i love the fact that n8 haters probably make this phone even more popular...

i also enjoy posts that start with:
"i work in a mobile shop"
        "i own both n8 and wave/iphone4/galaxy"
"i bought this phone and its crap"
        "nokia is dead"
        and so on

you can even notice a pattern. always apple and samsung afraid of competition

This phone is so bad, I hate it and wish I never let myself get conned again by Nokia after switching from an N97 which was worse.

i even gave to the nokia care..they did some software update..i lost all my sms n contacts..n now the condition is even worse..
whn i complained to thm they said there is water damage n i had opened the set elsewhere..wtf is water damage..am i a fool to pour water on a handset dat i bought with my one month's salary...n y wud i open the set myself..
they said they cant do much..
i even threatened them to go to the consumer forum if they dont replace..but they didt listen..
              i was very pissed off..
n now i have got an offer of 17k for N8..i ll b more than happy to sell it off...i only hope it doesnt hang while showing my phone to that potential 2nd hand buyer..
it ll be a straight loss of 9k( too heavy for me)..i m frustrated..i ll rather buy a 2000 rupee nokia basic phn than this bullshit symbian

i have both N8 and samsung wave..
i ll say specs, usability, speed, looks, hardware ,OS, music will definitely go to samsung wave..so, if any body is interested for these they can go for samsung wave..
but when it comes to camera, gps, apps ,compatibility...N8 is too robust to b beaten..
i use both of them...samsung wave for music, watching videos(super amoled is ucomparable),playing unbelivable 3D games(asphalt5,nfs shift, kroll, avatar, tekken, mortal combat) and basic calling facilities..
N8 for camera(best best best),internet surfing(large screen),gps(superb) and other apps in the library..

If i am asked to give ratings thn i ll give wave a 9 , n N8 as 8.5...coz wave is around 7k cheaper(can get a good digicam)...but whn it comes to N8..brand will always be a brand..
So, all u guys who are worried to get a new phone can read this review n buy ur choice of phones

N8, 18 Nov 2010i bought this phone a month ago.. thumbs up: 1) great s... moreYou should have known better, new products are prone to be bugged and defected in the first several weeks (especially the first batch of production). Don't jump into the conclusion "N8 sucks" until Nokia release an update to stabilize it.

i bought this phone a month ago..

                    thumbs up:
                    1) great sensor great camera
                    2) music quality is good
                    3) video recording is good
                    4) amoled screen..n many many apps

                    Thumbs Down
                    1) operating system
                    2) phone needs to b faster
                    3) unreliable( hangs too often while taking snaps)
                    4) no descent battery life

so, when it comes to using..its not so good...I shudnt have bought this phone for 26k..its a real waste of money...i m saying this coz a 12mp cam can never b betr than digi cams...it ll only b betr than other cam phone..but whts the use whn only music & cam are good and rest all is like shit...when i was showing off my new phone, it hanged 2-3 times..it was really embarassing for me infront of them...Now, i ll definitely sell this piece of crap...i ll rather buy a blackberry or samsung nexus s..atleast their specs are good, hardware n os are good..n wont make me embarass again

Hello all. I brought My Nokia N8 and I fall in love with this baby! Let me tell you why you should get This Nokia N8. You can even kiss the iphone 4 goodbye!

Screen size is very large and high quality display. Meaning both photos and videos looks great. The sound quality is super good. I was listening my music on the plane and is sound as good as my ipod touch. It also has that side scrolling cover like the ipod touch. This phone support 720p movies but please note from me: If you take a 720p mkv movie and converter it to the nokia, it use mp4 formate but can take up to 2 hours and more depending on the size of the movie. You can even connect you phone to your tv using a hdmi cable. It actually show your phone menu on your tv, which you can remote your phone on tv with out looking at your phone screen.

It was sweet playing games and watching 720p on my sharp tv. Just like real 720p and won't lose the quality. same with viewing your photos taken with your n8. is detail enough and again won't lose the quality. Viewing photos on your phone is really easy and you can flip your photos back and forth and swiping on the screen. One of the best feature is web browsing. Use opera 10 which is what I recommend best load fast, and the n8 actually support flash commercial on web pages! ( ipad, you need to learn from nokia... )

Playing games on the n8 is good because it has a touch buttons display on the bottom of your game ( top down split screen for game screen, and joypad screen ) The n8 how ever doesn't have a extra batteries and instead is a build in batteries. I'm assure you is nokia so you won't have to worry about this phone ever going dead :P The only carrying case I find it fit is the official nokia n8 case which has a tag at the back for lifting your phone up from the leather case.

