I am looking to buy the 620 tomorrow, what I would like to know is if I can do my phone updates (system and Apps) via my laptop with my Telkom usb modem / dongle? E.g can I connect my phone to my laptop (which is also windows 8.1) and then insert my modem in my laptop and then do the updates for my phone? If possible, please help by telling me what i need and should do? because I have a modem with 20gig a month so if its possible to update my phone like that then it would help alOt!

go to Battery Saver & then "Usage Tab" tap on app name set to "run in background EVEN battery saver is On".
your app will always auto update.

Mohan1, 17 Sep 2014Once Again Cortana is not available in India With Cyan(WP 8... moreI have updated to Cyan & then i did a hard reset of my phone. After that i installed apps on the SD card(16gb class 10) but i noticed live tiles of some apps(like Bing News, Accuweather etc.) are not getting updated at all.
What should i do? Should i move those apps back to phone memory?? Or any other suggetions??

No doubt Lumia 620.....using narly for 1.5 years.....running smooth.....512 MB Ram is enough for it.....very tough set.....ðŸ‘.....

and after Updating to WP8.1(Cyan) you can Close app by sliding Down the App Window following Long Press Back button.

Great little phone, works well w ith WP8.1.1 Black CV UK. Using the MS Preview for Developers version and sadly MSFT still have not fixed some bug with updating this to Cyan. Can't use NSRT so like many others just waiting forever for MSFT.

So Currently "Preview for Developers" Users can use Cortana in India with Update1.

so official version of Update1 be will available in market with lumia Denim firmware.

go to Settings>Swipe Screen to Left(Or applications Tab)> tap on Background apps> after tapping each app> tap on Block.
on WP 8.1
Swipe screen to Left(Menus)> find Battery Saver> under Usage Tab tap on first option & select
"Show apps that can run in Background"
Click On app Name and Off "allow app to run in background" option.
Uncheck "allow app to run in background Even when battery saver is On"
allow app to run in background

Now I`ve updated my Phone to Cyan using Nokia S/W recovery Tool.
Cortana: Currently Cortana is Available in US only with Cyan Update .
For INDIA(EN-GB),Austrilia(EN-US) & UK(English-GreatBritain) it will available in Lumia Denim(Next Update).
it is Also available in China(In Chinese language.)
(Currently Preview for developers can use this feature)

8.1 update works Great on My Nokia Lumia 620
The only 1 thing bad was , Now I can't use FB messenger via messeging short cut :(

I love ❤ Nokia phones , I always had a Nokia phone 📱 from last seven months I have been using Nokia Lumia 620 . It's a wonderful phone 📱 after the cyan update it is even better
