n8 is well balanced phone with outdated screen resolution, outdated os,outdated processor, and outdated ram,add to that ugly design (looks like shaving machine),projecting camera, with heavy weight.
and don't forget no torch,no video light(12mp will not help at night),and all these missing features come with high price!?!
really well balanced :(

I got a question regarding OTG.

I saw some youtube video's where N8 demoed playing videos(divx) from usb. Now is that video file is already encoded to play on 3.5" screen or its in its original format which we play on PC?

Do we need to convert the video for N8's screen Or Symbian^3 will support playing any resolution?

Any beta testers? Pls ans me...

TP, 07 Aug 2010In the beginning of your reply i thought i was dealing with... moreI agree that Symbian is not popular with developers (atleast for S60 v5).
Nokia is comming back, Qt is getting popular and the latest major softwares are developed using Qt (Mozilla, Skype..). Nokia itself is using Qt to develop their apps.
What's the big think - App developed Qt will work in any Symbian or upcoming Meego platforms (Nokia says it will work on any.. PC too).

Nuwan, 07 Aug 2010Dear TP, I agree with you most of your arguments brother... moreIn the beginning of your reply i thought i was dealing with someone who knew and had kept up with the news, clearly not.
Symbian is falling rapidly, its no longer at 40% share, its at around 36% ,the only reason its so popular is because its fitted into cheap low cost mass production phones like the 6120c, 5230, 5800, N73, N78, 6220c etc...these are cheap handsets that sell in millions mainly in developing countries,i should know,im from one. That realy doesnt count though as most of the people who buy these in those countries dont even know what Symbian is,and are certainly not prepared to buy apps.
You talk about Symbian having millions of apps, but heres a question for you,out of all those how many are touch optimized and work on S60v5 and Symbian^3 PROPERLY? Not many, most have had to be rewritten, and the few that do work to a certain extent are annoying and inconsistent with the UI ,making the user experience poor, more than half of s60v3 apps dont work on s60v5 or symbian3 as they need to be rewritten and touch optimized, for example CorePlayer, probably the best media player in Symbian,is still not available for s60v5,and the current version requires another app to replicate s60v3 buttons so it can work on a 5800,but again this totaly ruins the user experience and just fills it with frustration,so your apps arguement realy is irrelevant. In Android all apps work on every Android OS version, and all Androids get OS updates to keep up, there are FAR MORE useful Android apps than S60v5 apps. I have a 5800,and a bunch of other s60s so i know what im talking about,i also have an X10,so i have both Symbian and Android to play with, and can tell you that Symbian has been left behind. Symbian maybe popular due to being shipped in cheap handsets BUT its NOT popular with developers, and that realy is whats killing it, most s60v3 apps havent been ported or rewritten for s60v5 or symbian3 as most of the developers ran off to Android and iOS. Lets not even discuss the apps and games quality in Android compared to Symbians as Android apps and games are of far better quality and get regular weekly updates,in Symbian app updates are almost a miracle and games are usualy released and abandond.

N8 is outdated symbian. Symbian is dead, so as Nokia. Never will buy Symbian Nokia after N97. Now using Samsung Wave. Nokia can never ever make a good phone like Wave. Nokia wake up or die.

One thing that's great with the N8's CPU chipset configuration is that it comes with a dedicated graphics chip. Which means that it will be able to run 3D games like Asphalt 5, NOVA ++ quite smoothly. Just look at the Motorola DROID which has a 600mhz cpu and a dedicated graphics chip, but performs far better in 3D games than my HTC Desire with an overclocked 1.2ghz snapdragon because of the graphic chip. It's like an integrated graphics card vs dedicated graphics card on a laptop.

the specifications are more than enough...i want to have it...but i think with 256 RAM and 680Mhz processor is not enough for N8 with the all of high tech fiture...maybe NOKIA can make the evo of N8 with 512 RAM or more and 1Ghz processor...WOW!!!it will be the most favorite smart phone!!!and i really" want to have it...

                      hehe

Is the Menu Button made of ... moreI CAN confirm that the N8's harware buttons ARE anodised aluminium cut-outs, just like the rest of the phone. This gives it a really slick and solid feel to it. Unfortunatly the HDMI-port cover is glossy plastic, but I am sure Nokia has their reasons for doin so.

                            1) I recall that I read something like N8 consists of 'embedded Aluminum made button' but I can't confirm this...
