andy burgin, 08 Jul 2010This Year is just showing how Nokia are losing out in the M... moreBoth Samsung and Sony 12MP phones failed to deliver the image quality one usually expect. Its nothing about megapixel, its about size of sensor, optics and image processor. Mega pixel just count size not clarity. Read Nokia's camera guru Damian, you will undertand how serious are they about clarity.

This Year is just showing how Nokia are losing out in the Mobile Market,an by the time the N8 will be released, more advanced mobiles with be on the Market,Just can"t believe how Nokia do not watch the current mobiles trends,an everytime we get a Very Slow Reaction at Nokia,Samsung an Sony Ericsson announced there 12 mega-pixel camera mobiles ages ago,but we got no reaction from Nokia, then we do get a late reaction in 2010 an then having to wait 6 months before there N8 to even appear on the Market, i am sure Samsung will announce there reaction to the N8 an release it about the same time an cut the N8 sales, how long will it take to release the Meego mobile at Nokia i bet its not while 2011 to late again, get sorted out Nokia or you will end up bottom of the mobile league

What is the reason for Nokia NOT using Android and Windows Mobile for their devices? Surely adding these operating systems to their ever-growing and ever-changing line up of smartphones will increase sales drasticly??? I mean they can still use their good-old symbian, Meego and Maemo, but have other devices running Windows and so on....Symbian should be for their budget range, Windows for their E-series business range, Android for their mid-range, Maemo strictly for their Internet tablets, and MeeGo for their high-end BEST phones.(like what they currently doing). I mean how difficult is it really to increase the RAM and ROM aswell as the processors power, to make our N8 experience more enjoyable, or were they rather focasing on the cost of it? Can't they make two versions of it, eg. one that has 32gb internal memory and 512 RAM and ROM.?

Emorfy, 08 Jul 2010I posted one question few days ago that has't been answered... moreDude, is there any mobile that actually does that? I mean pause the music? I don't think i've ever used any that does. Maybe either because i used only nokia or cuz i've never found myself in that situation. I still can't imagine how you could get a 3.5mm cable accidentally unplugged. You'ld have to tug it real hard.
Now that you've said it, i guess it could be annoying. Hope nokia is listening . . .

Emorfy, 08 Jul 2010I posted one question few days ago that has't been answered... moreI am using N900 and there is an app called Music Player Daemon which very effectively saves you from the public embarrassment. I am not sure about N8 but if there is something for N900, stay assured that you will have it for N8, even as standard or a third party app... :)
Cheers

I posted one question few days ago that has't been answered yet.
When using the music player, when you unplug the headphones does the music pause?
Because i have a n86, and when the headphones are removed accidentally, it automatically starts playing the music on the phone speaker, disturbing people arround me... The same happens when using stereo bluetooth (nokia BH214) when the battery dies or the connection is lost.
So annoying..
1-In nokia n8 does the music pause when the headphones are removed from the jack? (or close the player, or prompt user what to do, or configurable option in settings..)
2-if using the stereo bluetooth (i assume that BH214 are compatible with bluetooth 3.0) does the music pause? (or anything that prevents it to be played automatically on the phone speakers)
3-if my nokia n86 was debranded, would it have the option to auto-pause the music when headphones are disconnected? Is there any way to enable it?
I like using one device to everything (phone, mail, camera, video, gps, sports, and music) and this one is failing on the music department (because of the sound blasting through speakers automatically in some sensitive situacions)
What annoys me the most is that the solucion is so simple ...
When headphones are disconnected (bluetooth or 3.5 jack) it could pop up a dialog to just ask
"Do you want to play through the speakers now?" with the options: Yes/No/Always/Never.
It shoudn't be hard to nokia's engineers to enable this on nokia phones. Hope n8 has it.
--- Can someone give me a proper response please?

I only see the total number of votes.
The more votes count, the better the phone.
If it is a lousy phone, no one bother to vote at all.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2010so is there any problem to navi you to the road most people... moreit would be nice if it actually gave you traffic updates, but that feature barely detects anything on the web map, so I wouldn't expect it to work on the phone. it also never gives me alternate routes. you realize of course, that Google maps does all these things (sans voice) on the S60? can't blame me for trying, but it's just one thing after another.

That's it, I'm fed up. What's the point of waiting for this phone which should have come out a year ago, when the rest of Nokia's services are in shambles? Messenger hasn't retrieved new mail in almost a week; Ovi Map ALWAYS picks the worst most congested route, OVi store can't even find Noki's own Chat app for the E71. Two years ago I would have laughed at the idea that Apple could produce a better phone for business users, but what's a communicator that can't communicate? The N8 is underpowered and memory starved from the get go. Nokia is more concerned with using up it's stock of obsolete ARMS processors and 128mb memory chips.

As per wikipedia, Symbian ^3 phones will be first to run Symbian ^4 including Nokia N8. Read here:
Symbian^4 is expected to be released in the first half of 2011.[20] Symbian^4 provides an entirely new user experience built with Qt.[21]
The first phones running the open source version of the platform will be Symbian^3 phones; one such phone, Nokia N8, has been announced.[22]

@Cindy & Jade!
Yes S^3 is still limited to aspect ratio of 640x360 so that the Os & gpu driver doesn't have to scale apps to higher ratio therefore movies & games can fit the screen natively with no upconversion scaling needed they will look good & run well...
S^4 will support 800x480 so nokias newer handsets have gpus that are faster right so the older apps may stay the same. However newer apps will then be written to the new standards for apps as native format aspect ratio 800x480.
I couldn't see the time consuming of rewriting the code for resolutions in old apps. So gpus will upscale with no problem to higher res when support is embedded, written into into S^4 Os.
Android 3.0 will be rewritten support 1280x720 res screens tocompete with win mob & other tablet Os's.
