This phone is on sale for the holidays and I'm planning to buy one. Should I buy one? I'm really having mixed feelings in buying this because of the problems mentioned here.
From someone who used this phone for half a year now, can you state how is the performance of the lumia 830 in terms of lag, battery apps, camera etc....
This would be a huge help.

Hi,
I am using this phone from a while and have realized that gmail does not function properly.
You cannot view emails in 'thrash'. Is anyone else facing this problem.
Even LinkedIn app does not let you view all connections (3rd level and maybe even 1st level).
Overall the phone is good but basic apps like these and whatsapp are not userfriednly.
The UI looks good but not actually good especially the call log option

I agree with you, Lumia is surprisingly slow when it comes to software, remember how long it took them to have whatsapp call, long after android. Most softwares that work on android and other platforms dont work on Lumia. i bought a fancy selfie stick for €25 and guess what, it dosnt work on Lumia 830. Trying to import contacts from lumia 830 to Nokia C3 is not working for me. I find lumia 830 generally very unuser friendly when it comes to accessing folders for documents, music videos etc. It is find it better to have a gallary menu whre you can the browse the rest o everything. have been using nokia all my business life but I am losing interest each day

I bought a lumia 830 in April this year in Paris, a few months down the line the mouth piece stopped working. i only hear callers if i put the phone on loud or earphones. I got a technician who looked into it over a week. He told me the phone operates on 3 different mics which are all working well. So what could be the problem? I feel like I flushed my money into the toilet by buying this phone. I have been using Nokia all my life and moved over to lumias. having moved from a lumia 920 with a better flashlight, internal memory etc, i really feel like this is a serious flawed downgrade i did.

Currently using this phone for around 1 Year. Fantastic one in any terms.
Performs well as good as it looks. Zero issues.
Awesome Camera - Takes amazing pictures, in true natural colours, no over or under exposure
doesn't beautify images. looks as much natural. Sharp, detailed images taken is good to be compared
to a DSLR. Thanks to "Pureview imaging and 6 element lens , Lumia Camera App".
I am able to compete with my cousin who owns a DSLR.Low light shots are great.
Battery - Its a year old still getting minimum of 18 hrs of backup and an average of around 20 hrs.
Audio - Quality is very good. Thanks to clever position of speaker.
Selfie - Not a Selfie centric phone but Lumia Selfie app serves the purpose using rear camera for Selfies.
Video - Have taken awesome 1080p Videos with Dolby Digital Surround Capture in daylight and even on full zoom
produces great frames with good detailing.
Design: One of the gorgeous designs from NOKIA. I feel colleagues at my office going jealous. I own a Black 830.
Display: IPS LCD display makes perfect viewing angles. Thanks to Colour Profile customization which makes it vivid
as an AMOLED display. Also LCD one saves on battery as my friend owning a 730 with a smaller screen and
almost(20 mah more) same battery claims considerably less battery life than mine.
Removable Battery and Back cover - A major differentiating feature from competitors. It is always handy.
Windows 10 - Being the very first Windows Phone to receive Windows 10 Insider Preview, performed very generously
with buggy builds. Had to revert back to 8.1 because of the issues with builds. Expecting Windows 10 official Update
on December 14 2015 in 1st wave of rollout.
The older 'x20' series lumias would receive them during February 2016 in 2nd wave.
16GB Inbuilt Storage and SD Card expansion - Being a regular photographer, SD Card expansion helps me.
4:3 Aspect Ratio 9MP Images+ DNG files take almost 20MB per picture, even more when Rich Capture is ON.
This is an Option which doesn't come even on 930.
Gaming - Not a heavy gamer but love to play casual games. Installed 11 games including Asphalt 8. Performs well.
1GB RAM - More than sufficient for a non RAM hungry OS like Windows. Experience is smoother than lot of 1GB Android phones.
Should handle Windows 10 with ease.
Applications - Lot of Windows Phone users complain about the unavailability of Apps. I have all the apps that I need on the Windows Store.
I never felt like I dont have this app which I use. However the quality of apps are not as good as in Google Play Store.
Hope the situation will get solved as Windows 10 comes to normal use. I am a Windows Phone user since WP7.5 and always the App Situation
has got better from then.

sumi, 18 Jun 2015My Nokia Lumia 830 camera looks black.how do fixt the problem?so you receive the first batch of lumia 830(with lack of quality control)... have your phone serviced by nokia care for repair... also i here that they replace it for serious camera problem....

I am fed up with not being able to copy contacts in my NOKIA 830 Windows phone. Every time I try to copy /back up my contact list i need to use this "app " or sign in to some "account".The makers were too cheap to to have a simple paper instruction manual like they use to have with NOKIA phones.Start having user guide books that explain how to do EVERYTHING on your phone or STOP making these phones.

i love my lumia 830. it works great i love the camera on it and having your pictures and music automatically saved to my computer is great. ive dropped it many times with no consequences to the screen (a couple scratches on the aluminum edges). my only cmplaint is the lack of available phone cases but i don't think one is needed. its tough and reliable and i would take it over an Iphone any day

I bought a brand new 830, after 1 week without even using it a crack appeared, the smoothest crack i have ever seen, i didnt drop it.
Now yesterday i dropped it from 1 meter flat on the back and it looked fine, after two minutes it almost caught on fire.
the screen turned black like ink spreading, i touched the screen and it felt so hot, you could bake an egg on it.
pulled the battery out and tried to plug it in, but the phone turns red hot within a minute of being connected to the computer.
Sounds very save, if i left it inside after it dropped it would have burned my house down.
