Rajesh, 08 Jan 2010Hi, I am not sure if the camera on my 3rd E71 (red) is bett... moreWhy dont you go to e71 discussions, you cannot comment on e72 without owning it, there is a lot of difference between checking a demo piece and using a new one, the build quality of e72 is better than e71, look at the usb port and memory card covers, made of solid plastic in e72, of cheap looking rubber in e71.
The material surrounding the camera lense(including the black strip where 5.0 mpix is written) is also metal in e72, in e71 there is no metal around the camera, and the black strip is made of very cheap looking wavy plastic.
The power and volume keys, soft keys and dial and end keys all are made of metal in e72, plastic in e71.
The only thing is that the battery cover and the front chrome bezel do not touch each other and there a throughout smooth plastic side wall between them, in e71 they are closer to each other, the sides do not give a smooth and graceful feeling like e72.
Overall amount of metal used in e72 is much more than e71.

But now v400 is already available and I will not upgrade as this E71 which I am using now has not a single issue whatsoever. It has not hanged even once. Battery life is amazing ( 5 to 6 days ), Camera is very good ( but not good in low light condition ). Sound quality through speaker is too loud and too clear (amazing), Built quality is way superior than E72 ( I checked all colours in E71 i.e. Black which I bought twice, Grey steel & White steel, but I found that the quality of material used in RED IS BETTER ). Moreover E71 works fine with any Symbian S60v3 software available on planet earth and in no way behind E72, but infact in some softwares E71 outperforms E72. So I really dont see any need to sacrifice such a beautiful look and solid steel feel of E71 and like a fool pay much more and get E72 because it is new. I love Nokia only for 2 handsets i.e. N82 and E71.

Waiting a year for this ridiculous. At present Nokia are working heavily on the E72 upgrade which will be released probably in October. By then I would have had my E72 for almost a year. As we all know, Nokia doesnt price depreciate much. They are still very expensive even after a year or two. You dont get this with other phones. Also no phone is perfect so don't bother seeking the perfect phone. The Nokia E72 has a beast of a battery. It is almost 4 days and I am still on full battery. LOL. Most non Nokia phones have to be charged daily.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2010The specs of e71 says it can only support MMC up to 8 gig, ... moreThese specs were given on GSM Arena forum about 2 years back and at that time 8 gb was the highest capacity available in market. 16 gb was only introduced last year. Yes 16 gb SDHC works fine and fast on E71.

i just got a call from my network operator in hong kong today, notifying me that starting next month, nokia is going to CHARGE for its nokia messaging service, which conveniently happens to include push email service as well. it's absolute BOLLOCKS as i just signed a two-year exorbitant data plan JUST FOR THIS PHONE that should cover unlimited data transmissions over the web and email exchange. what nokia FAILED to tell its customers was that the pre-installed nokia messaging service on board all existing E72 phones (i don't know about other models) was only a TRIAL VERSION, and in order to continue it, you'd have to PAY UP. i am utterly disgusted at nokia now as it's been slightly short of two months of the E72 release, and ON TOP of DELAYING the handset, they're now going to play with the consumers SOME MORE by thrusting random charges at them. you know, when i bought the handset, the nokia store manager assured me that the nokia messenging service was going to be FREE OF CHARGE (aside from the usual data charges, of course). i am livid.

Be... moregood stuff to know Rajeesh...now this is helpful info..info that will allow user to make own determination. question, if I missed a firmware upgrade for E71 but get the latest one...does it include all the things I missed from the previous upgrade? Is the cameras a lot better or a litte better and is the red as awesome as it looks I was thinking white.

Hi Sam, Mine is E71 in red colour, which is the 3rd E71. Before this I twice bought E71 in Black but had some issues. The present E71 has a much better performance in quality of camera, I am using 16 gb SDHC with no problems, speed is quiet enough for any symbian application, battery lasts 5 to 6 days, speaker is much louder and clearer than E72. Well its a matter of choice and I felt E71 is still a much better option because of the huge difference in price and not worth as E72 has nothing much to offer in concrete terms. E71 for now and I will look forward for a bigger screen and better gadget in 2 or 3 months. I really got fed up with such a smaller display. Cheers.....

