Anonymous, 08 Nov 2010The thing is a year is a mighty long time in smartphone's l... moreFirst of all, ios is not out selling symbian at all. Nokia is selling symbian much more than ios and android, even the sum of the two.

A smart phone life time is at least 3 years from the birth. People buy Nokia's Symbian phones or reasons, good battery life, rich feature and hardware build quality. All these things come with the power of the os. The more things the os supports, the more complex the os is and the more maintenance work the os needs. people need to realize it. Half year to work out a complex major update for a full-fledged and feature rich os is not considered too long.

Besides how do you know it will need 6 months this time for Symbian 3? Actually Nokia has provided some updates already. I am sure more is coming on the way. If you don't believe, wait and see before saying. Please don't always judge things according to your past experience. Things may get change and the world is not static. Nokia is changing and we have seen already some evidences, right my friend?

In the iOS, jailbreaking will void your warrenty, and without jailbreaking your iphone is a piece of unsuable crap.

Fun, but not something I would carry around and there is very little actual data available anyway, not even release date.

Besides, tell me who gets to choose between N8 and this? N8 is not available in Japan and this will never be available anywhere else.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2010you are nitpicking. Remember this is the first Symbian 3 fi... moreThe thing is a year is a mighty long time in smartphone's life, so if it takes a manufacturer about six months to fix all the bugs and produce hot fixes like it takes with Nokia that means six months of nothing but frustration. I speak from experience as am a former N97 user. People are still waiting for that all important hot fix nearly 2 years on. Nokia High end smartphones are underpowered and there just ain't enough RAM installed, Symbian itself may not need to much CPU cycles or RAM but third party apps installed may. Off course IOS has bugs but at the end day people affected by the loss of signal are in the minority. Otherwise it works flawlessly. With Nokia phones you need to know which combination of buttons to hold down to reset or learn how to take the battery out and if you do it to the N8 you void your warranty.
It's all about user experience, that's why IOS is out selling symbian in the high end market sector as it a much better user experience.

If you hate, you should leave and forget...

[deleted post]you are nitpicking. Remember this is the first Symbian 3 firmware (with full of features that lack in ios and Android) without a major update yet. Tell me if on earth there is any bug free os or software. Even a few year old microsoft windows os can have frequent updates and hot fixes. What would you say?

Do you have a short position in Nokia even you are a Finnish and your position just makes you have an anti bias.
