To our dedicated troll fan:
Why are you so religiously stalking our N8 site and reading every comment posted, huh? Not only that, but you are posting your own comments. You must be obsessed with the N8. If you are an android fan, why are you among the 25,000 (last daily count) visiting N8 fans??? Explain that one, will ya!!! It has to be that you are getting educated here, right!

AnonD-20890, 15 Aug 2013There are only irrelevant links. What to do :-( ?.Hey, if all else fails, maybe you can consider exploring copying your SMS to an SD and and putting that SD into your Note II. Not too sure if that will achieve what you want ie "sync" not transfer.

Also, check out SugarSync app which is the nearest thing I could find. Just remember I am a clueless babe so you have to do your own research on it because nobody takes my advice seriously anyway. I believe it uses some thingamajig like cloud.

I made a full software reinstallation on my N8 using latest version of PC suite and it got back to the dated 111.030.0609 software version. After that some features still needed to be received as updates like store, maps, new social, sms fix, some widgets, etc, but i'm finding nowhere the 'Refresh' version update anymore. Neither by 'sw update' app nor 'device manager/check for updates' menu. Anyone got an idea? I badly need that 'mobile data' widget.

MdN, 14 Aug 2013Uh-oh :-) Okay, let's go one by one. Adobe Flash player is ... moreYes, you are right. There is nothing you can do about the flash player. We have lite version 4. It is an old version but supports allot of videos from youtube, at least... Still, some hq ones, or new encoded ones will not be supported. The result? Some videos work, some don't. HTML5 they said that has a better integration in the latest nokia browser as far as i remember. Still, some videos are played some aren't...

Stupid me, 14 Aug 2013MdN What is this business about flash player? I want to ... moreUh-oh :-) Okay, let's go one by one. Adobe Flash player is a program that you install, and it basically integrates into your web browser, so that on your PC you can watch YouTube and display some webpage elements written in Flash format. So if you watched YouTube chances are you either watch it through the Flash Player or in the HTML5 format (that's another story). On the phone you already have "Flash Lite" in the default web browser, but not in Opera Mini or any other. On the iPhone for example there's no Flash whatsoever because Steve Jobs said it's a buggy unstable code. Basically, when you're watching YouTube on the N8 you're watching it through your default video player because, to phones, YouTube sends video in a format they are compatible with. QooPlayer is an audio/video player, you already have those, but this one has different options/formats. Anyway, if there's a YouTube video on some website it will open in the video player when you click it, but if it's a video from some other page it will just show "install Flash player" unless you're really lucky. Not much to do about it, I think, but I might be wrong.

If all your contacts are using Skype, just stick with it. :-) Yeah, most messengers are pretty much similar, but some are trying to be "all in one" and support more message services at once.

30fps means 30 frames per second. I have to admit that since I got my N8 I only recorded one video to test it, but took hundreds of photos. And I don't even need HD video because the size of a frame is more than my PC monitor resolution. :-) Some do say the camera downgraded, some say that just the settings and focus sensitivity changed, some didn't notice any difference. I'm pretty sure that pixel-peeping camera-obsessed Steve from AllAboutSymbian would have noticed, but he said nothing and it was his main phone until he got an 808.

Anna is good as well, some people missed a few features they lost and downgraded, some never upgraded, but for most Belle is best, and most apps and themes are written for Belle. I guess it's always best to have the latest version with all the flaws ironed out and bugs fixed. The very first version had a bad reputation for bugs and crashes (Symbian^3) when it was released (typical for Nokia, it seems) but everything after that was working properly.

Well, I suppose people who buy a Symbian Nokia - even though there are quad-core HD-display phones around with a million apps for them - know what they want and why they want it. ;-) Most people don't really do any research before buying, and then when they can't do something they expected they complain. Even worse, some buy one of those phones because it's "the best on the market" and just use it for calls... Oh well. Enough for now, must walk my dog!

                              MdN

What is this business about flash player? I want to look at a documentary and a message on the screen comes up saying that I have to download some flash player. OK, so I went looking for a media player and found Qooplayer. Thought I would inquire before I go further. Is that a flash player? Do you or anybody reading this know? One is needed on my PC too, but I ent going there!!! So, I can't see the documentary, neither on my phone nor my PC.

I have been busy compiling a list of apps to install after I upgrade. But you know what? I ended up wasting my time because so many of them are doing the same damn thing. I looked at We Chat, Viber, Nimbuzz and Fring (again) and to me, Skype is doing all that they are doing - unless I actually have to install them to see the differences. I have yet to see a reason to encourage my folks to install any of them on their phones too because we are all getting along fine with Skype.

Then the camera issue came up and I read somewhere that the video feature is upgraded to 30fps (whatever that means). I can't imagine better videos than what I have gotten so far. I'll be a bit worried about the snaps, yes, but I am trying to be a little balanced about it.

It seems that some people had some problems when they upgraded and some were trolling to denigrate the N8 (so strange that people would do such an unethical thing - including Walkman :-)). That said, when I looked at the comments for the apps, of those with N8's, most of them had Belle. So it may be that the vast majority were not seriously affected since it does appear that Belle is the preferred system.`Nothing like checking the numbers. Numbers don't lie unless you're manipulating them.

Then I checked some of the phone models (right here on this site) into which the apps were installed. (BTW I looked at Google apps too.) That was a REVELATION. Most people were happy with their Nokia phones (even the 5310 which I use to move around with because it is so thin in the pocket - nothing to shout about) but complaints were in abundance for other brands (did not look at the high end phones). I can only conclude that people buy phones blindly or buy what their friends have without checking out what they want. I mean - what is the sense of freaking out when your phone is full after a installing a few apps? Unless you got a bigger appetite and now regret what you bought!

All in all, after reading the comments, I am real glad I went for the N8 when the opportunity came along.

Belle does downgrade the pictures from Anna, but I read on a comment section at allaboutsymbian that the camerapro non QT version takes better photos. So I had to try it out. I have to say it works. :)
