http://blog.gsmarena.com/nokia...ot-the-best/ 'good but not the best' I failed to see the word 'poor' in the blog, only in your post here...
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/...70701,00.asp 'strong battery life' and the phone got only 2.5/5.
Do you need more? May I have a link that proves your 'poor' statement?"
I see you have worked well your answer, lol. Nice job. I reckon I could find bad comments about battery life because I read them, but I've conducted my own tests so I don't have to rely on anything else. I get paid for this, so I might know one or two things. When I say battery life is poor it means three things:
1.- It's a charge-every-day phone and full day working operation isn't a given.
2.- It's too easy to kill with intensive use.
2.- It's significantly short lived compared to competing models.
In my time with the N8, battery has been some kind of nightmare. Doing a little bit of everything, just as it's expected from an N8 owner, the battery wouldn't last a full day. What killed battery the most was downloading files from internet. I could kill it in less than 4 hours. iPhone 4 could last around 10 hours doing this (yes, I'm that sick) and battery lasted around two days doing regular use. Samsung Galaxy S takes comfort with a mark of around three days.
You can throw me any link you like, I will say the same: Nokia's N8 has poor battery life performance. Still, if it's good for you that's the only thing that counts. For many users and compared with iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S, it isn't.
"Um, don't know, could also post some links but the general consensus is that there are no noticeable differences when you play the same games on N8 and iphone4. How can you say it falls behind...? Any links, please?"
Ok, I have used that expression to give an effect. N8's GPU isn't bad at all, but the marketplace is some kind of sport. If you aren't number one... And don't forget how GPUs don't work alone. N8 clearly falls short in CPU, resolution, RAM ammount and bandwidth.
Good challenging post mate. Cheers!

Enzo Maldini, 17 Nov 2010"Saying you are working for a big company and you will... moreYour refering to symbian as being old in defence of view of its resource efficiency and vista in 2020 example erroded whatever possibilities i envisioned of you being who you claim. You at best don't know half as much as you think you do.
Symbian is still a benchmark for all other mobile os. That ensured by decades of brewing and tuning. The only problem is the ui. Symbians resource efficiency lies in its core and is not as result of inability to perform functions its compeditors offer. Be you a professor, you couldn't possibly know more than the people at nokia. It doesn't take common sense to figure out why they would stick in a relatively slow processor and then underclock it.
To be honest, the n8 as it is isn't the best device out there but it undoubtably is the best in its price range. here, the galaxy s costs 25%more than the n8. But still With the s^4 updates, assuming they deliver as promised, the n8 would rule right over any android runner currently on the market. Personally, i don't consider the iphone a smartphone so i don't see it as worth mentioning. Its an overpriced feature phone with a lot of high quality apps 'which you have to pay for'. And don't mention jailbreaking cuz you loose your warranty.

"as far as i know, the n8 uses the Broadcom BCM2727 gpu which is one of the best in the market"
You are right, but still it's worse than iPhones's and Samsung Galaxy S. You can see it by pure stats, by looking the same game running on different phones and... have you seen U3 Engine running in the iPhone 4 or Rage? It blows away PSP and N3DS graphics. Well, even someone at Nintendo told N3DS couldn't run it.
"its quite good for a 1200mah battery, try to find another smartphone with the same battery capasity that can last as long as the n8."
What do you care, how does your battery perform against its spec or how long does it last in the real world? You look like you want to make a crime of Apple and Samsung for including a superior battery.
"And symbian^3 will also get a whole ui rewrite in the future, things like this need time man, you dont just expect to get a great os from the start itself?"
I agree with this and I hope things get well done, but the "big-bang" isn't now with the N8, it was long ago with the 5800. Since then, they are playing the catching game.

So, is it your opinion that this is a high end phone? Its mid range but it just so happens to nibble off some of those high-enders but hey, all is fair in love and war, right?
I do the same tests on every phone so I can make comparisons. I repeat: N8's battery performance is poor. If you don't believe this, check comparing battery life tests online. In this web page there's even one.

It falls behind the competition. Do some research.
Um, don't know, could also post some links but the general consensus is that there are no noticeable differences when you play the same games on N8 and iphone4. How can you say it falls behind...? Any links, please?

I do, you could jailbreak the i... morejailbreaking gives you all the features? Tell me, does jailbreaking improve the signal strength, give it a memory card slot, give it true multitasking, give it a fm radio, etc, etc, etc.
Btw, jailbreaking voids your waranty so if your iphone4 is screwed, you are screwed too.

you are the 4 person that talk about sh.... and can't denied the things that I used as a real probe. The iphone 4 has a 1420mAh battery that is more than the n8 battery. the symbian os is dying. Iphone has almost the doble of processor and memory and the batery works more time than n8 one. so the screen on the iphone is much more better than the n8 one. take all of this on count when you say something about battery life.

It falls behind th... moreas far as i know, the n8 uses the Broadcom BCM2727 gpu which is one of the best in the market. And as for battery life, its quite good for a 1200mah battery, try to find another smartphone with the same battery capasity that can last as long as the n8. You could also enable the power saver mode 2 increase ur battery life.
Yeah, symbian^3 is still in its infancy stage so there is still some bugs in it, still remember the 1st version of android? Also nokia plans for over 50 changes for symbian^3 in the next major update coming soon in early 2011. And symbian^3 will also get a whole ui rewrite in the future, things like this need time man, you dont just expect to get a great os from the start itself?
Ps to the post above you - STFU, ur just a hater who follows other people but have no original idea and talk bullshit. The n97 was the past man, let go over it already. Nokia is improving but you're too blind 2 see it
