I am absolutely fascinated with N8 specs and looks and Im gonna buy it as soon as it comes on the market. There is only one thing that Im not sure of. At the moment I use N86 8MP and while its main disadvantage is absence of the xenon flash, it has enormously powerful LED flash which is great for capturing video at low light conditions. N8 has xenon flash which is great for making photos, but im confused because in the specs sheet they say there is LED video light, but I cant locate it on the pictures of N8. So I would like to know does the N8 have LED video light, and if it has, where is it located on the phone. Thanx in advance!

Anonymous, 30 May 2010ca we finally use any bluetooth keyboard ????You might be new to Nokiaworld and so let me tell you Yes. You can use Bluetooth keyboard. I've been using Bluetooth keyboard with my Symbian loaded Nokia N95 for the longest time. I once walked into a Apple store wanting to get an Apple Bluetooth keyboard for my mobile. The sales staff warned with much embarrassment that Iphones don't work with Apple's own Bluetooth keyboard. I told him its for my N95. He was disbelieving and reminded me not to come back for support how to use it. I thanked him for his honestly. Checkout this keyboard : http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/mini-bluetooth-keyboard-for-smartphones/

Its a interesting question if N8 will be upgradable with Symbian^4 or not..
There for I have searched lot of pages, by the far its not fully clear that what will be hardware requirement for symbian^4. But what I have searched so far, both symbian^3 and symbian^4 have same hardware requirement.. But it could be changed.
So I have two theory about future upgrade/ update for N8.
              1) Nokia will not upgrade N8 with s^4 instead they will give regular firmware update to N8 and since Symbian is open source N8 will also get some new cool features UI wise. By the way its sure they will support N8 for atleast 2 years. Also symbian^4 applications will compatible with s^3.
              2) They will upgrade N8 to symbian^4. Since Nokia have officially mentioned Rom of N8 which is 512 mb so its easy to change the OS. Even N8 can be hacked to be dualbooted. Since snapdragon also uses Arm 11 core and Android 2.2 is light compare to previous versions so Its also possible to boot froyo on N8..

Tom-Helge, 30 May 2010The post under here was from me. I forgot to put in my name... moreTom I think its worth to buy X10 over N8 if its getting Froyo update instead of Eclair in Q4..otherwise the phone is useless..
1.Many Android games require multitouch but x10 lacks it.
2.It doesnt have a front facing camera (no one uses it very much but its good to have one onboard)
                  3.Audio qual
ity and loudspeaker is not that good.

Even with these problems Im stuck between N8 & X10 because X10 has an amazing design, georgeous screen, faster processer & smooth attractive UI than Nokias..N8 might be slower than X10 but it has lot of features some people really like (Eg.Fm transmitter)
so what everyone of us should do is waiting for the release and review of N8 and then comparing it with X10..Then we can decide weather this phone is a failure or a success..X10 is an amazing device I agree and Android will surely be the best OS in 2 or 3 years of time.. Arguing here is useless and all of us are wasting our valueble time posting useless comments here..

Tom-Helge, 30 May 2010The post under here was from me. I forgot to put in my name... moreSo youre point is we should use a phone for m0re than 3 years? Damn thats so long. . . I dont care if n8 support is good for only 1yr. I usually change my phone every year, so whats the point for me that i rely on the longetivity of support.
Its just me. Im ouT of your point.

Ps gsmarena can you add in spec sheet
                        PERIOD of SUPPORT:
Ex. X10 - 3 to 4 years support from sony

Tom-Helge, 30 May 2010This is something we can discuss :-). To be quite honest... morei totally agree with u.
Nokia Should Make Device that can be upgrade to upgraded OS. Symbian^3 to Symbian^4. Like some android 1.6 device can be upgrade to android 2.2.

Hope nokia N8 can be upgrade to Symbian^4 officially or else its a waste. if N8 cant be upgrade to symbian^4 we should wait for symbian^4 or meego.

I also think nokia should support battery upgrade.
they should upgrade battery for device that have li-ion to li-po, or upgrade battery to higher capacity if certain device have bad battery consumption.

Tom-Helge, 30 May 2010This is something we can discuss :-). To be quite honest... moreAnd i forgot to say that i rather pay 650 euro for a phone that is good for at least 3 years, instead of paying 450 euro for a phone that only last for 1 year before it's outdated.

This is something i'm trying to find about any phones before i buy a phone.

