I've always liked Nokia and Sony Ericsson. European quality, great design, and great RF (Why not, Nokia and Ericsson invented GSM!). But i'm worried about Nokia's fate. Albeit they are still #1 in market share people are jumping ship away from them. They slacked on the touch screen for too long, and they are still using Symbian... Which may be still the #1 most used smartphone OS, but lacks many apps and looks dated and bland. Nokia owns Symbian, ok, fine... But, its time to go Android. Its free for Nokia to install, its well supported and almost fully matured as an OS. (I'm on 1.6, still some piss offs... Alarm clock needs phone to be on, x10 has to be on when charging, call log sucks etc.) But its all minor... Just like WinMo 6.1, now at 6.5 fully mature, just too buggy lol.

But Go Nokia, move on up, use Android or that Maemo you made for the N900 and show us Revolutionary again!

Anonymous, 03 Jun 2010what are you talk? to care about galaxy, wave or iphone or... moreDo you have numbers to prove that? Nokia actually held marketshare year on year and increased market share quarter on quarter. They are doing this without a phone like the N8, and an old N97 flagship, and a not for your average consumer N900.

    That is pretty impressive.

They also make 1 Billion dollars a quarter on phones. Only Apple make more from phones, and SE, Samsung and LG regularly struggle to make money from their phone divisions.

    So, not true.

If they want to downrank the N8, let them. The N8 already has more votes and views than many other phones, it is not even out yet.

I say, we try to find as much relevant information as possible, and share. If we like the N8, why would we spend time somewhere else? ;)

See it is still 94%. While all their beloved crappy phones have less than 30% daily interest. All Nokia haters cant accept N8 is the best multimedia phone so they are trying to decrease the votes.
            To all Nokia fans:
we should not be silent. If N8 dont deserves high votes than no other phone also. We should also decrease the votes of Samsung Wave, Galaxy S, Beam and all other Non Nokia phone which have higher votes than 8.5 Then all these Nokia haters will realize their faults.

The rating click rates of this phone model alone is convincing enough.

Fans from other brands are gathered to constantly trying to vote this phone down just for one simple reason. Because of its popularity. They felt that this phone is a BIG THREAT for their favorite.

So they are trying to vote this phone down so that they won't feel regret getting any other phone other than this phone simply because this phone is not highly rated.

But good phone will always excel in term of sales.
Look at things in long term pal.
I will get this phone no matter what and i believe those who like this phone will do the same whether if it is highly rated or not. :)

Here's a guy's Youtube channel showing off real time usage of the Nokia N8. Remember the videos demoing the Nokia N8 is a prototype with firmwares that are old and consistently being updated.

I would say yes, the battery will last long, but it all boils down to how much you use the device. The battery is small in size but is put to good use considering the OS is Symbian^3 and the hardware isn't power hungry like Android devices.

If you are going to try and dissuade people from getting this device, would you terribly mind elaborating what exactly you find to be better on the android device you referred to?

I like N8 design. Design to fit n have grip when you hold it on both of your hands while on landscape mode.

I think NEW PSP PHONE should adopt this design concept.

"Symbian^3 was announced on 15 February 2010.[12] This is the first fully open source version of Symbian, following the completion of the release of the entire Symbian codebase earlier that month. The Symbian^3 release introduced new features such as HDMI support, a new 2D and 3D graphics architecture, and UI improvements. One of the first mobile phone to feature this fully open source OS (Symbian^3) is Nokia N8."

A new 2D and 3D graphics architecture takes full advantage of the hardware acceleration available to deliver a faster and more responsive user interface. Users, developers and device creators will all benefit greatly from the visual enhancements and smooth transitions that will significantly improve the look-and-feel of their applications and services. Combined with industry-standard OpenGL ES, the new architecture also provides a great platform for high performance games – all without slowing the phone down.

In hardware-accelerated rendering, the rendering is performed by a dedicated graphics accelerator (Graphics Processing Unit, GPU), while in software rendering the rendering is performed by the device main processor (Central Processing Unit, CPU).
