Hey guys. I bought this phone yesterday.its notification light isnt working or i dont know how it works and there are no lights of windows button,search,and back button. So please tell me if I have bought a defected piece or it has no such type if lights. ? Besides that it is an excellent phone. Proud of Nokia.

Meanwhile, an app has been posted in WPCentral and is available in Windows Phone store that will open files in SD card called 'Kirik Search Pro'. I could open most files, some showed problems though

1. u have to pay ~ 50 rs for even basic games like angry birds space, starwars, they give a "try" option, which will mostly have limited functionality because when i tried real football, it was working only for one week, before it asked to "buy"
-> How is this a problem with OS? Games on iPhone also are priced. Gamers invest money, how will they get their investment back? Android has millions of users, so app users use the platform to make it popular so that iPhone users download it. Why would they make WP games free?
2. there is a official youtube app created by microsoft which wont work properly, it is not a app, it just open a new IE tab and tried to play video in IE(mobile mode) it just shows up blank!! then some times when it comes, it says this file format is not supported on this mobile(i tried play many videos), and then i tried in IE(desktop mode) it started playing, and then crashed and mobile rebooted. can u ever imagine this kind of non sense in android mobile just for playing youtube videos?
-> Firstly it is not Microsoft but google (your beloved maker of android) that put this restriction. A month back Microsoft released a full app with no ads and download support (not found in android app). Guess what google did? Pulled the app out! Second, who asked you to use official app? There are tons of third party apps which give more functionality than even android version! Example metrotube.
3. in the music player, there is no option to just tap and move to particular part of song! which i thought very basic thing a music player should have. we have to long press fast forward icon to move quickly to some part of song!
-> I cannot see the use of this tap or the pain point.
4. no keyboard swype feature!!
-> Why should it have one? Is swipe an industry standard? Is android God or something?
5. worst part is we have to connect to computer and copy a song to ringtones folder, to set it as ringtone, i mean we cant directly set it!! basic stuff!! all this is no file manager(not even any app too) in windows 8.
-> Use the app ringtone maker to directly add ringtones, no need to copy using computer. File manager is an ancient garbage that makes your phone insecure. No wonder there is so much malware in android.
6. when we copy photos to sd card, they have not got detected until i restarted the mobile.
-> I'm not sure what is wrong here. I never saw this, it worked fine for me.
7. many games which are free/less costly are all 2/3 times costlier in windows!!
-> I have explained in my first statement. A lot of games are going free/less priced as users increase.
8. google maps is much better in terms of details it shows! only thing is we can download maps offline, and can do offline navigation, if the palce ur searching is in the local database.
-> gMaps is an app for Google maps.
9. there are no good music players like vlc/real/mx as in android,
-> Again third party apps! VLC are working on app, not sure about others. This is a question you should ask their respective owners.
10. basic app like facebook app is crashing like anything
-> One more third party app, which you call basic. Complain to facebook team. Also, there are built-in facebook features including chat. Finally there was an update yesterday.
11. there is no gtalk app, so i tried nimbuzz, everything will be fine until we use it, but if we go to home screen/shift to another app, we wont get any notification that some one pinged u, we have to again open nimbuzz to see if some one pinged u. and there are no better apps for chatting other than nimbuzz.
-> There is no talk app, guess why? Because uncle Google does not want to release it! Nimbuzz is poor in features, so Nimbuzz should take responsibility.
12. all these points will be the same on any windows phone, because it is the problem with windows phone, not with nokia, and i will update with more issue when i find them.
-> Looks more like problem with third party apps.
I think android is immature, that is why Nokia did not go with them.
USB tethering is not basic, it is outdated. It is not true that Wifi tethering takes more battery. The key is USB tethering uses your laptop power as it is connected. You can use the same thing with wifi tethering. Connect via usb but use wifi tethering, battery will not drain.
There is background downloading, your apps have not implemented it! For e.g if you use supertube app, it shows you option whether to download in background or not. MS has laid down strict rules for background downloads (apps cannot download more than 200MB in background if the phone is not on wifi or connected to power source). This is to preserve battery.
Opera said they would be bringing their browser, I am not sure about others. you need to ask them, not blame the os for third party apps.

please read this out before buying this mobile or any windows 8 mobile!!!!
i am not sure why nokia is going with windows OS, which is very immature compared to android. this is why
***** there is no USB tethering, only option is WIFI tethering which takes a lot of battery, this is just a basic feature, which is not there in this********
**** WORST thing is that there is no common place for all notifications! say some one pinged u, it is notified on the top for few seconds, and thats it gone, we cant see that notification again! only option is we have to put a tile and check it if notification came from that app or not..
*** jus now found that there is no back ground downoading!! if download starts and if we move to another app, thats it download stops!! we have to again go to the starting place and resume download!!!
*** there is no standard browsers like firefox/chrome/opera/dolphin/ or any good browser other than IE browser,which is very bad. microsoft is so lazy that there is no option to let the browser remember username/passwords even in their stock browser!! means every time u want to login to some website, we have to type username/password everytime. and also it limits to just 6 tabs, and the worst part is, when ever u shift to another tab, the page gets reloaded again. i have never imagined that a browser can be made like this!!

these are some good points,
1. good battery life.
2. quick chargin.
3. OS is fast, no lagging till now
4. touch screen is grt.
5. offline navigation
other points:
sound quality in external speaker is good
sound quality in earphones is just about average(not bad with reasonable bass with apple earphones which are one of the best. when i tried with sony ear buds (which came with xperia ion and sounded grt with it), bass is tooo low for us to njoy the song).
