Phyiscally looks a fantastic phone and the camera seems second to none but i am concerned at the processing power of the phone especially with symbian on it.

Nokia are still a step behind and need to pull it back quick.

Previously there was a discussion about whether N8 have video light or not. I was convinced that there is none and the red LED beside the xenon flash is just an auto focus assist light for photo taking. But after i see the video from this youtube link (1.11 minutes), i have reason to believe that the red LED light can also act as a video light for video recording at low light condition. See how bright is it.

[deleted post]Personally I don't HATE any phone, including the iPhone. Why would I hate a mobile phone?

It's a very nifty device (i have somewhat hard time calling it a phone, though), but it just doesn't serve my preferences or needs to nearly any degree.

The N8 does, that plus few other reasons (it being Nokia, made in my hometown, etc) are the reasons I'm getting the N8 and not the iPhone.

George, 26 Aug 2010Can you please tell me if Nokia will provide a screw driver... moreeven if it freezes you don't have to unscrew it.just press down the power button and hold it for 8 secs and it resets.exactly the same thing you do wiht your laptops!!

George, 26 Aug 2010Can you please tell me if Nokia will provide a screw driver... moreYou won't get a screwdriver to go with it. But, it opens with a regular once.

However, this will most likely void the warranty of the phone. Holding the power button for 8 seconds will do a full power cut and matches the effect of taking out the battery.

And before you say it's so frozen that it won't work. So far it has always worked on my laptop. Never has it frozen well enough to not shut down with 6 seconds of power button being held.

And personally I've only once had to take out the battery on a 10 year old model.

"The cover glass itself is multi-coated and is heavily scratch resistant. It passes Nokia's tumble test and other associated durability test."

                  Damian's Tip:

" From a personal point of view, I am accustomed to wiping the lens in circular motion with a clean soft item of clothing. The scratch-resistant properties allow this and the design makes it easy to do without it feeling a chore. Granted, the risk is lower if it had physical lens cover, but there is no perfect solution, I'm afraid. One issue which can occur with mechanical mechanism is a build-up of dust which collects in the recessed areas and because the opening is so small it's very hard to clean."

Can you please tell me if Nokia will provide a screw driver in the retail package as well? I just want to know so that I could unscrew it when the phone will freeze.

My E65 only has a 1,3mpix camera and crap optics etc, but after 2+ years, it still takes just as good pictures as it used to and there are no scratches on the lens and it's even more vulnerable than the lesne of N8.

Ken, 26 Aug 2010''highly scratch resistant'' doesnt mean it won't scratch. ... moreWell then you must either be a wrestler or work at a cement factory. My 3yr old n95 8gb's camera is not at all scratched. For God's sake it is recessed into the frame how could you possibly get it scratched?

The n8 as it is, is about 14mm thick around the camera. Would you rather it had a cover and be atleast 16mm thick?

Lets leave size apart, i still would pick a phone without a lens cover than one with a manual one. Lots and lots of apps nowadays make use of the phone camera. I personally don't enjoy the routine of opening the app, opening the cover, closing the camera application and then going back to the app.

The screen itself is Gorilla glass, and I'd believe so is the lens in that thing, cos at least both as referred to as "highly scratch-resistant".

Search youtube for "gorilla glass" to find out it's awesomeness.

i really like this phone, but the biggest con. is the cam.cover. just like my old n95 8gb.
