian, they're too diverse. Like i said, professionals wouldn't want to be using a 4" low resolution screen to edit pictures, and those novices and non professionals most likely are fine with the current photo editing that's already out. Nothing new and innovative that iOS, especially since theres Adobe photoshop express for both.

Once again i'm not saying that these apps are useless, i'm saying they're pointless. There are already tons of applications like this on android and iOS. Symbian's problem is they didn't put an effort into trying to lure developers when they had no competition at all.

You say its the Phone over all and not just the OS, and that's what i've been getting at. I never said Symbian wasn't a fully capable OS. I said however that Nokia's refusal to actually release a device with more than "enough" hardware is what limits it. As any platform grows developers will also improve on their applications being made, when this happens more hardware will be needed to fully take advantage of it. Look at the Google G1, its processor and RAM was adequate at time of release, however as interest in android increased, so did the requirements for the hardware. The E7/N8 cost around $660 USD after converting from euros. For the same price, I can get a phone with more than enough hardware in the event that I need more hardware.

You know, i imagined my phone to be a usb host long time ago. If i have files on my flash drive, i can view it on my phone without taking my laptop out my backpack. ShameOnNokia, 01 Oct 2010I'm here because this is a public comments page? Some peopl... moreI will credit your comments if it were from a first hand experience. But since e7 is not even released yet, it's quite impossible right?

If you're just talking about the specs, i already know that. The processor, the screen, i don't need someone to talk about it over and over again.

I came here, for one reason, because i'm interested in the product (i'm currently in a dilemma of what to choose, wave-for smoothness and samoled, n8-for camera, looks and usb otg, e7-for free doc editor and lots of premium apps, cbd and usb otg or desire hd-for watching movies on pocket but too expensive). And to see the latest developments happening, but everytime i came here, instead of knowing real results and proper discussion(currently, the wave forum is only of use for me), all i see is you, named ShameOnNokia. The name you call yourself tells what things you will say. I can't even imagine you admitting symbian has done something right. Maybe put some tests results or like that so you may appear to really helping everyone avoid a soon-to-fail product rather than just disliking.

About bioseen, it's target market are not professionals. It's for everyone else. It's doesn't necessary need to have a species sighting but any picture about the environment would do. You certainly miss the fact that i said it makes even an ordinary people involved.

I'm sorry, but symbian has amazing photo editors long ago. Zensis' photorite to name one. The mobile photoshop is somewhere in between the already available photoeditors and the native photoshop application on pc.

Please don't rely too much on the info i'm saying. I must admit that i have difficulty in speaking english and sometimes i can't ellaborate myself too much because of my limitations. I mean, if you can use your imagination in imagining what a fanboy is like, why not use it too in imagining the usability of the apps i'm talking about?

I don't doubt android fyi. But as a man who can fully utilize symbian, its hard to see people saying it can't do some things other OS can. I do believe symbian can do even more. I'm also open to both android and symbian but it's me weighing all the things i prioritise the most that helps me decide in the first place. So it's not just the OS. It's the phone overall.

[deleted post]I apologize if it came as if i meant you are fanboy. That post condensed in a reply to both you and another poster. It was meant to generalize how the typical fanboy would view that comment. I concede that you are a pretty informed poster. You've made a couple of points while trying to prove the worth of Symbian as an OS.

You say that USB OTG is what you need and that it comes with a cable adapter allowing you to connect to USB flash drives. Now this is where I fail to see your argument. You're telling me you need to carry around a cable to connect to a USB flash drive that you will also be carrying. That is highly inefficient. If that were the case why not just leave the flash drive at home, leave that cable adapter at home and just carry a normal USB cable? That way you can use the phone as an actual portable drive? Then again every other phone besides iphone is cable of doing that. I do it on my android phones. Unless the N8 comes with an incredibly slow flash chips and just transferring files between devices and your phone is pointless, I fail to see how OTG is a great innovative feature of nokia devices. If you're gonna be bringing your USB drive then it most likely mean you'll be connecting to other devices such as a PC fairly frequently is it not? So why not just leave the USB drive at home along with OTG adapter and just carry a regular USB cable? I fail to see how you need it, maybe its just me? You gotten by fine without USB OTG, and all of a sudden you "need" it?

If i was your dead English college professor I would roll over in my grave at how horrid your analytical skills while reading the English written language is! You asked me why am I posting here bashing people? There again is your error prone analytical skills. I don't bash people, fanboys bash me because my views of mobile devices contradicts theirs. You say I am biased, yet I asked you to give me a comparison proving Nokia's ability to compete. You sir, have yet to do so. I would love for you fanboys to prove me wrong, a statement that I can not refute as proof that Nokia has an upper hand. The only thing Nokia has on any competition is in their camera department. However most people won't even notice the difference between 6mp and 12mp on a 4" screen, but then again only the N8 has a good camera. The E7 is just a watered down camera.

The E7 maybe business oriented but how many people who's employment is critical on their ability to edit documents precisely do you believe will carry an E7 to do said task? You do know that most ultra portable laptops are in the realm of less than 4lbs and have a higher resolution with a 90% physical keyboard and with the ability to last pretty long right? You seem to be quick to jump to conclusions more than I. You say I am a Samsung fanboy because I use samsung as well as apple and htc in my comments. Yet you didn't bother to state that Nokia was the majority of the mobile devices I used for a period spanning from 2005 - This year when Galaxy S came to market. So your comment on me being a Samsung fanboy is quite ridiculous. Kallasvuo was CEO starting in 2006. Nokia became less innovative long before that my friend. Kallasvuo doesn't run the entire company. Do you honestly believe that Kallasvuo is the main reason why Symbian is a failure? Or Nokia is a failure? Thank god you're too much an i.diot and don't run any business sector. I would hate to own stocks in the company you own(since you like to jump to conclusions and started calling me an idiot, every post towards you will be calling you as such.)

I.diots like me will be in your doctors office prescribing i.diots like you alprazolam because you're too emotional. For someone who commented on my spelling of "English" which from what I saw i spelled correctly. Unless you're talking about GRAMMAR, which is an entirely different story, but hey you don't even know the difference of use for grammar and spelling so I won't lecture you about it. Nokia competes in the smartphone market, most likely anyone buying the E7 will be looking for a smart phone capability device. So you have yet to tell me one thing Nokia has an advantage of over its competitor. Who knows, you're an i.diot who bought the samsung wave, maybe thats why you're angry. You bought a phone with an OS that has no future, much like Symbian. Is that why you're angry my friend? Tell you what, sell your BADA OS device and i'll sell you one of my old nokia phones I have lying around for super cheap. E71 would that tickle your pickle?
