skitso, 10 Nov 2011i have symbian anna 25.007 on my n8....and recently install... moreRecent map update did something to the map and so far no official news about it is to be found. However there is a quick alternate available, which is to install the old map application.

Here is the link for those who are interested in doing it. I don't use map much so I am waiting for the official words/fix about it.

Nokia have now pulled the update due to this issue and are working on a fix.

Also, they have provided a temporary workaround to solve this issue.Visit the following site for simple instructions to get 3.08 version of maps working again.

Everybody seems to be saying the same thing about Belle and how much better it is than previous versions of Symbian.
As I've said previously, I will wait for the official release to update my N8. I don't want to run the risk of bricking the phone because at the moment my Samsung Galaxy S is out of order (smashed screen) and I'm having to rely on my N8 as my main phone until I can repair my SGS.

            All the best.

              My good Sir,

You are quite mistaken about installing unsigned applications. Have you actually tried to install an unsigned SIS file to your N8? The games you mentioned were already signed if you were able to install them without applying your own certificate. Those settings do not allow the installing of unsigned apps.

Also, the N8 does not have optical zoom, it has digital zoom instead.

Lastly, I will repeat once again there are NO viruses for S^3/Anna. The one you referred to is a Windows virus not a Symbian one so it would be impossible for that virus to infect the Symbian OS.

              All the best.

              Ray

Joshua Jesu, 09 Nov 2011Hi everyone...I just get information from somebody tell me ... moreTill date, it is false. Think about it, forget everything else, Nokia have given up on Symbian & MeeGo. So why would they build another Symbian Flagship? My dear friend, those are rumors. Nokia is not going to put any camera more than 8MP (fixed or auto focus) for a while, let alone 12MP. So be sure that N8 will not be re-make. But, I think (not sure), there was a PINK version of N8, launched in USA & Finland only (I found it in Nokia's USA & Finland site only, not even in UK), was with a 32GB memory built-in & supported 32GB card. That N8 might have the name N8-01, instead of regular N8-00. I'm not sure & can't recheck, as the search with N8-01 results some rumor phones.

Then you'd know whether there is a virus for N8 or not. FYI, "CBH Trojan Horse" was the one causing this problem. I'd be happy to infect your N8 to prove it to you, but I won't as I love N8 (any N8) so much to make it go through any trouble.

If you'd check the other options, I'm sure, a tech-geek like you would understand it clear. But even then, I'm trying to clear it for you.
You have two options under Software Installation: All & Signed only. When you select All, then the phone will not hold back the SW that is unsigned.
You have three options under Online certificate check: Must be passed, On & Off. If you choose the first one, then your new SW will NOT be installed unless your phone connects to the net & the certificate passes the criteria. If you choose On, then it'll check online, give you a warning if it is not passed, but let you install the SW (if the SW installation is set to All) or hold it back (if the SW installation is set to Signed only). If the option is set to Off, then it will not hold the SW installation back. It'll work without anything, just giving you a fair warning before the installation.
I'm very disappointed that you couldn't understand that, Mr. (H)ipkiss.
