luversdoc, 02 Jul 2008yes i have been using the fone...but got probz on the ear [... moreI have owned the N78 for about a week now and have had it changed over once for the following problems,
Loudspeaker crackle on phone calls,
Back light overflow due to poor build quality
Call / log button failure
The replacement phone has no problems now although for the first day I was having a problem with the call button again not working but then the phone sorted itself out so i suspect it is a software glich, also had a problem with the back cover having movement and generally not feeling very solid on both phones rectified the problem by folding up some paper and placing behind the cover so now feels great and solid dont know why nokia didn't pick up on it and stick some foam on the back cover though, despite what people say about the keypad i have little problems getting used to it once you use the phone for a bit you should be able to text as quick as any other phone, the clear key though is placed in a bad postion feels like you need a double jointed thumb to reach it, the end key also feels like its placed a little too close to the edge but it's useable, im also still getting small amounts of backlight overflow all around the sides of the keypad in the dark due to the design but i can live with that, i'm a moderate user and get about 2 days use out of the phone before charging, the navi wheel is flawed just a bit to sensitive and does not work in all menus but you can switch it off if it's not for you, overall im pretty happy with the phone its really light and a good size for what it is and the software platform is quick along with nice transitions which can be activated via the themes, its worth the money despite the average build quality

Like other N-series phones, Nokia N78 comes with some good multimedia features. ... The Nokia N78 is a candy bar style phone. The Nokia N78

The Nokia N78's design harks back to the candy-bar roots of the first N-series phones. But while this design reminds us of the two-year-old N73, the N78

This phone is tempting. The now-usual-features: 3.2MP camera, HSDPA, WIFI, A-GPS, 2.4" screen, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers; added with new features: FM transmitter, Naviwheel, improved user interface, and the large battery capacity.
The only things that I don't like are the build issue, and the price, it's too expensive.

Have it for 1 week now and I like it very much.
Pros:
- it feels nice in hand
- light and relatively small
- large and bright screen
- nice transition effects
- navi key (rest of the keys are easy to press)
- nice music quality through adequate headset
- good camera, even in dark conditions
- speedy menu navigation and GPS
Cons:
- the battery last for 2 days (30 mins of music, 30 mins talking, 10 mins GPS, 30 mins web)
- crack sounds @ back cover
- smudgy covers
- a little to expensive, but it worths the money

n82 is currently the best camera phone in the planet today. you've got to accept it cos it's true. you gotta try it to believe it. there's no way that sony ericsson will beat nokia. even if they release an 8mp, or a 10mp, or a 12mp camera phone,it's pointless! se can only add more megapixels in their cybershot phones but the image quality is not good at all. nokia is the best!

You won't need a digital camera anymore if you have a n82. I'm telling you, pics are so much better with n82 than a stand alone digicam. And who in the world are using winmobile? Is there any? And if there is, what can they he/she do with his/her winmobile? Lol

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2008just curious, when u use gps for the n78 do u need 2 pay fo... moreIf u use the GPS, it is free. Any new download of maps can be done via Nokia Map Loader.
As long u don't use the A-GPS, there will be no data charges. A-GPS requires data link from your carrier to determine your location. Typically, it requires about 4kb of data transmission to the cell tower. It is much faster than using GPS alone.
Simulation of route is free. But the Naviagtion is free for 3 months, depend on your country.

just curious, when u use gps for the n78 do u need 2 pay for the internet usage thingy or is it free 2 locate your location? and for anyone who thinks that this is an expensive phone, usually these are intended to be sold along with contracts, and thats where the companies subsidise some of the costs (although they suck it back out of u through ur monthly payment). but still, the gps is as simple as just clicking locate right? no need 2 set up all the settings like for gprs? im still usin a 2.5g phone (w610i). so the gps is 100% free? coz when i tried goin on google maps on my frien's w760i he told me that he had 2 pay. please help me. im confused
