The Nokia N78 is the new entry level Nseries. Features a 3.2 megapixel camera ... price is just too much currently it's mass market phone just like N73 was. ...

    Please stop quarrel!
    Read my real opinion.....

Hand Phone without WINDOWS INSIDE is ...
    CHILDREN PHONE!

No OS WINDOWS or OS Symbian INSIDE=Dumb phone

HP without OS (Windows or Symbian)=BASIC PHONE!
HP with OS is ADVANCE/SMART PHONE!

Don't hope a lot from HP with no OS inside! Functionality is limited to software that preinstall on it by manufacturer and don't complain with your WRONG WRONG WRONG SILLY CHOICE!

    Suggestion!
Don't hope a lot from HP camera quality whatever the model or brand currently in the market! It is still uncompareable to Digital camera...! Every body know at indoor shot HP camera still have many problem such as blur picture!

HP with good camera (but still below Digicam quality) the price is 3 to 5 times digicam price! (woouuu).. don't make sense!

    I suggest :
->if you hope quality picture from camera buy a DIGICAM (Digital Camera)!
->If you need Hand phone buy a smart phone with OS Windows! (I don't suggest Symbian cause for the future Windows is the winner and symbian will collapse). Currently Windows is still the best OS in the world!
With Windows Inside you could install more software into your HP and thats mean more functionality you get from your HP!
->If you need Camera and HP... so buy it separately (Digicam and SmartPhone)!
->If you have no money to buy both of them... accept by your heart a basic phone and don't make any complain! Cause it is what you get with your limited money!

i would've have bought this phone if only it has TV-out feature at least. i know it's not a n82 nor a n95, but it's really unreasonable for it to not have TV-out. nokia, please, if TV-out can be activated on n78 through firmware update only without the need for any hardware, please include that feature next time on your firmware update, then i will definitely buy it. otherwise, i'll go for n82.

naeem, 01 Jul 2008can any one tell me the details about its FM transmitter qu... moreIt's pretty good.

If you're using in the car it's a hit or miss. In my Maxima it's very good, next to no hiss but in my parents Impreza it's quite bad even right next to the stereo.

It all comes down to how strong of an antenna the receiver has.

fantastic phone, not perfecte but verry good features, the fm transmitter works perfectly but some interferences expected with some fm radios harde to find a free frequence,blootooth,wifi,photo,video,mp3 player
.........etc bad points the keybord, file managing, complicate menu,it took me an hour to configurate evry thing as i want it,,no watch on the screen saver verry important for me ,in
conclusion you wont be disipointed by this fone ,handeled ,good designe.i like it.

i think it has some very good features that lots of phones don't have ( surely not 5 months ago when it was released) like GPS you couldn't get it excpet on a special GPS phone, or wifi: pretty exlusif to, it has a decent camera with a flash and a 3.5 mm jack wich comes in handy since it has an fm radio and is music based; according to me some people are beaking it down to much, i do think that N82 is better but N78 is smaller and has a more beautiful design ( for me) but i am also in doubt between the e71( stainless steel back, QWERTY and only 10mm)

If you buy this phone today, you'll regret it 6 months later. It will be half the initial price cheaper by that time. It's just not worth buying. With its current price, save your money for the moment and wait til N95 8Gb price drops down a little bit.

what i like about n78 are its fm transmitter, large capacity battery and feature pack 2. what i dont like about it is its design. it looks cheap, cheaply copied from n81 8gb. i dont see myself buying this expensive phone. i'd go for the 5mp camera w/ xenon flash, vga 30fps video recording, accelerometer, 3d graphics accelerator, 128mb ram, tv out of n82 than this n78.

At the era when blogging/youtube/facebook/myspace etc are so important to people you would have thought video would be top priority. So I still think it is surprising and also a deal-breaker that nokia's video on their 'best' phones is still the worst on the market...

The N78 lacks important thing - VoIP support. Obviously Nokia decided to remote it from all Feature Pack 2 phone (N96 and others).

Fring will work arround, but it is not the true replacement for Nokia's built-in Internet Telephone application.

You can'y also edit Access Points, etc.

After the firmware updates, the Navi-Wheel don't seem to be as sensitive as before. Prefer it previously.

One thing I notice is the opening of the menu & sub-menu is much faster than before.
