get over it brand-fanboys, enough is enough

let people "themselves" choose the right phone they want

you'll never degrade a product based of silly reasons like "this brand has issues", "don't buy this", "this brand software is better than that brand software"

NOKIA/SAMSUNG/IPHONE/HTC/etc.. All companies make phones with weaknesses and strengths. It's called the beauty of diversity

no need to pop-up everyday to advise us on which product to buy, the average-knowledge user already know about the specs so he/she can decide for themselves.
      =====

back to the real discussion: Nice phone but the price is a bit exaggerated in my opinion.

This is no argument that apps are present all over internet. Im talking of official app store ovi. I want to load from malware free site ie ovi which is poor.

The problem with Nokia is their useless batteries so N8 will not be a "mobile" computer/phone. It is better to buy a Netbook for watching movies, N8 screen is to small for movies, and it is even to small for websurfing.
N8 has a xenon flash, but it can not be used as a videolight. Galaxy S has no flash but if you need a flash then HTC Desire with Froyo is perfect.
N8 has lost even before it has reached the market.

I really dont think a video light affects the video being taken to such a large extent. Unless the subject you are shooting is within 2m from you the video light is useless whether on or off since its range is very small. A xenon flashs range is much larger but it cant be used for video but when taking still pictures with xenon flash the results are much more dramatic than pictures without a xenon flah or with led flash. That is why phones with xenon flash units tend to capture much better images. Nokia engineers said that the space around the camera of the n8 was to congested and they correctly beleived that most users would be shooting hd videos where their subjects are further than 2m and therefore dint implement a video light. I owned a se k850 with a tri۔led video light and beleive me, the difference in videos with the video light on or off dint really make a difference. For now photography on phones is accomplished since great camera lens (carl zeiss) are being implemented as well as high quality xenon flash units, only proper optical zoom abilities remain to be accomplished by phone manufacturers, camcorder abilities Seem to be way off although hd video recording is now possible, the ability of dedicated camcorders to shoot clear videos at night using their powerful flash lights which are externally powered seems to be far off for the mobile world since these lights require alot of power and a mobiles battery is quite minute to provide such power. None the less the n8 will be a brilliant phone without a doubt and its 12mp sensor wouldnt be the only star of the show!

r 3 b 3 l, 07 Aug 2010This is the last time i would post as regards hardware spec... morethats right my friend,i feel to switch to other OS too,not meego, not android, and absolutely not idubm os and i think i will go for winmo.i dont need smartphone with beautiful eye candy.
i have loss my interest for n8 after reading bout how phone CPU archive best power saving and architecture.
it is a commonsense that most people saying that lower cpu clock mean low power consumption.
but new phone cpu today using the big 1Ghz for lower the power comsumption for burst mode in processing and try to switch to idle as fast as the process done.
this trick is an opposition for nokia do with symbian, using lower clock and do the process slower.it mean slower to idle state too.
so new 1Ghz like the hummingbird is not bout powerhorse and muscle,it is design for fast processing and archive more speed to idle.
i dont think it is the same strategy for PC CPU.
but it is the same idea behind intel atom for netbook range and tablet.thats why we can see so many new gadget today with impresive battery life.
is not because they run the os faster but because they archive idle state faster and minimum the battery usage.
im getting really confuse to choose my next smarty now :D
only ifool gladly spend so much money for idumb os phone.
android still not really interesting and stable yet.
sym3 nice but with 680mhz cpu and 256ram,is not bout speed but how fast it goes to idle.(waiting for the review)
winmo,i dont have any complain bout the os,but for the resitive screen, last week i've scratch my 5800xm screen because i accidently sleep over it T__T
thats why i think it will be better to buy capacitve screen phone next time,so i can take it with me on my bed safely.

AMANITA, 07 Aug 2010So sad wave cant even support zip/rar ! Galaxy dont have a ... moreAnd what about no customisable EQ in music player. And the stuttering youtube videos in the browser.
What about the lack of VoIP support or any app supporting it.
Not to mention the fact that even EQ presets only work for mp3 files and not other formats like AAC and m4a.
Good Luck wavers for being chained down... Soon samsung is gonna pull your plug just as they did with the Omnia HD.
