Avkon is good for non touch devices. they didn’t invest much in this interface because they wanted to keep it simple, so it can work on low end devices. The problem came when iphone entered and than android forcing nokia to improve the interface and also Symbian. They realized that avkon has no future so they didn’t invest much on it and improved symbian core(I’m talking about S3), moving to S4 to a new interface build from the ground in Qt( since they already adapted Qt with touching features).
Avkon will be probably used on S40 and S60 devices in the next few years ( probably 3-4 years) until the new S4 will became the OS for cheaper phones.
I’m not sure if they gone build a Symbian version (S4 in qt) for non-touch devices, we shall see. probably will replace S60 with S^3 in 2011 low end phones.
This are my predictions. what do you think?

Symbian^1, as the first release, forms the basis for the platform. It incorporates Symbian OS and S60 5th Edition (which is built on Symbian OS 9.4) and thus it was not made available as open source.

Symbian^2 was the first royalty free version of Symbian.[14] While portions of Symbian^2 are EPL licensed, most of the souce code is under the proprietary SFL license and available only to members of the Symbian Foundation and as of February 2010 there are no devices with this version announced. On June 1, 2010, a number of Japanese companies including DoCoMo and Sharp announced smartphones using Symbian^2.

Symbian^3 was announced on 15 February 2010.[17] This is the first fully open source version of Symbian, following the completion of the release of the entire Symbian codebase earlier that month.[18] The Symbian^3 release introduced new features such as HDMI support, a new 2D and 3D graphics architecture, and UI improvements, such as improved consistency.[19][20] It has single tap menus and up to three customizable homescreens. The current release date for Symbian^3 SDK is October 2010.

Symbian^4 is expected to be released in the first half of 2011. Symbian^4 provides an entirely new user experience built with Qt.
The first phones running the open source version of the platform will be Symbian^3 phones; one such phone, Nokia N8, has been announced.

See that s4 will be released in the half of 2010.

HIGH DEFINITION 720P MOBILE MULTIMEDIA PROCESSOR

The BCM2727 multimedia processor provides high-quality multimedia features for mobile phones and advanced media players while retaining long battery life, a combination that allows users to carry a single device for all occasions. Next generation consumer devices based on the BCM2727 can support HD video camcorder and playback, professional cameras to 12 Mpixels with advanced ISP, and high-performance 3D for advanced user interfaces, navigation displays, and mobile gaming.

Recording 720p HD video is supported in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile format, resulting in a quarter of the storage required versus MPEG-2 standards. While simultaneously recording HD 720p video and audio streams, consumption is around 450 mW, enabling HD camcorder record time of three hours for a typical system.

If they sell it for P46k = 1k usd, then dont buy on the nokia center, buy on other shop in the cyberzone.. Iv bought all my nokia phones on a shop named cellway.. They are certified nokia dealer, but thier price is lower vs nokia center.. Im using nokia phones for years, and i have no problem on each of any that i have.. Just make sure that there is a NTC sticker on it.. The cellway shop too gave 1 year waranty via nokia care..