Sam, 07 Jan 2010Hi Rajesh, I had been using e71 for around an year, upgrade... moreHi Sam, What I feel you must have been handed a fake E71, I was fooled 3 times and I kept complaining that E71 was worst mobile I ever used. But the 4th E71 I bought which is with me in Red colour is the best mobile I have ever used in Nokia E series. ( Overll if you would ask which Nokia I like the best I will confidently put word on N82 ). You are telling me about trackpoint in E72, I assure you if you use trackpoint on Samsung i8510 or Omnia i900 you will neglect E72. About dedicated sound chip, compare the sound quality of E72 with E71 through speaker and you will notice E72 sound quality is low and creaking when played at high level. Speed of processor, not a big issue as I owned E72 for 2 weeks and did not find it even able to play mpeg4 at mid bitrate. The video was jerky and choppy. E72 gave me 7 days battery and E71 gives 5 or 6 days. I would still choose E71 over E72. The display of E71 is a much better quality ( if you say its plastic than I would say it is a much better quality plastic than E72 ). Because of N82 and E71 I can still say LOVE YOU NOKIA...

-Both e71 and e72 have plastic covered displays, press the diplay of e71 from centre, it bends, if made of glass it would not do so.
-e72 has optical navipad, you can know the benefit only after using it.
-better camera, 3.5mm jack- use any headphones u like, better music output, it has dedicated audio chip like the the n-series which the e71 does'nt have, faster processor, e72 supports mem. cards upto 16gb, it comes with an 8gb card, i had once tried an 8gb card in e71 and it started working abnormally, so had to remove it.
-e72 appears to me a complete phone with no deficiencies at all, and by the way after e71 i had bought an n97 mini, returned it in 3days, got the e72 and i like it even better than n97mini.

very nice mobile in every thing ... iused it from one month and i installed tomuch aplication no problem .. and its very very fast and nice design............. ( I LIKE IT )......

E63 vs E71 vs E72, E72 and E63 have a similar form factor, identical twins as both have similar keyboard and Screen ( plastic ). E72 have been given a rich look with presence of Steel on some parts ( feels like a poor lady wearing a Queen's crown ) whereas E71 is a true steel device with a better Glass material display. Feels rigid, solid, concrete and sound. E72 has some marketing gimmicks like flashy fp2 to create a impression of a new device ( than E63 ) with presence of 600 mhz processor ( a waste ), but need not be fast as there are still no softwares available which will work better on E72 but not as good on E71 or E63. Camera is a positive step towards modern requirement ( few of our intelligent friends about 3 months ago on E71 forums never felt a better camera was needed on E71 and argued to it as THEY WERE THE TRUE NOKIA LOVERS ). Besides that there is nothing positive in E72 but a lot of negative comments from users. Now in future : We expect a lot from Nokia in concrete terms and not marketing gimmicks. LOVE YOU NOKIA.....

i just dont get what most ppl say about w8ing a year to buy a phone, by that time a new model arrives, just get what phone u like and enjoy it after all no gadget will remain updated forever, or w8 till u die.

Nokia E72 work best with any 3rd party software. Try Opera Mini, Fring(for skype,googletalk,yahooM,Orkut etc.) Mobitubia, Vnes,Joikuspot (best paired with ipod touch, Free Chess Internet Serves prog., Psiloc wireless presenter and yes you can carry extra batteries and change when in need while mobile. Oh ya, i forgot there's this Garmin GPS. Im comparing these direct with iphone 3G@s. There's this timeline and techno advances. In 10 years time, all the phone model you guys are arguing right now will turn to piece pile of sh*t.