Over all I'm very happy with my nokia n8 purchase and I rate this a 9 because it is a little bit heavy. The price is around close to $600 in canadian which is a very reasonable pricing comparing to other newest smart phone out there. I recommending buying this phone if you want a touch screen smart phone that act like a pocket computer.

[deleted post]I'm not here to demonstrate my identity. I assumed that many people wouldn't believe me since my first post. If you don't like the analogy Symbian^3-Windows Vista, I'm sorry but it's what it feels for many people. If I helped someone is all that's important for me, I don't care if many people don't trust me.

"Symbian is still a benchmark for all other mobile os"

Not at all. Your comment is three years late. Symbian leads just in installed base because of selling a lot of cheap phones, but its market share is shrinking in favour of Android and iOS at an alarming rate. Let's not talk about its situation in the USA, which is pretty sad.

The market is just a reflection of Symbian lagging behind in performance, software available, visual attractiveness and ease to use. When every review says that, how do you think you look making such statement? Then you try to negate my points telling I can't know better than Nokia themselves. That's just childish.

"Personally, i don't consider the iphone a smartphone so i don't see it as worth mentioning. Its an overpriced feature phone with a lot of high quality apps 'which you have to pay for'. And don't mention jailbreaking cuz you loose your warranty."

This is the worst kind of comment. You hate iPhone so much that don't even care to give it a shot and know what is it all about. It just shows how you modify your perception of reality to fit your needs. The veil of ignorance feels warm when you can't afford something, doesn't it?

AppStore is the leader of its segment by miles and offers much more free apps than OVI Store. Content's quality in OVI Store is laughable too, because most free apps for N8 seems amateur or bad copies of iPhone apps.

Jailbreak? I've been jailbreaking iPhones in batch. It's legal and revertible, so you don't lose anything. It enables iOS to do whatever you want with it. I strongly suggest every iPhone user to do this. It eliminates most iPhone problems and makes it almost perfect.

The funny thing is I don't own an iPhone 4 or Android because I just don't want it. I'm so surrounded by technology that a classic non-touch Nokia is what makes me feel good.

For the people who took their N8 back to the store to try something else: Bravissimo! It takes guts to break with the past and I'm sure you are all happier now.

For the people that plans on buying it: Be sure to really know how a jailbroken iPhone works and how a rooted Android works. Don't blind yourself.

For the people who already bought it:... good luck with the updates and I sincerely hope you make the most out of it, which is a lot really.

Now I'm tired of internet fighting for the next decade. Have fun, everybody!

I was always a SE fan. Options limited now. Never owned a Nokia phone before, new to symbian. Played with Iphone and Blackberry. When my SE died I decided to try the Nokia N8. So it is without bias that I say this is a damn good, no great machine. Really nothing like it. As an N8 owner I have to say that a lot of the bad reviews are far from true. Sure, like any other phone there are things we would like to see improved. But whether on its own merit or in comparison to other phones this beast is a freakin media monster. Damn great it is

[deleted post]Words can explain it. The designers designed the N8 home screen to delay switching on purpose. The reason is that the contacts widget within the home screen also scrolls horizontally. The delay is there to distinguish between a widget scroll and a home screen scroll. If you press the home screen button at the bottom, it will change home screens as fast as any other phone.

Many users prefer to have the home screen scroll as you drag your finger across the screen. Nokia has changed the home screen to do this. Not sure if the update is available yet.

The delay has nothing to do with any hardware/software limitations of the N8. It was perhaps not a good decision to put the delay in as indicated by the many complaints. That is why Nokia is changing the home screen to scroll instantly.

Use iphone 4, galaxy s, and n8. Best device is galaxy s then n8 then iphone 4. Use mac and windows all versions. Make sure you get a device that meets your needs. Galaxy has dlna and n8 usb OTG. Iphone only has itunes. Have any of you used your devices for sharing, copying or transferring? Hspa fastest on galaxy for those who need to know then iphone then n8. These comments from real use. Spec on paper and hear say not the best way to judge a device. Hope this helps.
