[deleted post]I just didnt read your all post. about GPU and CPU :D --- but CPU dont give much FPS for games :D especialy core number.. IT depends on game - if it doesnt support multicore you wont get better results - you get less results. BTW buying mid cpu and high end GPU you will get much more FPS then buying mid class GPU and high end CPU.

nomorese, 02 Jun 2010CPU is just fine, remember the good ol' N95, only 64MB of R... moreLet me tell you my friend, I brought my first PC with 550Mhz P3 and 64MB RAM and I thought it is fast. I used to run windows 98 on it and I thought its fast.

    Now, I have CORE2 DUO 2.1GHz machine with 2GHz.

With all the AV and background services, it looks little slow to me though XP is loaded.

Now N8, with all the advanced features it has got, it should have been a little better processor. I don’t agree that Nokia did a good choice of choosing 680MHz processor.

Lets take a look at companies which have 1 Ghz processor in their mobile.

    1. Toshiba has launched device with 1GhZ
    2. SE X10
    3. Samsung Wave
    4. HTC Desire
    5. Apple Ipad
    6. Dell Streak
    7. ACER Stream

I think all of the above companies who have launched their devices with 1Ghz processor are fools and should only use 680MHz processor as Nokia N8, their latest device uses 680MHz processor.

I think S3 is so nice OS that it doesn’t need high speed processor.

EVA, 02 Jun 2010Mark & Tom, Point 1. X10 processor is way better tha... moresmart smart... 2d and 3d . Desctop is 2d I gues.. Just try uninstaling gpu drivers from your PC and you will understand where is GPU used... You cant drag icon without laging not using GPU.. Search yes - page scrooling - NO. Yes FPS depends on GPU and CPU but mostly from GPU.

One guy just wrote the longest post in gsm arena's history and that was not an attempt at spamming.
As for the whole x10 vs n8, the problem is that the n8 is not out yet. So everything any one says is based on opinions or facts that do not relate specifically to these two phones. The facts people spit out are based on other systems and for some reason they are applying it to this case. Cpu does matter, Gpu does matter and so does the OS. It can be possible to rewrite the symbian os and complement it with a 200Mhz cpu yet make it run as fast as android with 1.5Ghz or vice versa. The reason is because they are totally different. I have come to learn that having a fast cpu with big numbers is all good but it is not always clear cut.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2010just see videeo, when come opening picture from gallery, ju... moreWhen I said messaging, I did not mean that bloody Small SMS'e.

I meant emails, MMS and the way they are stored. As your Message memory gets full, opening an email takes and ages. and Its not only attributed to only STORAGE reading, it is related to how the message was stored.

Desktop search takes lots of resources where processor is always busy in Indexing data. I would like to read data from my mobile device, though it is a picture, video or email message.

When I open the picture gallery, mobile device will display thumbnails. Now these are sampled images which itself is a time consuming operation. try converting JPEG to lower quality and then you will realise what differnce processor speed make.

Try converting MP3 and then you will see what difference processor makes.

And try doing too many things on mobile, may be some browsing, 2-3 emails, one 2 messages, and see how device starts slowing down. My E72 just restarts on its own if I am browsing and new email message appears and I particularly hate it.

You see, processor is used in everything and I meant everything.

[deleted post]CPU is just fine, remember the good ol' N95, only 64MB of RAM and and half the processing power of the N8.
I think Nokia made a fair assessment whether to have an over-sized CPU or something more reasonable and battery-saving. Being a Nokia user I have a good feeling that the CPU and RAM size are quite adequate considering my good ol' N95 can run both the latest Ngage games and The latest Ovi maps without a problem.
            Lets wait and see.

                  [deleted post]Comparison
                  HTC HD2 – Qualcomm QSD8250 1 GHz ARM8
                  HTC HD - Qualcomm MSM7201 528MHz ARM11

Test 1 - > Benchmark tests of the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor reportedly clocked in at least a 300 percent improvement over the Touch HD
Test 2 - > Another test showed an improvement of 1,822 percent between this and Nvidia's Tegra processor.

Now N8 is again based on ARM11 so we can expect N8 to be 300% slower than X10 but again GPU will help. But how much can GPU help CPU?

[deleted post]The latest known hardware requirements for Android are:
                      • 32MB RAM
                      • 200MHz Online Processor

Minimum Symbian Requirements for Low Tier Devices

                      • 32-64MB RAM – Higher than Android
                      • 250 Mhz – Higher than Android

While devices built with ARM 11 needs
                      • 64 MB
                      • 399-528 MHz

If you see above figures, N8 is only 150MHz above minimum required as it uses ARM11 architecture. So itself proves processor used in N8 is one which just works.

The N8 might be the last Symbian mobile, if the N8 turns out to be a waste of time like the N97,as Nokia since the N95 have been more bothered an Services an no Innovations in the Mobile Market,an its there own big mistake at Nokia,an there Sales an Shares will decline faster,so the company might end up like Sony ericcson down in the dumps,Nokia let the N900 down making it to Bulky an the Sales were there own fault as people want mobiles pocket type not Brick type sticking out in pockets, but the software seemed o.k on the N900,so why didn"t Nokia make the N8 with the same software as the N900 one,Mobile-Review.com can"t understand whats going on at Nokia an does not rate the N8 at All,so just dying to see the First Full Review of the N8 an will it live up to its expectations or be another let down from Nokia,an seen no news how good Symbian^3 is yet from nobody yet

                            [deleted post]Mark & Tom,

Point 1. X10 processor is way better than N8.
                            Reasons-
                            1. 1 GHz vs 680MHz. Whopping 32% lesser than X10.
                            2. A8 architecture of X10 processor Vs A11 of N8. It has been already proved that A8 is far better than A11.

Second Point – GPU will offload CPU for N8. That’s not quite true.
                            1. GPU will come in picture for only multimedia contents and here it will offload and I agree.
                            2. GPU will not do any processing when we have to do normal operations as in read messages, go directly to the bottom of message, search the device. The device will solely be dependent on CPU.

Third Point – SE do not have GPU while N8 has.
                            1. Having a GPU is always better. GPU offloads the CPU from 2D/3D operations.

Fourth Point – GPU is dangerous.
                            1. Reason being all operations need to be through CPU so what task needs to be offloaded and what not still needs to be decided by CPU. And hence the decision time could be a lag.

                            FPS & GPU
Its not only GPU that decides frame rate, it is combination of CPU and GPU. Open task manager and click on below link

You are posting to the WRONG forum ! You are inadvertly helping with the N8's popularity by increasing the post count !

Looks like a good phone, but it has no video light. A Led added to the Xenon flash would have been great. So won't buy one, probably will get a Wave instead.
