b4d, 30 Sep 2010it has a new nokia type called, clear-black amoled display,... moreThis is truly one thing Nokia has gotten right. ClearBlack is amoled technology, however its power output is much closer to traditional LCD than LED displays. Meaning it can provide better color than most regular LED screens.

          nokia is the shiiiiiiiznit

hayato, 29 Sep 2010I'm just saying that symbian isn't presenting natively the ... morebut theres where I fail to see your logic. You say nokia has seen the demands of their customer and has began to follow suit such as natively incorporating things like threaded sms. However I still see that they are failing to meet the demands of their customers. If they did, we wouldn't see the problems with many customers complaining about hardware lacking, or why they fail to compete. Symbian as an OS might have a large market share, however that is because Symbian can be found on the cheapest handsets, not because its a good OS. The samsung wave with BADA is seriously a let down. Its just Samsung trying to copy iOS and android. Even from the videos of Symbian^3 i can see that Nokia is seriously trying to copy android. Their contact management, and sms looks exactly like android, which is a shame because nokia was innovative at one point. If you don't like my views on Nokia that is fine, I'm just here to express my opinion on an open site. You are free to go over to HTC section too and you can always post why you feel HTC handsets are inferior to Nokia.

                        --------

Unfortunately Nokia has taken a wrong path with smartphones and they remind me of Samsung 5 years ago - mass producing fancy phones without any sense of innovation and respect for 'serious' users. I've been using Nokia since 1999 and I'm sorry to say that E72 will be the last Nokia phone I'll ever buy.

Symbian had great potential back in the days (it was designed to be fast and light) before it was ruined by Nokia's crappy GUI on S60v2/3 phones and earned a "slow OS" tag. Even if it's open source now and Nokia launched Qt which should make it faster it's too late for it. The number of developers for Symbian is dropping (with reason), and I don't understand why after all that talk about Meego (Meamo) E7 gets (beside undeserved E series classification) Symbian instead of it.

Sorry Nokia but overpriced crappy hardware in combination with OS that is doomed is not something on what I want to spend over 5 benjamins.

But remember, nokia e7 (and all Eseries devices) supports most Microsoft applications than HTC desire. This is made possible through the collaboration of microsoft corporation with nokia last year. For that reason, we can say that nokia is now bringing the microsoft innovations to its business devices not just the microsoft office softwares but also other MS products as well.

What will affect text readability will be the font used. Even on this resolution, I think that you can find a font that is readable enough on a 4" screen.

[deleted post]You are partially right but let's see if they can gain their glory back to the smartphone race. Nokia is not totally a loser phone maker. Their hardwares are proven superb and high quality than its rivalries, but they sucks when it comes to software innovations. I like their efforts as of the second half of this year that they gradually improve the symbian os. It is now a very good contender for iOS and android (i guess). Nokia must have a complete departure from the outdated symbian OS for their future symbian^4 and ^5.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2010still having a problem the processor better on 1ghz not 680... moreDid you know that symbian OS is a power efficient operating system than android and iOS? Yes, you read it right! Symbian is exclusively run by ARM 11 processor that is proven to save more power. Its 680mHz processor is more than enough to run the phone smoothly plus the addition of the latest Graphic Processor that accelerates the performance of the device. Android users are currently suffering from low battery performance because their devices run 1Ghz to 1.5Ghz of CPU that kills the battery for a short period of time.

phone_warrior, 29 Sep 2010they should have made e7 a solid "bar type" phone... moreYes, you're right! Time will come that the sliding mechanism of this phone will loose. I hope that nokia will make another symbian^3 device with candy bar in form like the nokia e5,e63 and e71. I hope that it will be an Eseries incorporating with the Touch and Type design and will have 3 inches display + QWERTY keyboard. That's a perfect phone for me. Honestly, i like the design of this phone. The appeal is unique and futuristic. Good job nokia.