The most important thing for me is that the phone have a very long support time and that the phones have awesome hardware specs so they can last for years with many many big major updates / releases of the OS it runs.

Tom's adverts, 30 May 2010Tom, honestly now, are you on a mission or something? The X... moreThis is something we can discuss :-).

To be quite honest. I'm only here to make sure that you know what you will buy if you buy the Nokia N8. And i have no problems with that.

I don't really care if you buy a Nokia N8, because the thing i really care about is that you rather buy a Nokia N8 instead of the POS that is called iPhone.

Never ever buy that jail phone.

                                That's all.

Nokia N8 will be good for about 1 year after it's released. So it's still going to be a good phone for a while.

It's only that Nokia is known for just abandon their phones after 1 year, even phones like Nokia N8. And in my eyes, that's not a good way to sell expensive and good phones like Nokia N8.

Nokia N8 would have been a really nice potential for the future if Nokia could make the phones much better instead of keeping the cost lowest possible and then put in outdated hardware specs to let peoples get more cheaper phones. Instead they should have done the same thing as Sony Ericsson for example. Have some expensive phones, but you gets awesome support and lifetime support for the premium phones you buy from them, like XPERIA X10.

Now imagine if Symbian ^4 would be really really awesome. And then Symbian ^4 gets released 7-8 months after Nokia N8 was released for example. What will that mean?, it will mean that you will sit on the Nokia N8 that will be forgotten and left to be outdated because Nokia N8 can't use Symbian ^4, so Nokia can release it's next expensive phone that will be the same over again.

                                See where this is going?.

The only thing that makes me not buy Nokia phones is the way Nokia releases phones and then later one time just adandon the phone because they are making a new phone that is an updated version of the Nokia N8 for example.

If Nokia could have given us lifetime support or at least 3-4 years with support to their phones and if they could have made phones with much better hardware specs so the phone is good for the future, then Nokia would be a good choice for me.

Now i hope you can see what i'm talking about.

Tom, honestly now, are you on a mission or something? The X10 is a nice phone, no question about it...I mean, for THAT price range I expect nothing less. And how you presented it here is really fascinating, really super...one would even think you were paid to do it and if not, well you better go knocking on SE doors and demand a damn check! :) You are doing a fine job advertising it here, oh, I meant presenting it and comparing with an unfinished product.

You are on a mission to save all of us from making a BIG mistake, are you not? The mistake of buying the N8. It's not future proof you said, the poor old CPU will not handle the load you said, Nokia will abandon it in less than a year, Symbian is waaaay last Friday and does not cut it by today's standards,we all categorically suck an so on and so forth. I honestly didn't notice you before cuz your kind are really not that hard to ignore...I know BS when I see it. What I did notice is that the place where I occasionally stop by to see if someone posted some new info about the N8 is not about the N8 anymore...it's about some philanthropist named Tom and his uber gizmo from Sony. I don't care if you love your mother or not, I really don't and from the looks of it nobody else here cares either. Apparently you fail to realize that by engaging yourself in the hype that is the N8 you just make the phone that much 'stronger' and in the end end up supporting Nokia by advertising the damn thing. Look at any Apple product and you will notice the same phenomenon, millions of people who just can't understand who or why would buy the fruity products and who cant resist the urge to 'help' those people see the error of their ways and go to great lengths explaining, in great technical detail, in numerous forums/posts/replies the shortcomings of Apples trendy trash products. And here you are, giving us the once over how the N8 will fail big time, for you at least(and yes, thousands of others stand beside you)....and I just cant comprehend as to WHY do you care man? Sit back, relax, take your dick in one hand, X10 in the other and take a picture when you are done. Honestly now, that would be a MUCH better use of your short time on this earth. Plus, go watch some Hicks/Carlin stand up combo to make the time passing by a little less obvious. :) The rest of us will pass judgment on the N8 when it hits the shelves and is properly reviewed.

PS - This phone is not meant to be the next N95, the hype and momentum behind this phone lies in the 'what you get/how much you pay for it' ratio and thats why people just cant shut up about it. Makes a whole lot of sense to pay people to spread FUD about a product that is going to force a lot of manufactures to rethink those price cuts. (we all saw the 50% cut from the fruit company, didn't we:) )

Since you already have symbian and win, Android will be new to you.

I have the n97 and x10. My next phone will be neither symbian or android, I am waiting for windows7.
